  • You people know that free masonry is not anti religion right? Mozart was as religious a being that ever existed. He constantly spoke in ways such as "God willing..." or "By God..." His love for his God never wavered. He also mentioned more than once in letters to his father his utter disdain for atheists, including not associating with people because they were godless. That is Mozart, a man of faith, as much as that irks people to know the truth.

  • Where's Mozart's cock at so I can suck it? Best opening in music EVER.

  • The best version ever!

  • I bet this guy would be funny to watch on mushrooms

  • Who ever mentions the "J" word again, for whatever reason, should have his eyes scooped out with a spoon and shoved down his throat.

  • faviorite bit 1:27 i just love that i am playing it on piano along with it

  • why does every single conductor i ever see have such epic hair? haha

  • This man conducts from the hair.

  • Beautiful

  • FossilFighter123 so true

I mean it's all about drugs an shit like that

This music is beautiful and it deserves more

  • the magic flute is a metaphor for the royal bloodline of jesus christ it depicts mary magdalines journey to france as she boor the messiahs child and the plite of the priory to keep her life and christs daughter a secret from the vattican and thr reach of its assassins

  • @shaunc89 Actually, Mozart was a Freemason and the whole opera is full of Masonic symbology, legends, and rituals. I read a book on it for a music essay I was writing for university.

  • @shaunc89 Really?

  • @shaunc89 Wow either you're a troll or haven't done your homework. This anything BUT about Christ. xD

  • FOR YOUR HEALTH

    (sorry lol...)

  • wow these music are beautiful. why do people now sing about crazy things and sex? its so gross. but these are awsome.

  • If people have such hatred towards Justin Bieber, someone, then, explain to me why the topic of his music must appear on every music video i watch on youtube?

  • HOCKNEY!!!!

  • Nagyon jó!

  • esto es locura es belleza... es Mozart carajo!!!

  • I put Mozart up there with the greats like Bach and Beethoven. They showed the world what true musical artistry means. Unlike today's brand of music, theirs are still refreshing to listen to centuries after the composers' passing. One cannot say that of today's music and I dare say, musicians. I doubt it anyone will remember the music of the likes of Justin Bieber 20 years from now.

  • @Magnus19681 the hell is justin beiber?

  • @Magnus19681: I share your thoughts.

  • @Magnus19681 You do realise that Bach, Mozart and Beethoven remains today because of those qualities, and just like today there are composers who did not have those qualities and therefore disappeared into the annals of history. I'm a classical musician, but I find some music heard today just as touching as any of the famous composers. The Beatles is just as touching as Mozart for me.

What counts is the quality, not age. There are music of good quality in all ages.

  • I hope all those people clapping have a painful death for ruining the calmness and making noise after this beautiful music ends

  • My chorus is singing this song, arranged for voices, it's sooo awesome, I can't get enough of it! We call it the Super Flute xD :) Thank you for posting this! <3

  • CRISTO VIVO !

  • Shut up and listen to the music !

  • Comment removed

  • He also was a Freemason and was initiated in the Austrian lodge Zur Zur Wohltatigkeit on Dec. 14th 1784. Mozart’s creations often incorporated important Masonic elements. The Magic Flute opera was mainly based on Masonic principles.

Just thought people would like to know. Either Zur Zur or Wur Wur or whatever... i still appreciate and love His music. Beautiful!

  • @APokeInTheEye But Mozart didn't write the play, the libretto is by Emmanuel Shickaneder, Mozart only composed the music. You know this don't you?. However some people propose that Mozart had "hidden" Masonic elements translated into musical phrases in the score, but i am reluctant to such indication,i believe the only thing Mozart thought of when composing was the music and the music itself flowing through him. Music itself actually has no message, it is were the spirit lives.

  • @Maxweckl No I didn't know that, but thank you very much for enlighting me about this and thanks for the proper response, it's really rare, especially on YouTube and especially when the issue is freemasons or other fraternities/societies.

And I almost totally agree with the latter part :]

    Peace, You good fellow!

  • @APokeInTheEye and such a response is also very rare these days, im delighted. Peace to you aswell!

  • @21farenheit & @1973retrorabbit cool grammar fight guys lololol

  • @brerliv It dispels the boredom. I love when people get all wound up and start ranting incoherently about things they don't understand, the spelling and grammar shows the level of incoherance. I imagine there is steam coming out of his ears, like in a cartoon...

    Makes me laugh. ;-)

  • Pardon my lack of politeness, but this was ORGASMIC!

  • What kind of Muppet asks if the conducter plays any part at all? please...

The conducter not only controls tempo and inflection on the night but has also worked with the orchestra, often for months on a single piece to get the piece sounding just so...

It is however true to say that if there is a bad conductor up front most (good) orchestras will go into autopilot and play anyway... but with less edge and feeling and a slight risk of going out of time.

  • @1973retrorabbit @AgApE010 Thank you for the reply 1973 but don't forget we all came from a place of learning once. Just because Agape didn't know the role of the conductor but was eager to learn; doesn't mean we should chide them. However, your answer was very accurate, but be nice to the newbies to Opera, we don't want to scare them off or make them think we're elitist prudes. :)

  • @1973retrorabbit Bullshit. The conductor is not really needed. Any good ,experienced orchestra can play with out a conductor, once they are familiar with the piece and their own playing. It just looks better with a conductor in front. Also, what would chubby boy do ,he'd be out of a job

  • @21farenheit Alas my question is answered! you are that kind of muppet!

If you read my post I pointed out that the conductor works with the orchestra for months on a single piece this would make them "familiar" with the piece, also it would look better with a laser show and a ballet dancing hippo but alas this would not bring out the subtle moods or keep the timing correct in the piece quite as well as the conductor does.

Side note a comma comes after a word and before a space. like, this!

  • @1973retrorabbit Still bull. The orchestra doesn't need the conductor to keep the timing correct nor for " subtle moods". The composer wrote that down in the music. Many a time conductors ruin a great composition by intruding with their own dopey interpretation.

Side note: You sentence "Side note a coma comes after", etc. After "side note" you have to use either a comma or a colon, the way I did. Just basic grammar.

  • @21farenheit The correct use of punctuation is not “grammar”, Maybe I'm just playing with semantics now.

"You sentence"! I think you probably meant “your sentence”.

"Etc." is an abbreviation and does not require a capital letter after the stop.

Comma, is a punctuation mark, coma is a medical condition.

I should have used a colon or a comma: after a colon you list things, or state facts. A comma would not have been correct in any way, shape or form.

  • @1973retrorabbit You're wrong, correct punctuation is part of grammar. You corrected me for nort spelling "comma" correctly. It was obviously a typo since I used the word again in the next sentence and spelled it correctly. Therefore, I obviously know how to spell the word. You are nitpicking like a petulant schoolgirl. You are also wrong about your previous sentence: Side note a comma, etc. After "Side note' you should have used a comma in order to clarify the sentence.

  • @21farenheit Punctuation is part of grammar, but then so is syntax. There is however another word for correct punctuation, as punctuation is a fairly small component of grammar.

I'll not correct anymore of your spelling... or should that be, I'll nort correct anymore of you spelling? hmm...

  • @21farenheit A colon ( : ), is a punctuation mark, used when you are going to state facts or list something, like the list of problems with your English skills. It can also be used to replace the word "thus" or "the following".

A semi-colon ( ; ), is a punctuation mark used to link two sentances that are closely related. e.g. I have spent most of today correcting this guy's punctuation; it sucks cheese.

I could go on and explain the use of commas for you, if you like. ;-)

  • @1973retrorabbit Interesting that in your little grammar dissertation about the colon and semi-colon you didn't continue on to the comma. You merely wrote: "I could go on and explain the use of commas for you, if tou like.' Well, I dont like, cause you don't know how to use a comma. If you did you would of put a comma in your previous statement "Side note a comma, etc.' After "Side note " you should of put a comma. You better consult the grammar book that you ran to find in the atic once again.

  • @21farenheit You... again... "your" I would tend to presume?

I could go on to explain the comma to you, but if you read any of the previous posts, you would find it was properly used in all of them and as such, the proper use of them would become aparent, if you actually read them. Alternatively, if you pick up a book and read that, maybe you would be able to figure this stuff out for yourself.

Oh, after side not, like I said before, I should have used a colon not a comma.

  • @21farenheit General advice: Try to remain calm when sending messages and typing generally, it could improve the accuracy with which your chubby little fingers mash the keyboard.

tou? I presume should be you... yes... no? hmmm...

I really have become tired of trying to help you with this stuff. (maybe you should return to using punctuation like this...> ;-)

  • @1973retrorabbit By the way, in your little gossipy schoolgirl comment to the other person you spelled "incoherence" incorrectly ; it's with an e, not an a. I guess you are so preocupied correctimg all my spelling errors, you're too busy to see your own God forbid anyone does. It will be the end of you!

  • @21farenheit Starting a sentence with a preposition...

I don't think I could correct all your spelling errors, you are one of a generation to used to MS Word doing that for you. I can only imagine your whole life is spent with red and green lines under everything you do.

On the upside (excepting the misplaced "space"), you did use a semi-colon correctly... well done you, give yourself a gold star.

Thank you for pointing out my typo, and after spelling it correctly the first time too! oh well!

  • @1973retrorabbit Boy, you never learn, do you? You acuse me of misspelling and you misspell. Of course, in your case it's a "typo". By the way you wrote: ...generation to used,etc.". The correct word is "too', not "to". Another typo, right? The word "apparent". is spelled with two ps, not one. Shall I go on?, as you would say in your pompous, annoying styl

  • @21farenheit I thought it best to do things as you do... miss out letters, spell things wrongly and generally butcher the English language, in the way you do in your "atic" later claiming it a typo. Is that not how you do things?

My real worry for you is, although I'm only doing this for fun (noising you up, so to speak), this may be the closest thing to a relationship you're likely to have, besides maybe your pillow or right hand.

Just adding colour to your dull life.

    Irony isn't a vitamin.

  • @1973retrorabbit When you write sentences like, "I presume should be you..yes,,no? humm" or "You again ..your.. I would tend to presume.' What the hell is that? Who the hell talks like that? It's not witty , ironic funny or whatever you may think it is It's just plain frickn annoying. I get a ver gross mental picture of you saying these things with a limp wrist and with your index finger in your mouth.

  • @1973retrorabbit Dude, your sick in the head. I hope your not over 18, cause if you are, you got a problem You have so much hidden resentment inside. Thats why your so annoying to everyone and you got nothing better to do than go on line all day and pick on peopl's little foibles so you don't have to look at yourself.

  • supposedly he can play any songs with that gestures. my friend from one of these things told me that you he could even play bieber song. weird huh :)

P.S: fuck bieber & and his popularity...

  • Not to sound ignorant, but can someone enlighten me concerning what role the conductor plays in all this? I notice him waving his hands in gestures; is there any real method behind it?

  • Is it me or is this video badly out of sync?

  • @horsedreamer it might be you, but the conductor is also ahead of the orchestra so that they know what's coming.

  • Bravo widows son!

  • What you have to remember is that Mozart had no idea that people would be able to listen to his music again and again for years and still find something new and refreshing each time. I have been listening to Mozart's music regularly for more than 50 years and still can't get enough. Mozart will be remembered as long as mankind exists

  • @Plymouthpilot I agree completely with you, I just can't resist his magic, creativity and of course, "geniusness"...HE was THE BEST, and will remain as the KING of Classical Music, what would he compose if he'd live in this era??....Regards.

  • I was amused by watching the conducter! :)

  • @BobbyFischer0000 Yep :) You're right! Thanks for correcting me. I've been playing a lot of Mozart lately, and it's awesome!

  • awesome

  • la musica e' questa

  • The conductor is a don lad

  • I saw this when I was in 5th grade at the met (a dress run of corse), I liked it, it's the only opera I saw... and probably the only opera I will ever see. :) But I would see it again if I had the chance, but I'm not a big opera person.

  • Its the afro that gives him the power of awesome x10. haha great conducting.

  • a good performance, miserable trolls commenting

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • just a great !!!

  • @redSHIFT69 The only comment to be expected from US.

  • @zonQe ---that's prejudice....just think of all the people attending Levine's performance, and Levine himself...isn't he not American?. Come on....

  • @redSHIFT69 right and pyraminds should b demolished 2k years ago ... just open your ears

  • @redSHIFT69 woooow you are truly clueless. Without "shit" like this you wouldn't have what you're listening to day. This isn't just kicking it REALLY old school. This stuff is still prominent and taught today. What do you think people who earn a degree in music study today? Lady Gaga?

  • @musicismymotive lol i was being sarcastic. i dig mozart and studied classical music ;]

  • Playing this in my schools symphonic orchestra. I play the bassoon which means i get a solo at 2:42. Luckily we dont go as fast as this orchestra.

  • can someone please tell me the meter, texture, and dynamics of this please? thanks

  • @fossilbox1991 that's really big stuff you're asking for. the meter can go from 75 Bpm to 110-130 Bpm.(during one performance taking into account the variations Mozart did from Adagio to Allegro and backwards)

dynamics are: FF;P;F;FF;F basically (obviously there are more but I included just the "main themes")

The texture is Homophonic (It could be also a little bit of counterpoint but I'm not quite sure of that; therefore Homophonic)

  • @parodycreator25 ok....well thanks alot for the info! i really appreciate it

  • Waw... Perfect

  • Just bought my tickets for the Dallas Opera performance of Magic Flute in April.

Cannot wait, this is on my bucket list.

  • 81 dislikes!!! In my view the best Opera Overture ever written!

  • @TurpDotNet Composed ,pardon.

  • james levine is always stunning...

  • Dude this guys is as good as justin beeber

  • @ThePandoh this is a joke, isn't it?

  • @ThePandoh

Justin should bless the day he even gets to kiss the dust of Mozart's shadow.IMHO.

  • My university is performing this in November and I bought two tickets! I hope it doesn't run over 4 hours long like that last opera they did...

  • I am really looking for studying Mozart's Operas. I am a piano student, and I tought for many years that, in order to understand Mozart's music, I had to study his piano works. His real passion was Opera, he loved the human voice, and his music is more understandable once you relate opera with any of his works, for example, Piano Sonata Nº 8 is very related to his Paris operas. I hope I can get closer to Mozart's music in this way.

  • 149

  • one of the best pieces of music ever wriiiten.

  • @autumntree2011 Ditto!!! If I was a black female I'd be highly insulted as all you see on tv or in movies is white female with black guy...it's their little way of pushing white men out, but they are also insulting black women by insinuating that if they have a choice all men want a white woman...seems like that would anger black women.

  • Stop trolling guys... We take those comments seriously, even though we know you're trolling

  • @HankieDude17 Then stop worrying and whining about the comments, enjoy the music instead!

  • What a passionate conductor! He interprets the music wonderfully - a lovely overture and piece of work.

  • delightful.

  • She made my heart pound

I skip a beat when I see her in the street

And at school on the playground

But I really wanna see her on a weekend

She know she got me dazin' 'cause she was so amazin'

And now my heart is breakin' but I just keep on sayin'

    Baby

  • i can't believe my eyes . every were is justin bieber . how can you tallk about justin on mozart music (i'm from romania ) and i saw that people talks about that damn bieber everywere on mozart' operas. my question in , are you retarded?

  • @ionutdementul its just that most of the internet users are young people, and these people use to hear justin, so they talk about justin.... :-))

  • @ionutdementul You said a mouthful, they're either under the age of 8-years-old or are mentally retarded. I saw a home movie depicting a barely school-aged girl crying for J.B., sobbing that she loved and wanted him between gasps for air, now how's that for pathetic? That's typical in here America and is a fine example of one of the many things wrong with people today.

  • @ionutdementul the irony is i might very well miss his name if it wasn't for your comment at the top, and yes people are stupid and you can't prevent that because they have the right to be idiots

  • @ionutdementul If it's any consolation, I don't think anyone will remember Justin Bieber in 200 years.

  • @squamish4244

    or in 5 years.

  • @zabrincitaz Hmmm I give him 3 years. But 5 tops.

  • @squamish4244 To be quite honest, its questionable whether they'll even remember Mozart in 200 years, what with the way our culture is going. :(

  • @andrewMLhero mozart will always be remembered, on the other hand, beiber and his counterparts will fade away after a few years like all other modern teen popstar idols, never reaching even a toe highth to mozart's level.

  • @squamish4244 who is justin bieber

  • @ionutdementul why are you talking about him, too? Please be quiet and enjoy the music

  • MUZIO CLEMENTI!

  • Masonic!!

  • @ValiuMirvel

    Come again?

  • @ValiuMirvel Indeed it is, this whole opera is a Masonic master piece by a Master Mason or Bro. W.A. Mozart. (I can't remember his lodge no. off the top of my head right now tho).

  • Too fast !!!

Where is the mason majesty of the Mozart's masterpiece ?

  • excelentný dirigent tento James Levine, strašne sami páči... :-) Poklona pred ním... a ešte je aj bravúrny klavirista... super...

  • I'm playing this in class now

  • 1:26 starts a mini fugue.

  • I loved the set and James Levine's conducting was simply marvalous. One of opera's best musical to boot.

  • good.

  • i come for the epic afro, the music is a sweet bonus.

  • epic

  • Any music that makes my foot tap is my kind of music. Bravo Mozart you got me tapping with both feet..

  • This song is actually about freemasonry :)

  • The sets look fantastic. I wish they did these in my city, better than a Hollywood blockbuster.

  • his music is so great and relaxing

  • Just found out that they made a SEQUEL to The Magic Flute. I was like "Whaaaaaattt"

  • James Levine looks like he's having a ball doing this. I've never seen a conductor who loves the magic flute as much as him. Did anyone see him conduct the production in 2006 directed by Julie Teymore (pre-spiderman)? It looked like he had just as much fun.

  • You really think the author of this kind of music had a feeling an expression when the made the music? I do

i don't know the feeling the author had. So i just go with the flow and it is an amazing music experience!!

  • @hashrygeren I am not sure whether Mozart recognized Beethoven's talent or whether Beethoven saw Mozart's genius. I see them both as completley different musicians. Mozart, the natural talent with perfect scores whereas if you study Beethoven's scores, they are all messy. Mozart composes from the gut wherease Beethoven composes from the brain. Incomparable.

    Personally, I am a Mozartian.

  • ^^-

  • @hashrygeren Youl'll be pleased to learn that Mozart and Beethoven did meet ! In fact the young Beethoven was taking piano lessons from Mozart in the months preceding Mozart's death

  • @maropolo1180 yes!! and Mozart said, the world had better watch out for this one! I always thought that was awesome!

  • @maropolo1180 that has not been a proven fact, the only known documentation found was by Otto Jahn, who was not a first hand witness to the event. But it is true that Beethoven revered Mozart as a master of music.

  • Beautiful! Thank you!

  • THIS. Is music. Besides that I still love metal and deathcore and countryshit

  • Sarastro is a bad ass

  • do not compare apples with pears.

all music is worth listening to for all kinds of people. this is a marvelous piece of music, but so is 'the wall' of pink floyd and beatifull people of Mellanie.....

leave Bieper for the Bieper lovers and enjoy whatever you like, but do not forget to look over the wall every now and then.

  • This is it !!! True music !

  • @55Killerserial you are Awsome!

well besides your name of cource

  • CLEVELAND SHOW, x)

  • I would pay the full ticket price just for that rendition of the overture. Just amazing.

  • Freaking love this but it is damn hard to play...

  • James Levine is damn good. in full control of his musicians.

  • WARNING: YouTube comments found underneath otherwise intellectual and beautiful works of art have been known to cause MENTAL DISCOMFORT, BRAIN DAMAGE AND LOSS OF INTELLIGENCE. Viewer discretion is advised!

  • @Everyman1337 wow you were right. LOL! Oh no now this one will be below it adding to it. :|

  • @Everyman1337 I like your sense of humor and your words do hold truth as well as wisdom

  • MOZART RULEZ

  • Comment removed

  • How people could not be moved by the true classics is WAY beyond me.

  • If Youtube's classical repertoire has taught me one thing, it is the meaning of the word 'pedantic'

  • Levine appears relaxed and to be having a good time, and this flows through to the music.

For people who feel annoyed by the mention of much inferior music or so-called musicians here, don't worry, when their music is out of 'fashion' and collecting dust in the bargain bin at the record store (in about five years?), this masterpiece will still be enthralling listeners for many years to come.

  • That guy's so funny and awesome. I couldn't help but grin at his exuberantly calculated antics.

  • it would be so nice to watch a video and read responses that do not include comparsions to Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. (especially in the classical format). It belittles us all- and please lose that awful habit. This musical genre is not comparable to The Monkees, Boyz To Men, NKOTB, or any of the fad-driven talentless heretofore mentioned. Kindly refrain from making those childish and malformed allusions.

  • @xenophonon123 Yeah, u tell 'em :P

  • @xenophonon123 I agree with you totally but why say what should go without saying. I think it best to ignore such comments as you have mentioned

  • @xenophonon123

You just did it your jackass.

  • @viperbcannonmafia

best of luck in the fifth grade (again); maybe you will pass this time.

  • @xenophonon123

    What are you talking about?

  • @xenophonon123 you are 100% right about what you are saying but such people as you mentioned should simply be ignored

  • @xenophonon123 If anything, one can compare two classical composers in a constructive way but compare classical music to modern music is just silly.

  • @xenophonon123 Finally a voice of reason!
