  • I had the opposite problem. The guy with the code was in the room, but Krissie wasn't. Must be some sort of glitch

  • This robot boss in the japanese version had a chainsaw... *Sigh*

  • Subway, but in this game you do not eat fresh lol

  • @Made4542 nice one

  • do you know of the cheat where you use the moogle belt or the mallet to nullify enemy magic? I always use that.

  • Oh, the code in the Japanese version is AXBY (based on the colors of the Super Famicom buttons).

  • I like how the whole place is somewhat resembling a (weird) subway station ^^

  • I like the Underground City music. Too bad the percussion sound channels it uses interfere with the sound effects and are dropped a lot.

  • That guy in the room with the resistance members that gives you the password should be there. For some reason though, the 3 character sprite rule is in effect here also. So you just have to walk around that room a bit or enter a few times for him to show up. Same with jema and the soldiers outside, they won't be there when there is already 3 enemies.

  • "Super Special Deluxe Robot with Turbo" can't really be blamed on Woolsey; if anything, he toned it down. It was originally スーパースペシャルデラックス ゴージャスロボ 2 ダッシュ ターボプラス - Super Special Deluxe Gorgeous Robo 2 Dash Turbo Plus.

It's a clear parody of the Street Fighter franchise.

  • zombie subway.

    Subway, eat flesh!

  • Mmmm... Flesh.

  • Idk why, but I loved the subway part

  • You don't like switches that open a door on the other side of the world? You would hate Hexan. It is a hub based game, one hub that several areas are connected to. You literally go back and forth though the hub to the various areas doing things and a switch could effect something in that area, something in the hub itself, or in the case of opening the secret level, a switch opens a door several hubs away. :D One game that GameFAQs comes in *really* handy. :D

  • Zombies on the subway.

    Subway: Eat Flesh.

  • lmfao good one!

  • Dual Swastika Power, lol! Funny little saying

  • If you used Sylphid on the needlions you can get a real great armor ring for all three.

  • you are facing flamethrowing super battle caterpillars, and yet you are more worried about cats? XD

  • thank u man for putting this on youtube i forgot about this game and now i'm gonna start playing it again :D

  • So grinding your weapons by using them a lot is an alternative to using Watts? I didn't know that. I assumed it was just two ways of making the weapon stronger and you were doing both. I didn't realize it was an either/or thing.

  • No, you need weapon orbs in order reforge your weapons, so as to increase its maximum level. THEN, you can grind your weapons up to that level.

  • Ah, OK. Thanks.

  • Just to add (in case it's not quite clear), when you reforge a weapon with an orb (using Watts), the weapon's attack power will increase in addition to allowing you to gain another level for that weapon once you grind enough. When a weapon increases its level, its attack power does not increase (I could be wrong about this, though), but what does happen is that you can charge it up to a higher level for an even stronger attack, provided you're willing to wait that long.

  • I have noticed that a weapon that is a higher level hits more easily. On files where I switched weapons alot I only had my weapons at lvl 4-5 by the sunken continent and I had to charge up to be able to hit metal crawlers. But if I choose to stick to one or two weapons (since I dont do extra grinding because this game is too easy), I'd have lvl 6 weapons and I could hit them without charging. Then I learned to use change form on the metal crawlers which I now use as my official strategy on them.

  • When you were comparing these weapons, were they of the exact same form (i.e. in terms of being forged by Watts), only differing by level? Or were you comparing, say, the Masamune with the Gigas Sword?

  • They were the same exact form. I went in with all the weapons forged up to 6 orbs. The only difference was weapon levels.

  • That whole game would make a pretty good manga anime or just tv series

  • I think I've had dreams like that. On a similar note, I remember once my brother and I accidentally turned on Dragon Ball on TV and we assumed at first it was Chrono Trigger in anime form. =P

  • Well, that robot didn't last long. HC: "Lighting bolt his ass!" Great one!

  • hey Hc what settings do you use to record your lps they always come out great can you help me im using camstudio.

  • If Secret of Mana comes after FFA, how come FFA didn't highlight such trains and subways and etc? Hum.

  • I'd say that the way the stories of different Mana games tie together is very similar to the way the stories of different Zelda games tie together. Of course, just like in the Zelda series, there is the occasional genuine sequel (with the Zelda series it's Phantom Hourglass for Wind Waker and Majora's Mask for Ocarina of Time, and for the Mana series it's Heroes of Mana for Seiken Densetsu 3 and Friends of Mana for Legend of Mana), but for the most part the stories are only related thematically.

  • Speaking of Zelda, I started a Link to the Past file after finishing up my last SoM file. I had noticed that the stories in both these games are fairly similar with a legendary sword and legendary hero. Only on Zelda, you know you are the legendary hero from the get go while Randi still has yet to learn that this was his destiny. There is also the 8 palace theme but SoM manages to add in more side quests and has more developed villains. It's like they wanted to make an action RPG Zelda.

  • I used to play this game with my homie back in the day. it brings back memories, thanks for doing this LP. If I remember correctly Dark Stalkers do drop a rare along with some future enemies associated with them (can't say its a spoiler and spoilers are evil powers trying to raid the power of the Mana seeds) =)) Maybe to follow this bad boy up you might want to try Secret of Evermore two player on Hamachi. It would be deadly. Since I don't remember the cartridge game to be a 2 player one.

  • You actually CAN go back up those little walls. All you have to do is stand in front of the wall, charge your weapon to level 1, attack, and PRESTO!! You've successfully gotten past the wall. Also, make sure your level 1 charge attack has a jumping animation or else it won't work. I found this trick out when I got attacked next to those walls, and... I'm sure you know the rest. I think you can actually break this dungeon in half if you exploited that trick.

  • Yup, that is correct. But I don't really do it unless I am chasing a monster down. This part of the game is a very unique area though so skipping it would be denying yourself good content. Seems alot of memory is used to produce the coral section with water falls and then the second area has conveyor belts and subways (yet both have the exact same enemies mostly). Alot of unique textures were used here, perhaps as a reward to players who managed to this far in the game.

  • YAY thanks for making all these awesome vids and helping me out with my let's play!!! If you subscribe that would be great if you don't whatever you're still awesome!!! Anyone who wants to watch my chrono trigger let's play should come see it!!! And please don't spam my comment!!! I mean no harm lol just ASKING if you guys could watch my vids!!!

  • Useless trivia: Kettle Kin uses a chainsaw in the Japanese version of the game. Kind of an odd thing to change in my opinion.

  • I'm not positive, but I think if you passed up any missable weapon orbs before (like the ones in the Imperial Castle, as I often did), they'll show up in the subway area of this dungeon. Can anyone confirm this?

  • Could you not cast dispel on the boss?

  • Dispel doesn't seem to work on Lucid Barrier.

  • Couldn't you just get the cats out of the room before you start recording? o~o

I dunno, you could always just try to ignore them, unless they are clawing at you. XD

  • People seem to find it amusing when they interrupt my videos. It's easier to let them do that in this game than in FF7.

  • Those ducks are

    DEEEEEETHPICIBLE

  • Yay more adventure! Is there anymore magic that you can obtain in this game? I loved it when you said HIYO! When you found a secret. 5/5!

  • Nope, no more magic until you unlock Dryad's mana magic near the end of the game.

  • By the way, HCBailly, since you're such a fan of FFIV, have you read any info on FFIV the After: Return to the Moon (that Japan-exclusive sequel to FFIV for mobile phones)? I read a summary last night. I have to say, it seems kinda stupid, although surprisingly long and possibly quite thorough as well.

  • I havent read anything about the FF4 sequel. It didnt need one. Thats one of the many things that was so great about it. Everything was so neat, clean, and wrapped up nicely.

That said, I did enjoy Advent Children.

  • Yeah, I never really get this...you go through this whole underground city (which is at this point in the game BY FAR the longest dungeon you've been to yet) and what actually happens? We come out the back door, which now connects to where we entered, except that there's now a door in front of the palace. WTF!? *head asplodes*

  • Yeah, good point here. They could have at least put a big switch or a key at the end of the dungeon.

  • Subway start to run immediately after they go in?? Wow, that area is like a maze!!

  • Oh well, at least you didn't have to suplex the train like in FFVI. There were just ordinary zombies on the train. Nothing to worry about. Great job guys!

  • How many times have I referenced Suplexing the Phantom Train now?

  • That guy with the code appears in the room with Watts and Krissy. Sometimes some of the NPCs don't spawn, kinda like the Lofty Mountains Neko.

As for the boss, I have no idea how the developers intended for us to do that fight. I usually melee him down and overpower his barrier but that usually takes quite awhile to do.

Three zones left and thirteen bosses left. This lopsided zone/boss ratio means that the plot escalates quite a bit before you can save the world.

  • I love how JB is always saying "Righto..." whenever you tell him to do something from Warcraft 3.

  • That part is always a pain in the boo tay. Bravo on fitting it all in one video!

  • There were sea scorpions about 500,000,000 years ago.

  • Yeah, except they were REALLY big. These scorpions are just push overs

  • hc baily does your brother have a youtube *if he does is it JBbaily

  • Yeah, but he never checks his messages. He spends most of his free time playing World of Warcraft.

  • That's not his YouTube name. I forget.

  • it would be hillarious if it was

  • "Doors will open on the right at the next stop. Standing passengers, please, avoid the zombies. If you have a weapon, please use it to bludgeon the closest zombie to you so that everyone's ride is smoother and safer. Also, be sure to give up your seat for elderly zombies. Thank you for riding the Underground CTA."

  • 6:20 - It's the Ghost train!

  • The 'scorpions' are there because a certain 'army' brought them.

  • didn't expect a double dragon movie reference, heh

  • awesome job as always, you guys. it was a nice surprise seeing a SoM video this morning

  • You're great HC!

  • Man, this was such a hard part! I'm gonaa subscride, HC, I'm waiting for you to get into Pure Forrest, damn bosses...
