Use you I Q to help the lock Co. Prevent thieve from getting into people's stuff. Please. I don't see what guys like you are trying to achieve. You Had to have open it from the Tom. If you had no Key and did not know how the keys are Cut, You couldn't
Have. With you looking at the Key cut, It took you 7minutes.
I don't know. If it opened up that quick, it must not be that high security. Just because it is big doesn't make it high security. Oh well, congrats on your pick.
The Rail Road was sent to S&G by the FBI and thats when the enviro padlock was designed, around 1981, yeah old but good stuff.rumer that switches will be axuillary/satilite type yeah as you know everyone has a key.
The RR version is 3 Disk w/2sidebars and there is a 5 disk too.Lock body powdered metal process.shackle case hardened or stainless available, Hardened shackle is no longer available in 81-1 (9/16Dia)
also the shackle is made from high carbon steel.the body is softer crome-plated steel & is designed to take a beating. The only way to "pick" that lock is to get all three discs to the correct positions & turn the cylinder without turning the discs.you had to know where to place each disc prior to picking it.its Hard to pick but its easy to make keys for them if you know the disc combination which are printed on the real keys just like Masterlock so you can buy 1 from a locksmith & make your own
of the 2 locks in your vid,the 1 you referred to as yours is the very same one used by the union pacific railroad. There are currently up to 28 different keys for that lock.wizs lock uses key #240 which is a variation of the same discs used in the other lock used by the railroad.the key you made of 5/16" steel rod and is not the actual key.I have seen what the railroad guys use and those locks cost between $75 - $100 bucks each!
This padlock is not considered High Security.3 pin cylinder. That cylinder is designed to operate under any out door condition, I have seen them poor sand in the cylinder at the factory and they still operate, very loose tolarances.
they are for extreme out door use.
You will not open the smaller keyway as easy or if at all
redbird, this Q is for you, wiz told me to ask you. 3 discs??? wow. whats so secure about it? i mean if by secure you mean the locks construction as far as shackle and case, then i agree fully, but. they could have done a little bit better with the key and locking mechinism, this lock has a brother with a better keyway, more discs
The Security of this lock comes thru obscurity the keyway profile while nothing fancy is resricted meaning only sargent makes blanx and they dont sell them to anyone unless you buy a lock with it also since this lock is only used by large instutional customers ie rail roads, power companies ,telco companies and the like little is publicly know of the workings of this lock unless you have realy done your research and of course it is very physicaly secure
exactly how many discs and about how at are each one,,,, looking at the key, it looks like one would only need to rotate one of the discs,, excellent vid
You've got the patience and calmness of a hindu cow! I can honestly say i dont have the patience you have Red. Something for me to work on. Fantastic stuff.
awsome, whered you get it??????? i collect lcks and i have hundreds but i have none of sargent and greenleaf. where you able to pick it open?? if so get a vid up
hey wiz, i checked that vid out, i have to agree with "lockmaster000" that key doesnt look...well...very secure or impersonating, can you clear that up for me??? if you can

So you don't need a tension tool?
thedragonsmith1 8 months ago
so if you mixed creamed corn, salt, mud, and, dust in that lock washed it off, it would still work

yes, i also agree it doesn't exactly "look" very secure.
in fact there are only 3 discs in this lock,
but dont judge a book by its cover.
it is super HIGH security
i hope to be able to pick this lock one day,
but i am still working on principles in disc-detainer/abloy type locking systems.
maybe in a few more months..=)
