@TheBrownBaron If you are on about the DS9 Clips, thats the way the special effects team did it for DS9.

If i remember right, they thought this made the scenes look more gritty and "dog fight" style than the likes of ST:TNG. Personally, i agree with that sentiment.

If you are on about the Clips from Star Wreck :- In the Pirkining, its because they wernt working in the alternate dimension.

Either way, remember, Sci Fi is 99% Artistic License.

Deep space nine is a perfect example, Almost no shield animations, personally, i prefer it that way.

Sure, fits the bill, dramatic and sci-fi ish, but dozens of other people had the same idea, besides, i went to great legnths to time it with that music so, it works, if you dont like it, thats your choice, I wont apologise for doing something a bit different, but coming in and posting with a foul mouth isnt neccessary.

The federation have the tactics and maneuverability, but suffer from with a slow phaser recharge rate and limited torpedos I'm therefore pretty sure that the amount of fire power from a battlestar would out gun any ship on this vid as long as it could keep it's defenses up, as for the borg looks like they turned up to mop up the stragglers. shame you didn't add a load of star destroyers and tie fighters / interceptors great vid though five stars love it

each sci-fi's space battles have their own style and perks, making each unique. i love watching phasers, torpedoes, and shields as much as I love watching particle lasers, interceptors, pulse cannons, Shadow cutting beams, and so on. BSG battles are nice too, so are Stargate and, heck, even Star Wars (although it still seems childish to me). However, I first fell in love with Babylon 5 and it will remain as the best sci-fi for me perhaps until I die.

Has it ever occured to people that at the Battle of Chintoka, that the Defiant appears to be the only vessel to have shields as the other starships get damaged from the first hit?

@NCC1701J that and also what seems like minor hull damage would disable their ships and they star free floating... when compared to NX-ent having 40% of its hull blown off and it can still go into battle. I mean even voyager was battered to a similar level and still was able to go into battle at the end of "the year of hell".

The B5 battles involving the Vorlons were always good. i wish somebody would re-release the entire series with Higher Def. CGI. The season 1 ships look embarrasisng now.

B5's battles were the most exhilarating to watch even though the CGI wasn't great. BSG adopted some of their shaky camera from B5. Trek battles are cool too but they were more tactical and slower.
