Ok.. Since there seems to quite the commotion about this video. That is a Desert Eagle .50AE (action express). Kevlar vests are made to protect your from bullets (no der). A class III vest is made to stop up to a .44 mag round, and kevlar vests can be made to protect you from rifle rounds if ballistic plates are added. These types of armor (soft armor) are not designed to stop a bullet but catch it. It's like a soccer net not a brick wall. So they will give some, their purpose is to prevent the bullet from penetrating enough to be fatal. That being said the bullet could have broken the bottle without going through. However these types of vests are not rated for .50 cals. Hard armor stops bullets in their tracks and can stop Desert Eagles, AK-47s, they are very heavy and dexterity restrictive though.
