Forget sectarianism and the "Troubles". This was mass murder, committed by a group of psychopaths. The Troubles merely gave these disgusting, vile murderers the means and opportunity to carry out their heinous acts.

If this happened anywhere else they'd be termed 'serial killers'. The fact is, is that they ambushed, tortured and brutally murdered defenseless and innocent people from BOTH sides of the conflict. These animals should be seen for what they really are.........the enemy of mankind..

ok, sorry, didn't mean to come across as a know-it-all, it's just that this film annoys me so much. anyway, i highly recommend reading the book, it describes all of the evernts surrounding the shankill butchers in great detail...

yeah, of course it's a fictionalization, but the writer/director would have done well to stick to the facts instead of making up their own wee weird version and adding a few instances that are mentioned in 'the shankill butchers' book. the inclusion of said scenes is an insult to the intelligence of the audience, of course the film is based on the butchers, but to be so blatant is an amateur move - anyone who has read the book would agree...

this film is disgusting - i am a protestant from east belfast, and i'm very loyal to the crown - but to me, this film is a disgrace to say the least. not only is it an amateur attempt to show a story from 'the other side' as opposed to every other film being pro-IRA, but it is also a very good example of how someone can take a set of facts + a true story with some memorable characters and bastardize it all beyond belief. an absolute insult to everybody, including the audience.

The movie world just love to glamorize The Troubles.

After having Pierce Brosnan, Mickey Rourke, Richard Gere and Brad Pitt siding with the IRA, they had to put heart-throb, puffy-faced Mr Charlize Theron as a psychotic loyalist killer (not even slightly resembling Lenny Murphy).

Next they´ll have George Clooney as Ian Paisley

Stuart is Irish just like Pierce Brosnan he play this role more than good. His roles are not overrated like many American actors.. It is to sad that Hollywood knows him only as Mr Charlize Theron.

I watched this movie in the midnight in Bulgaria and now I love it!!!! There are in Russia organisations , which believe in old slavic gods and kills christians and men, who don't look like slavs. I found yhis in the newspappers and the style of killing was like this of Victor Kelly.
