I remember watching this when I was eight. I taped newspaper to the floor like a balance beam, convinced my mom to get a big scrap of blue carpet to put in the backyard so I could tumble, my dad installed a pull-up bar in my bedroom doorway, and I used the couch as a vault. Oh, the simple joy of being young and thinking you're so awesome :P
I wish I could've been there. Everybody who was there and was able to witness this is truly lucky. They watched a huge day in the history of American Women's Gymnastics.
@cutiepatootie120 Yes they did and it must have been awesome. But I feel sorry for the other teams there as the noise must have been horrendously loud, more than they had ever come across before. I know they train so they are able to block out noise from their surroundings, but that place was so loud it definitely spooked some of them, especially the Russians.
Does it bother anyone else that in the fluff piece in the beginning, John Tesh said, "These are the faces of seven little girls..." but it shows Amanda and Dominque M. twice, and never shows Amy or Jaycie?
Because this Olympics was the SHIZZZ!!! lol. I don't know why, but the '96 Olympics is the only Olympics that everyone, even those who weren't into some of these sports, watched. It was just interesting, plus gymnastics finally got the recognition it deserved.
Like in the medal ceremony, at 3:08 the camera has to dip down for Dominique when they're walking into the arena. I don't know how big she was here, but at the Nationals right before it she was four foot five and seventy pounds.
she makes her twisting barley noticible... like her double arabian on floor.. OMG yah she has the ?BEST double front 1/2 out dismounti have everrrr seen!
NOW is it me or was THAT dismount by Strug @ 01:11 friggin ugly !!!!!! ughhhh

I like that Jaycie is able to ot of her jaeger, her bail to hand is actually in handstand. It just looks better than the horizontal ones people do.

This is still one of my favorite memories. I was there in the Georgia Dome. I can still feel that energy.
