To me, the bridge pickup (SD Custom 5) isn't a good choice. It's a ceramic one and I'd prefer an alnico. Of course that's just a question of taste but I'd like to know if the mahogany body and the maple table are really massive ?
As far as I can judge its not so heavy weighted, at least that specific guitar which I had. Compared to old greco lp of my friend this washburn was somewhat lighter. But it is definetely heavier than ordinary strat-like guitar.
@BUBBASIMS not quite.. at least not for all of them. some of the 66 pro's have a push pull for the vcc to turn it on or off now. so thats the other difference
Thanks for comment. I checked out your video, white wi45 looks great! By the way, it looks like there is ebony fingerboard though it should be rosewood)
I use "ostap custom" 18watt amplifier - it is alltube handmade amp by russian craftsman Kirill Ostapov. Cab is 1*12 with celestion greenback. As for guitar - I just replace stock tb11 with sh4 humbucker. That's all equip I use here)
cool. i am thinking about buying this guitar. i own a LP classic. what do you think about the VCC. as you were saying its not saturated like others due to the custom custom being more rock and roll. ive heard complaints about the VCC but i also understand that every guitarist has different needs. i play metal like you ratt and tesla, dokken megadeth/metallica and such. also what do you think about the build quality?
Thanks. I have to say that personally I have found VVC in some way useless for my purposes so I always kept it in 'humbucker mode'. For me low gain/crunch or something like SRV stuff sounds better in neck+bridge humbuckers mode, hi gain riiffs - on the bridge and clean sound great in any case :)
As for build quality - I wasn't able to find any defect, so I think it is good enough.
As for bridge pickup - on this record it is actually sh4 in the bridge. Sh4 gives a bit more solid palm mute for riffs but the difference is not so crucial for my ears.
I owned this guitar about 6 months and was happy with how it sounds, may be not so rich and 'saturated' as japan lp replicas like greco but still solid enough for me. Finally I found that what superstrat form just suits me better than lp))
My expirience shows that it stays in tune well if tuned properly (you know, when tuning a string you check that pitch is correct after you bend it).
That guitar+song=pure awesome!

Actually the WI45 is the exact same guitar as the 66. The only difference is that the 66 comes stock with a $160 pair of Seymour Duncans

Are there tone controls on these models ? If these feature two VCC and two volumes, how to cut some treble ?
jp6l6 2 years ago
I think it should be 'sunburst', but Im not 100% sure how exactly washburn call it.

How are you liking that guitar? How long have you had it? Does it stay in tune well?
