ARE TAXPAYERS SUBSIDIZING CRACK COCAINE? NUTS AND BOLTS; FOOD STAMP VISA CARD. The card is suppose to have a computerized safeguard built into it so that the recipients cannot buy vice items like cigarets, wine or beer. I was at Walmart recently and was the checkout line behind someone using a FOOD STAMP VISA CARD. I was amazed to watch the person buy 2 liters of soda, swipe the FOOD STAMP VISA CARD, enter their pin and then get a wad of cash back. ALEX SINK IS BUSY COUNTING PAPERCLIPS!
I am all for saving money. But sharing that our tax dollars went to inventory paperclips and pens at state offices?
1000 paperclips @ Staples = 4.49, Office Depot = 5.59. Average cost above = .005 per unit x 402,419 paperclips at the state that they will not order until used up..equals the HUGE savings of $2012.9.
HOW MUCH $ did they pay in labor to count the paperclips? Build the website to manage paperclips? How about the labor to move the paperclips from 1 state off to another?

I read some years ago that costs go way up when stocking government offices. Nothing they use is cheap.

I agree..that's what we used to say was being penny wise & pound foolish. They probably spent $15,000 in order to 'save' $5,000.
