Actually, nuns do offend me. People who lie to children, scare them, and want them to be taught nonsense in school don't sit well with me for some reason. Also, I always hear that muslim women 'could' show their hair but choose not too, but have yet to see one make good on this statement. Covering your body due to any religious reason is clearly a sign of one's lowly, pitiful state. And it's an insult. Your hair doesn't need covering because nothing is disrespectful about it in the first place.
@ButtPoopWiggle P.S. no one says hair is "disrespectful". Hair is beautiful. It's a part of feminine beauty. If it wasn't why to women spent hundreds of dollars on haircuts colors, trims, and styling?
Also, for the sake of discussion, I do not wear hijab full time in real life because my family refuses to accept it, and I live with them. But I can speak from experience on both sides of the matter. I personally always feel more dignified and confident in hijab. So why should your opinion matter?
All religion is BS but islam might be the worst. There isn't enough room to go into detail. Christopher Hitchens says it best. I still can't understand the head-covering. Why could I show my hair if I were muslim, but not you? It's offensive to me. I wish muslim women in particular would shed the mind-manacle, and have more respect for themselves.
@ButtPoopWiggle I could easily show my hair if I wanted to. I choose not to.
It boggles my mind that people feel 'offended' by someone elses choice to cover. Are you equally offended at women who choose to walk around in bikinis? How about nuns? Do they offend you?
More importantly, how does covering ones body equate to lack of self respect? I see no logic in this.
At the end of the day, I don't tell you what to wear. Afford me the same courtesy and stop telling me what I should wear. The end.
It would be very interesting if someone could compile some statistics on sheer spousal abuse (Not just a lack of rights, but abuse itself) and how much it happens in predominantly Muslim countries as opposed to, say, predominantly Christian countries or secual countries.
It just kills me that the actions of an individual Muslim will be used to demonised all Muslims but the actions of an individual non-Muslim get seen as just that. But when I point out that hypocrisy to people, I'm apparently a "Muslim apologist" who is "justifying terrorism".
@amhemsley Yes, that bothers me a lot too. I've been told that simply because I'm a Muslim, that means by default I support spousal abuse and terrorism... not to mention other horrible cultural practices. The whole "painting all with one brush" thing seems rather common these days. Historically, too... and if history is any representation of the future, I'm quite fearful.
Thank you for the comment, and for sticking up for logic and consistency. Peace :)
ok women listen to my words if ur parents chose for u a man thn they knw tht he is better for u no body puts their daughters in evil hands, u knw i hv seen alot of girls who listens to their parents and get married with a man who they like those women gets a good life with their husband thts coz ur parents will be happy and they always pray for u bt if u got thm made they will leave u and also Allah will be angry on u and u knw its not good.everything happnds for a reason.
Wooooooow. You are wonderful! Alhamdulilah. You are brilliant in your mentioning about us needing to speak to our own that our painting an ugly picture of Islam. And also in your mention of these muslim countries not having a actual Islamic basis. Hamza Yusuf, a Muslim American scholar once said that a moroccan scholar told him that if the muslims in these countries applied what Buddha taught, they would be closer to what Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. taught than what they are on today. Salam, Love.
Man... I'm a Saudi guy. And I'm dying to go to America to portray what Islam truly is. Dear sister, may Allah bless you. May I suggest something? I train Public Speaking. And we put a great deal of emphasis on eliminating Filler words. Such as Um, Ah, etc.. I honestly think your messages' impact could dramatically improve just by working on that. Remember, Allah loves it when His servants work that they do it perfectly..
problem nu 1. there are muslim women who agitate against the mix of cuture and religion, due to tragedies that happend to them. In Europe the are more and more asians who turn against their own culture.
2. The dialog between muslims and europeans is not going good. I can only go good if europe would suporrt muslims, but now it tends to do otherwise. it's a hard issue here.
I agree with you that it's an epidemic in the U.S. It has nothing - nothing whatsoever - to do with Islam, or any other religion. Look at women in Iran and Afghanistan, two muslim countries that border eachother. In one, women can vote, get jobs, etc. and next door they cannot (U.S. occupation has something to do with it).
Domestic violence is a problem in many communities, I have never witnessed it myself, however I know that any women I know would report it too the police straight away, adding to the statistic, do muslim women tell the police that they or their children are being beaten?
Is there support or is it expected that you just take it.
How does the muslim law deal with men who are reported for violence against their family.
I agree with what you say, but just for the sake of it I must say... it seems "some" try to use their religion (no matter how wrong they are) as justification for violence agaisnt women, where others in the world do not.
Also apparently a Muslim can do no wrong to a non-Muslim... fair?
Masha'allah great job my sister in Islam. how has been siad about Islam by western media and this reality propaganda against the islam religion
but talking about realy Islam is the only solution for human. Islam never opress women as some westren argue this fine sister brought apure idea about islma and how treated to women.
Why would you convert to a religion that allows men to beat you? Why take the choice you have away from yourself? Knowing all this hatred why become apart of it? I am a black Christian woman that grew up with Islam relatives and they were all cruel and men and their wives left them and Islam evntually. I respect Islam. I study sufism. Gave me a better relationship with God but I will NEVER convert to Islam. My life My freedom. My choice is too valuable.
It's interesting for me to recognize that a lot of people have a skewed perspective of Islam because they knew a cruel Muslim in their history... I suppose we are a sum of our experiences, and that molds our perspectives.
Personally, I was raped and beaten by a non-religious Christian... and the two people who helped me not to go into a downward spiral of self loathing and possible suicide were Muslims.
You may have a choice here but in other Islamic and traditionally patriarchial countries women don't have the choice. Their husbands are chosen for them and when they are married and many are under the age of 14! Also, I grew up with American muslim aunts and they ALL left their husbands after years of abuse. My uncle whenever he would enter a room she'd have to stand and he'd always take her seat and she'd sit on the floor. That's not nice to do to the woman that birthed and rased your child
Muslim women are given the right to choose their own husbands. Any other way is against our religion. You are mixing culture with religion, which many non-Muslims do, as well as Muslims themselves.
Marriage in Islam requires mutual agreement (Ijab o Qubul) by the groom AND the bride.
I'm uninterested in hearing what some misguided Muslims do, and then labeling it Islam. That's unfair, and it's not reality.
Some people are scum. I've met scum from all religions.
So, obviously my experiences are different than yours. I have surrounded myself with Muslims for 10 years, and have only met a couple (literally, 2) men who were not nice to their wives.
I argue that violence against women is more supported by cultural statuses of women than religious ones. As a Christian, you must know of the status of women within your own faith.
You speak of freedom and choice - I agree. Choice is too valuable, and I found Islam to be the better choice...
Finally, my religion does not allow men to indiscriminately beat me. I plan to not be lewd in my future husbands absence, and as such, I suspect I will be just fine.
MsTracie, why would you judge a religion based on very few people you know? You're a christian. I believe christianity is JUST as strong in opposition when it comes to pre-marital or extra-marital sex, drinks, vulgarity etc. But you find christians all over the US and Europe who get drunk and naked and sleep with almost anyone they can get their hands on.
Does that mean that christianity ALLOWS you to engage in immoral activities, such as porn? Think about it.
Or, simply put, you have a child. Your child goes out and gets into a quarrel with the neighbour's kid. That doesn't mean that YOU teach your child to fight. It is human nature to be wrong! You can't judge an entire clan based on such unreliable statistics.
Similarly, those Muslims that beat their wives are far away from God and Righteousness. Islam says, the best among you is he who is best to his wife. Just coz of a few bastard men you cannot judge ISLAM as a whole.
This is a cruel and inhuman barbaric practice. No one deserves cruel violence woman, man, child, animal, plants. I wonder what will these men say when the stand face to face with god on judgment day?
thank u for an enlightening series ma'am personaally im not muslim but i hold great reverance for islam but i hate the unfair stereyoetypes that come in america for islam, its unfair to blame a religion for a group of evil fanatics so god bless u and thx for speaking up for women and a peaceful religion
Masha'Allah ! i think your wonderful and your doing great things alhamdulilah! Jazakallah! this is coming from a muslim revert! May Allah swt grant you Jannah insha'Allah!

there is no justification for any man to hit any woman. white black blue or purple. the issue is its completely illegal in western countries. but islam allows it in the koran, and you say that every 90 sec a western woman gets raped well i wonder how often it happensd in islamic countries we will never know because muslim woman dont report it because they will be killed or accused of zina if they say something.
women face the issue off getting beaten in every society and islam does not allow it it's also illegal in this countries..those women whom gets raped in islamic soceities it happens by the ppl whom claim to be muslims by name only, they're criminals just like in any other society..it has nothing to do with the fact they're muslims or whatever..a criminal is criminal..weither muslim or christian ..etc
hahaha thanks for making me laugh.. I mean laugh at u :)
Women have got equal rights as men and don't forget that every country in the world now have got a human rights' office/organisation where any anti-human violence can be reported :)
killed or accused for zina? huh.. if such crime happens to a women, the man gets the punishement. This is so logical & reasonable everywhere. We don't live in a barbaric environment as your mind want to believe it. Our morality laws are better than ur country's
MY dear ignorant friend. IN islam WOmen have more rites then man. women has more respect then man. SO how can u misguide ur self? stop fallowing media. u have ur own brain sense, life and going to have family. educate them with ur knowelgde not with the media.
What "rights" do muslim women have more than men? And i dont listen to the media i have read the koran and the hadiths and i draw my own conclusions from thhem.
you own conclusions? This is a qur'an. Allah gave us more then enough details in it. But, still there are people who think they are smarted then god and they gonna make there own conclusions.
I would say stop misguiding ur self. just fallow wut the quran says. u dont have to lissten to anyone just read it ur self and fallow it as it says. belive me its nothing worng in it.
are you fking retarded , they can be beaten forced into anything no mulsim will care , do you think they put that thing on for fun , its because muslims treat them as inferior you idiot , this act of sexism disgusts me over the limit
how about the women who revert to islam in the west? There Christen family's dont beaten forced into them to wear that. that all i would say to ur ignorant ass
Hi LMartella, All men and even some women can be violent and abusive. Muslim men can use Islamic teachings as justification. Others use any reason or none. Just on your video. I have seen you as a wonderfully warm woman who has beauty in a many ways. I wish you all the best in your life and to your family. To cover up your face completely however as some women (are sometimes made) to do would be to deprive the world of much of your true self. Take care.
"Muslim men can use Islamic teachings as justification"
hi, just wanted to ask, how can they do this? ive studied and read the teachings of islam for about 10 years and i havent come across any teaching or justification of men being allowed to be "voilent and abusive" to women in any of the teachings of islam. please show me any verse or authentic hadith which supports your claim.
You say you "haven't come accross" any religious wording that justify violence and suppression of women in religious texts. Her's a job for you - Try getting that to all the muslim men that use what they think religious texts mean to openly abuse women and suppress them. At least non-religious men don't use religion as an excuse - they are simply abusive morons - just like the countless millions of muslim and other religious men all over the world. Good luck with that.
the western societies, in their own peculiar way, do use and abuse women as well. but there are institutions in place that guarantee equal rights and what have you. I think we ultimately have to rely on our collective human spirit as human species in deriving our morals. christianity, islam, and other religions are obsolete and should not be our final moral source. so in that sense I object to the term muslim woman or christian woman; a fellow sister or fellow human will do.
Also a question to the video maker, how do you explain Mhuammad marrying AIsha at 6 y.o and consumating at age 9 ? Is this not the source and justification for child abuse in Muslim societies ?
Whereas in non-Islamic countries and non-Muslims it is the individuals responsiblity and fault.
What about Muhammad allowing muta marriages ? It was for his army, this is justified rape of slaves, fornication and adultery !
Ancient japanese and roman societies engaged in child sex. Does this mean those countries are evil and pedophile? The romans and the old japanese societies are still seen as highly evolved and something graceful and are viewed with respect.
you dont see peolle running around calling every japanese a pedophile because of what their ancestors did.
where were the people screaming "Muhammad is a pedophile" 50 years ago?
now that a global islamophobia exists people are jumping on the bandwagon.
"Ancient japanese and roman societies engaged in child sex. Does this mean those countries are evil and pedophile?"
Yes, it does ! They were horribly evil !
There civilsations were examples in organisation, democracy and progress ! There behaviour was not looked up to by todays world ! But Muslims do look up to this man, as the highest moral authority !
This is dangerous to the extreme that anybody could think that this man is to be looked up to !
The problem is that Jesus didn't sin in his life, he didn't do anything wrong to anyone. He is called God's Word, literally meaning that God's word on paper is one thing, telling people what to do and not what to. But seeing it in action is beyond words. He was God's living word.
No prophet was an example to there people ! Only Jesus was because he didn't sin, a man does by his nature. When Muhammad heard these stories he thought that Jesus was just a prophet, thereby making all prophets...
examples to be emulated, which is very dangerous ! God would not put a sinful man as an example to be emulated !
Only God himself could be an example on how to act towards others. So there you have it, Muhammad had no clue about philsophy and how dangerous his example is towards others.
Also are you a pedophile ? How would you like it if an old man found your daughter attractive and married her and had sex with her ?!?!?!?! And then told others it's fine to do the same ?
lol first of all if some old man wanted to marry my daughter he wont be able without my approval.
2nd: as far as I remember the bible Jesus did a lot of sins like whiping out whole families.
3rd: i am not a pedophile - but I dont judge someone by my momentary belief since it happened more than a 1000 years ago. maybe in a 100 years people will call America and the democratic system to be the biggest failure of mankind.
and finaly: you're actually just trying show that your "belief" is better
"2nd: as far as I remember the bible Jesus did a lot of sins like whiping out whole families."
Are you talking about the Old Testament ? If you are then yes he did but only in judgment of the people. He is judge, jury and executioner. If you have a look at how he reasoned with people and talked to people, you realise that this wasn't always the case he had mercy on many peoples.
"....... someone by my momentary belief since it happened more than a 1000 years ago."
The simple quesiton is, is it wrong to marry a child ? Yes, it goes way further than the gray moral area. It is wrong !
Also it isn't momentary, Muslims believe that anything Muhammad did I can do, becasue Muhammad's example of character was the best in all history ! How delusional is that ? I mean Jesus, Bhudda, Confusious, Ghandi, most people living today would be a better examples.
Actually, the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) WAITED to marry Aisha until she was an age that was acceptable for the time. Aisha's father wanted the Prophet(pbuh) to marry Aisha at an earlier time, but he refused. So, you're half right - we DO look to our Prophet(pbuh) as an example to follow and because of that, we should also ensure that we marry only when the society deems a person eligible for marriage, which includes requirements for consent, and mental and emotional stability and maturity.
Muhammed Sallallahu alahi wa sallam, is the best example for muslims, let me ask you a question, where did you learn about A'isha? Where in the Hadith does it say that Muhammed consumated his marriage to A'isha? Where in the Qur'an does it permit muta marraiges, or in hadith, and finally what does the Qur'an say about fornication, and Adultery? Hopefully you read sources of Islam (Qur'an, hadith, and writings of scholars) to get answers, and not islamophobis sources.
"Hopefully you read sources of Islam (Qur'an, hadith, and writings of scholars) to get answers, and not islamophobis sources."
I read them from authentic Muslim approved sources, many Muslim friends told me some of the beliefs too. These were from educated extremely moderate Muslims, who go to Quran recitation lessons every week and study the Quran, etc...... very friendly people ; )
He did something I could never do in public very perverted, also the way they would talk about people behind their back was very inconsiderate......... this was when I practicing. I am an ex-Muslim.
I still remember Surah 114 Al-Nas off by heart. Don't get me wrong their is plenty good things in Islam. But the amount of evil that is taught, is enough to make you realise it's just not the truth.
1st time i see a woman so upset for being called adorable lol
no seriously; very intelligent video and great speaking skills.
on the issue of women abuse, coming from a Muslim culture (although agnostic in thinking) I do think women are abused in Middle Eastern male-dominated societies; women in the Arab world particularly are considered of lesser value. as for Islam, it certainly brought women into a much better status from pre-islam Arabia but it definitely wasn't complete equality with men
I was upset because you seemed to suggest the only reason I'm on youtube is to get compliments about my looks. It's irritating to me that because I'm a woman, I have to be subjected to comments about my outer appearance rather than what I have to say intellectually. That's all.
As for most of what you say, I agree. Unfortunately, a lot of Middle Eastern countries to not uphold even the teachings of Islam that brought women toward equality with men. They hold on to pre-Islamic tradition instead.
In so many Muslim majority nations, women are still sold into marriage, for instance (which was a pre-Islamic Arabian tradition) although women in Islam were granted the right to reject a husband, or choose their own husband. Families are still accepting dowries when they marry off their daughters, when Islam blatantly says that a womans husband should give HER a gift, not her parents. As for terminology, I call everyone my brothers and sisters in humanity.
Also, I accept all moral guidance that has logic behind it, so long as it doesn't contradict my Islam. I do not believe in ignoring sound logic, regardless of it's source.
I'm a huge supported of human rights, and womens rights. It's something I'm painfully passionate about.
Men and women are different, to expect everything a man does is as illogical as asking Einstein to wrestle with Muhammad Ali, both are masters in their respective fields..Western,so called, Liberals spread rumours and negative publicity on Islam, the reality is more women are hurt and beaten by them than in the pious Muslim houses, where both husband and wife know their respective limits.
There is no doubt that there are great moral men having diferent religions. I would however note that there are fewer Christians today that would resort to violence in the name of their religion. It is a shame that beautiful religions have been hijacked by war-mongering and hateful groups both polically and socially.
I think you'll find that the violence (rape, assault, etc. ) against women, particularly in the US, is the highest in the world, especially when considered that the US is viewed, and views itself, as the most advanced/progressive nation in world history....Do correct me if I'm wrong....
i guess my point was, bringing it back to the women's rights, certain elements of the qur'an are unclear enough in their meaning (for example: you may only give your wife "light beatings") to be misused by men would want to harm women. this doesn't mean all muslim men are monsters, of course, it just means being muslim may give men who would be abusive anyway a way to justify their wrongdoings. i've seen this in many wretched countries where islam has been twisted by poverty, war and evil.
furthermore, i think that we can agree the purpose of religion is to renounce sin of any kind and be closer to god's perfect goodness. if islam gives "clauses" or "shortcuts" to justify things like the killing of another human being, then it has ultimately failed its mission, no matter how justified the reasoning may seem. In my mind, Islam is too full of opportunities for exploitation in this way; too easy to bend towards evil.
reading what i just wrote, i don't want to make it sound like i think islam is evil, i really don't, it's well-intentioned as a whole. but i think when it comes to the treatment of women it needs to be carefully noted how certain aspects of it can be twisted by intelligent, ill-meaning people into evil shapes. Islam's direct link between church and state augments this problem because both can potentially protect the abuser: this particular problem wouldn't happen in the West, mercifully.
I agree with what you say about the world having problems with abuse toward women everywhere, and how it's not a problem just in Islam. However, the problem I have with Islam lies in the Qur'an itself. The very fact that there are articles describing when it is "acceptable" to kill, or "acceptable" to beat your wife, etc. is the kiss of death for a religion in my mind, for these are things that should be condemned no matter what the circumstance.
Yes, the World Health Organizations calls violence agains women an EPIDEMIC. Yet I am waiting in vain for muslims to march for women's rights. I am waiting for muslims to speak out against the abuse of women. Yes, other cultures are violent toward women. But what other culture restricts women's physical movement (via restrictive clothing) the way Muslims do? Amish is the only thing that comes to mind...
Exactly. Christianity is no better, really. It teaches the man is the head of the woman, and she is morally more corrupt the him. It teaches he should discipline her. She is to submit to him in all things, and if she has a problem with it, she should trust God who will magically protect her from his bad judgement.
The difference is under Islam, rape will not be truly reported and women rights are none. There are inhuman assualt to women Christian or Muslim world alike. Women's right must be the topic in this discussion.
Abuse against women are actually in all cultures, just in countries like Spain, or in Central America where thousands of women die for domestic violence every year, will make you see that this problem is anywhere, first world countries, third world countries, muslims or christians.
mashallah v.intersting channel , May allah bless u sister for your effort in ilustrating this issues ... Keep it going and slamo alikom :) 5 STAR *****
Stop wearing that stupid veil chick. We don't need to continue to have women cover up, what we must work on, is healing males mental illness. Women should walk around, in what ever they want without some retard attacking her. This is a problem with men, accept it, and really do something useful. Matriarchy will come
will continue to be a idiot, until you lock him up. That's the way it goes. Men have to be dominated, and their numbers must be reduced, more women in power, will help, both women, and men. I don't want men to go to extinct, but hey face it, they're the problem. You can rule women! Take charge, blessed be
Oh people, you're all in denial about males. Don't you get it, men have mental problems, duh duh duh. Look at how they treat the gender, whom gave them life, themselves, other races, other species, and our beautiful environment. It's all men, sure some women are idiots to, but the few idiot women will never even begin to compare to dumb bastards. Look not all men are idiots, obviously, but accept it already a decent majority of men are mentally ill. It does not matter where men come from, he
salam aleikum sister. I think we are totally on the same page. I hope you do make your videos soon. the same men who will go around saying muslim men oppress women will head into work and sexually harass their co workers. Men do whatever they think they can get away with in their society. Period. In Russia, a sexual harassment case was thrown out because then we'd "have no babies." We need men, OK, they're useful for some things, and I like them a lot, but they also are kind of predictable.

I think most muslium are brutes or pigs. When i ride a bus...every time a muslium is on it, they treat me like shit. One for no reason one came up and smacked me across my face! So i broke his arm and nocked the teeth out of his friend, who pulled a knife on me. They where both deported.
Most people view musliums are parasites in their country. They dont inter-mix or inter-marry. Terrorist seem to be musliums. i dont think any muslium has a right to be in my country of my people.
What makes it My country is For generations my people have built it from nothing, farmed and forced natural world into civilation. My people for gerations have fought, shed their blood and died for it. Paid countless moneys to the system you parasite off of. Your people benifit from our work like parasites, you come here and expect us to believe in your stone age believes while useing our Tech. You never fight for country! you Bomb it!! You are all Traitors and Terrorists and Women Beating Apes.
Just like Islam did to the blacks and enslaved them like it says to in the koran. Islam teaches to casterate black males because they are brute and kill the blacks childern off after they are born. My people never owned slaves that was the english, french, spanish. They bought them from you muslium for 200 years. Muslium enslaved blacks for over 1000 years. You killed blacks childern off after they were born like it says to in the holy books. we killed the english and freed the blacks.
most men who abuse women have some mental issues its not about religion or poverty or anything like that its a mental disorder as far as im concerned they may use relgion or poverty as an excuse for their behaviour but really its their responsability and you cant label it on to an outside sorce the men are trying to justify their behaviour which they know is unacceptable
That is what you 'think'. Qur'an is the solution to all the problems. The barbaric actions are done by Muslims not because the Qur'an teaches them BUT it is because they don't follow the Qur'an & the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).and Because of the injustice done to them everywhere and Muslims must defend themselves
Please when you give statistics and number give the source.
Are you blind what is happening in Islamic countries and wat barbaric act is being pracice in Afganistan , Pakistan Somalia Iran against women by islam. you should go live in one of this countries and then come and make a videp program and falsify the truth about islam , Quran.
I live in one of the countries you mentioned and I strongly believe that the percentage of violence against women is more than the Western countries.
You just mentioned:' Are you blind what is happening in Islamic countries and wat barbaric act is being pracice in Afganistan , Pakistan Somalia Iran against women by islam.'
' by Islam ' is the word that I wish to reply. In Pakistan, most of the crimes are committed by people who are not that much attached to religion.
For example, the political party talking most boldly regarding women empowerment is PPP (Benazir's party). Its a religion free party and recently their Member Parliament Assembly was arressted for a serious crime against a girl.
Also the famous Mukhtara Mai (lady raped by 100 men) was closed during the reign of the Great Liberal American Bull Dog Busharraf (Musharraf. No punishment was given to the rapists and it is reported that the criminal tribe was supporting the Musharraf Rule.
An acid attack was done on the face of Fakhira Batol, the wife of the relative of the well known PPP MPA of the Southern Punjab. The criminals were never arrested.
So, these crimes are not done ' by Islam ' but is the general mentality of people that consider women as property, and thats irrespective of religion.
If you're thinking about Taliban, I've encountered some of those crazy maniacs and they are the real extremists misinterpreting Islam. Yeah, they are US creation also ...
Please it is not musharaf law is practicing in Pakistan , these law brought by Gen. Ziaulhagh which were shariah law. how a women can find four witness while being raped. this is sharia law and so many othere barbaric laws shich are in shariah.
That is what you 'think'. Qur'an is the solution to all the problems. The barbaric actions are done by Muslims not because the Qur'an teaches them BUT it is because they don't follow the Qur'an & the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).
The way you say, I think Muhammad and Islam also is creation of US.
I dont understand why u ppl do not want to accept the main problem is Quran not muslem ppl. The barbaric action by muslem is because Quran teaches. the musle people they behave what they are tautht by that book.
Muslem people are inocent but the main culprits are those which propogates the teaching of Quran and try to pring the shariah law.
As for the law of General Zia Ul Haq, you're again quoting out of context. According to Islamic law, when there is clear evidence (forensic sciences)that the woman is raped, the criminal has to receive the punishment. If there is no clear evidence and the witness is 1, the man is still punished in terms of sentence.
As for the mystery of 4 witnesses, this also has hidden significance. In many cases, there is a false accusation on the guy by the woman & this is in the history of my country.
My father's university fellow went to jail after a girl accused him of 'laying his hand on her'. She herself tore off her shirt sleeve and raised a false accusation. The guy was unable to clearify himself !
The main culprits are those chauvinists that exist everywhere in the world, in the Muslim countries or the West ( where we find US to be the gold medalist in domestic violences ). Islam teaches men to respect women and to keep our gaze low and not to stare at them.
I found your page through a similarity in our names and I am glad that I did as I am enjoying your videos. Might I suggest that you post a video explaining the difference between something created by a theocracy, eg. Sharia Law, and Islamic Law. I think that many North American Christians fail to realize that they are NOT the same thing and this confusion leads to much ignorance and fear.
Well, I don't recall ever hearing the Profit Muhammad say that a woman cannot operate a motor vehicle but that is clearly stated in the Laws of Saudi Arabia, a country that claims to follow Sharia Law as based on the Qu'ran's Islamic Laws.
Also, God's love and mercy between a husband and wife is so infinite, because God is infinite, that IF husbands and wives reflect this one to another, it should be more than enough to satisfy one man to one woman, no matter what the difficulty, no matter what the problems.
That's my personal experience and view. When you fall in love with someone and experience the love of God through that gift of matrimony, the intimacy is so sacred and holy, you can only give yourself to one person.
Thank you for your explination, but in my heart it sounds incomplete.
The whole relationship of someone's existence in relation to God and people should be love.
If God's love and Mercy are between a husband and wife, then the husband and wife should reflect that love and mercy to each other. The Qur'an doesn't specifically give teachings to husbands to love and have mercy on their wives. If it did please tell me where..
"And among His Signs is this: that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect." (Quran 30:021)
And I think you should start reeducating the highest religious authorities in Islam.
How many of them speak about how women are deficient in intelligence, how beatings are indispensable and how unveiled women invite rape. That is a lot of reeducating you have to do. Good luck because all feminist in arab countries who want to do reeducation are called heretics.
There is no such thing as "highest religious authorities" in Islam.
The issue is that in many Muslims majority countries education of any kind isn't available, let alone religious education.
Many people are illiterate, and trust the wrong people for their religious guidance.
I was reading an article last week about children being sent off to "religious" school, in Sudan, and parents happily hand them over, because that's their only chance for education... then they get sent out as beggars.
You speak of Islam as if it were a single, unified religion. Shiia Islam does have a hierachical structure that places Iranian ayatollas at the top. Countries that are theorcracies have "highest religious authorities" that also exercise political power.
Back on topic: Why does the "problem exist everywhere?" I agree that it does, but why? Could it be old patriarchical structures that give too much power to men? Men and woman should be equal and no man or woman should ever be abused.
I am sure that there are many kind intelligent civilized muslim men. The point is this still being practiced and allowed by religion, and even more religious authorities in some arab countries teach young men how to beat their wifes on televion!!. That is the point. I am sure men are also violent in the west and beat their wifes, but we dont have anyone showing up on tv, telling them how to do it. And we dont call it halal!! We dont say God would permit such a thing.
2.282 "O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing. Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write, as Allah Has taught him, so let him write.
"Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If they party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable himself to dictate, let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her."
With the full verse, it still doesn't make sense to me. Every person has the same integrity, that's what I believe...and this just doesn't make any kind of sense.
I know for a fact what culture is in Muslim countries because I'm middle-eastern, and my family has been from the middle-east for many years. It is a well proven and accepted fact that in many of those countries is is SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE that women are below men, and this quote even in it's full form supports that idea.
There are plenty of places in the Qu'ran and in hadtith that blatantly state that men and women are equal before the eyes of God. If someone chooses to take something out of context, while ignoring other verses, they are not doing right bu their scripture.
And regarding your comment on the West sure there is oppression of women and exploitation aswell. But our religious authorities dont say horrendous things like women are deficient in intelligence. Furthermore the pope apoligized for 100 of years of oppression of women by the catholic church.Women are inferior then men in all 3 monotheistic religions,so please dont tell us that is nothing to do with the religion. A religion influences a culture and a culture influences a religion.
I've heard plenty of religious leaders say that a woman's place is in the home, and she should be obedient to her husband, because he is the head of the household, and she should not question him and etc. They were not representing Islam.
In Islam, a woman is of equal value in the eyes of God. We are different, but of same worth.
As for the pope, I applaud him.
However, how recent was this?
You want war-torn countries with deficient economies to be on par with first the first world? C'mon.
"Men are superior to women on account of the qualities with which [Allah] hath gifted the one above the other" (Quran, Chapter 4:34)
Someone share with me if the Quran says to Husands that they should LOVE and Cherish their wives? I'm not talking about if Muslim men do it or don't do it, I want to see what the Islamic Holy Book says in text.
What is the ultimate purpose of a Muslim marriage? I've heard one answer that it may be used to help widows who are left alone.
Men and women are equal in worth, yet different. And men, in Islam, are considered a "degree" above women in matters of material wealth and accomodation for women, because it is the mans duty to support the woman, while the womans wealth is her own. Again, this is all so very simple to understand, if you had read the Qu'ran, rather than going to some anti-Islam website for your chopped up verses/arguments.
Hadith: "Among the Muslims, the most perfect as regards his faith is the one whose character is most excellent, and the best among you are those who treat their wives well." (Narrated by Tirmidhi)
4.019 "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; On the contrary: live with them on a footing of kindness and equity"
"And among His Signs is this: that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect." (Quran 30:021)
"When a man marries, he indeed perfects half of his religion. Then he should fear Allah for the remaining half." (Bukhari)
"They (wives) are like garments for you, and you are like garments for them" (Quran 2:187).
Two male witnesses are required in a specific circumstance, not ALL circumstances. This verse, if you read it in it's entirety, is CLEARLY talking about debtor transactions, and contacts.
The verse SPECIFICALLY states that the best way to avoid having debtor issues is to WRITE a contract, or have one written for you!
For a contract to be credible, witnesses should be present.
If this verse is saying anything, it's that a woman has a place in the business world, and should not be excluded.
Please make your comparative study of TEACHINGS OF CHRISTIANITY VS TEACHINGS OF ISLAM otherwise the comparative study does not justify someones conversion from Christianity to Islam.
If you are going to do a comparative study do it right:
Please make your comparative study of TEACHINGS OF CHRISTIANITY VS TEACHINGS OF ISLAM, otherwise your study will not make sense...you can't compare/contrast the "West" to "Islam"..Just like you can't compare/contrast Christianity to the East.
Don't forget that the west is full of muslims, and the East has some of the oldest Christians in existance, many of whom are Arabic and have been speaking Arabic long before muslims were even around.
Maraljan, as I see it, it would be difficult to compare monotheistic religions (judaism, christianity and Islam) because they are all stages of the same "evolutionary" process of ideas.
Also, "the West" (at least in Europe) coexisted with the Arabs and we are part of the same historical processes.
Spain, for instance, was ruled by the muslims for over 800 years. So was Southern Italy, part of Greece, part of the Balkans, etc.
I am not going to compare Christianity to Islam. I'm not scholarly enough to undertake that, and I have no interest in pointing fingers at Christians, or any other religious minority or majority.
The truth of the matter is, if I consider doing what you've suggested, I will still make no point. Because to suggest that the Christians who are abusive to their wives are this way because of their religion is incorrect - just as it is incorrect to blame Islam for when a Muslim is abusive to his wife.
ButtPoopWiggle 1 year ago
@ButtPoopWiggle And the women in bikinis? Who are objectified and sexualized? Used to sell goods? Do they offend you?
Or is it okay for society to dictate a womans standards, but not religion? What makes one better than the other?
Before I was Muslim, I dressed very modestly and conservatively. Was I still lowly and pitiful? Or is it just the hijab that enrages you so much?
Hijab has been used by the West to prove "oppression" of women for decades. It means something entirely different to us.
LMartella 1 year ago
@ButtPoopWiggle P.S. no one says hair is "disrespectful". Hair is beautiful. It's a part of feminine beauty. If it wasn't why to women spent hundreds of dollars on haircuts colors, trims, and styling?
Also, for the sake of discussion, I do not wear hijab full time in real life because my family refuses to accept it, and I live with them. But I can speak from experience on both sides of the matter. I personally always feel more dignified and confident in hijab. So why should your opinion matter?
LMartella 1 year ago
All religion is BS but islam might be the worst. There isn't enough room to go into detail. Christopher Hitchens says it best. I still can't understand the head-covering. Why could I show my hair if I were muslim, but not you? It's offensive to me. I wish muslim women in particular would shed the mind-manacle, and have more respect for themselves.
ButtPoopWiggle 1 year ago
@ButtPoopWiggle I could easily show my hair if I wanted to. I choose not to.
It boggles my mind that people feel 'offended' by someone elses choice to cover. Are you equally offended at women who choose to walk around in bikinis? How about nuns? Do they offend you?
More importantly, how does covering ones body equate to lack of self respect? I see no logic in this.
At the end of the day, I don't tell you what to wear. Afford me the same courtesy and stop telling me what I should wear. The end.

It would be very interesting if someone could compile some statistics on sheer spousal abuse (Not just a lack of rights, but abuse itself) and how much it happens in predominantly Muslim countries as opposed to, say, predominantly Christian countries or secual countries.
loserella55 1 year ago
It just kills me that the actions of an individual Muslim will be used to demonised all Muslims but the actions of an individual non-Muslim get seen as just that. But when I point out that hypocrisy to people, I'm apparently a "Muslim apologist" who is "justifying terrorism".
amhemsley 1 year ago
@amhemsley Yes, that bothers me a lot too. I've been told that simply because I'm a Muslim, that means by default I support spousal abuse and terrorism... not to mention other horrible cultural practices. The whole "painting all with one brush" thing seems rather common these days. Historically, too... and if history is any representation of the future, I'm quite fearful.
Thank you for the comment, and for sticking up for logic and consistency. Peace :)

Peace.

I agree with what you say, but just for the sake of it I must say... it seems "some" try to use their religion (no matter how wrong they are) as justification for violence agaisnt women, where others in the world do not.

MsTracie 2 years ago
It's interesting for me to recognize that a lot of people have a skewed perspective of Islam because they knew a cruel Muslim in their history... I suppose we are a sum of our experiences, and that molds our perspectives.
Personally, I was raped and beaten by a non-religious Christian... and the two people who helped me not to go into a downward spiral of self loathing and possible suicide were Muslims.
Pt. 2 coming...
LMartella 2 years ago
You may have a choice here but in other Islamic and traditionally patriarchial countries women don't have the choice. Their husbands are chosen for them and when they are married and many are under the age of 14! Also, I grew up with American muslim aunts and they ALL left their husbands after years of abuse. My uncle whenever he would enter a room she'd have to stand and he'd always take her seat and she'd sit on the floor. That's not nice to do to the woman that birthed and rased your child
MsTracie 2 years ago
Muslim women are given the right to choose their own husbands. Any other way is against our religion. You are mixing culture with religion, which many non-Muslims do, as well as Muslims themselves.
Marriage in Islam requires mutual agreement (Ijab o Qubul) by the groom AND the bride.
I'm uninterested in hearing what some misguided Muslims do, and then labeling it Islam. That's unfair, and it's not reality.
Some people are scum. I've met scum from all religions.
That's reality.

What happened that made you change your mind so much about Islam vs. Culture?
I see you saying, in that video, exactly what I'm saying, with different words.
Now you've shifted focus... makes me wonder what happened?
I pray you're okay.
LMartella 2 years ago

I still get to choose who I marry, you know.
LMartella 2 years ago
MsTracie, why would you judge a religion based on very few people you know? You're a christian. I believe christianity is JUST as strong in opposition when it comes to pre-marital or extra-marital sex, drinks, vulgarity etc. But you find christians all over the US and Europe who get drunk and naked and sleep with almost anyone they can get their hands on.
Does that mean that christianity ALLOWS you to engage in immoral activities, such as porn? Think about it.
drdan2611 2 years ago
Or, simply put, you have a child. Your child goes out and gets into a quarrel with the neighbour's kid. That doesn't mean that YOU teach your child to fight. It is human nature to be wrong! You can't judge an entire clan based on such unreliable statistics.
Similarly, those Muslims that beat their wives are far away from God and Righteousness. Islam says, the best among you is he who is best to his wife. Just coz of a few bastard men you cannot judge ISLAM as a whole.
Please, give it a thought.

Take care.

hi, just wanted to ask, how can they do this? ive studied and read the teachings of islam for about 10 years and i havent come across any teaching or justification of men being allowed to be "voilent and abusive" to women in any of the teachings of islam. please show me any verse or authentic hadith which supports your claim.
thank you.

I think we ultimately have to rely on our collective human spirit as human species in deriving our morals. christianity, islam, and other religions are obsolete and should not be our final moral source. so in that sense I object to the term muslim woman or christian woman; a fellow sister or fellow human will do.
peachybeach 2 years ago
Absolutely correct.
What kind of a role model is he ?

This is dangerous to the extreme that anybody could think that this man is to be looked up to !
guppy0720 2 years ago 2
The problem is that Jesus didn't sin in his life, he didn't do anything wrong to anyone. He is called God's Word, literally meaning that God's word on paper is one thing, telling people what to do and not what to. But seeing it in action is beyond words. He was God's living word.
No prophet was an example to there people ! Only Jesus was because he didn't sin, a man does by his nature. When Muhammad heard these stories he thought that Jesus was just a prophet, thereby making all prophets...
guppy0720 2 years ago
examples to be emulated, which is very dangerous !
And then told others it's fine to do the same ?
guppy0720 2 years ago
lol first of all if some old man wanted to marry my daughter he wont be able without my approval.
YamazakiSuperDM 2 years ago
"2nd: as far as I remember the bible Jesus did a lot of sins like whiping out whole families."
Are you talking about the Old Testament ? If you are then yes he did but only in judgment of the people. He is judge, jury and executioner. If you have a look at how he reasoned with people and talked to people, you realise that this wasn't always the case he had mercy on many peoples.
guppy0720 2 years ago
"....... someone by my momentary belief since it happened more than a 1000 years ago."
I mean Jesus, Bhudda, Confusious, Ghandi, most people living today would be a better examples.
guppy0720 2 years ago
Actually, the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) WAITED to marry Aisha until she was an age that was acceptable for the time. Aisha's father wanted the Prophet(pbuh) to marry Aisha at an earlier time, but he refused. So, you're half right - we DO look to our Prophet(pbuh) as an example to follow and because of that, we should also ensure that we marry only when the society deems a person eligible for marriage, which includes requirements for consent, and mental and emotional stability and maturity.
LMartella 2 years ago
Muhammed Sallallahu alahi wa sallam, is the best example for muslims, let me ask you a question, where did you learn about A'isha? Where in the Hadith does it say that Muhammed consumated his marriage to A'isha? Where in the Qur'an does it permit muta marraiges, or in hadith, and finally what does the Qur'an say about fornication, and Adultery? Hopefully you read sources of Islam (Qur'an, hadith, and writings of scholars) to get answers, and not islamophobis sources.

I read them from authentic Muslim approved sources, many Muslim friends told me some of the beliefs too. These were from educated extremely moderate Muslims, who go to Quran recitation lessons every week and study the Quran, etc...... very friendly people ; )

"very friendly people ; )"
But he was not the most ethical of people.

Pretty sure I posted this video because I was interested in discussing domestic violence, and violence against women in general.
If you have hearing problems, and cannot listen to what I'm saying, I dare say that isn't my problem.
LMartella 2 years ago
1st time i see a woman so upset for being called adorable lol
no seriously; very intelligent video and great speaking skills.
on the issue of women abuse, coming from a Muslim culture (although agnostic in thinking) I do think women are abused in Middle Eastern male-dominated societies; women in the Arab world particularly are considered of lesser value. as for Islam, it certainly brought women into a much better status from pre-islam Arabia but it definitely wasn't complete equality with men
peachybeach 2 years ago
I was upset because you seemed to suggest the only reason I'm on youtube is to get compliments about my looks. It's irritating to me that because I'm a woman, I have to be subjected to comments about my outer appearance rather than what I have to say intellectually. That's all.
As for most of what you say, I agree. Unfortunately, a lot of Middle Eastern countries to not uphold even the teachings of Islam that brought women toward equality with men. They hold on to pre-Islamic tradition instead.
LMartella 2 years ago
In so many Muslim majority nations, women are still sold into marriage, for instance (which was a pre-Islamic Arabian tradition) although women in Islam were granted the right to reject a husband, or choose their own husband. Families are still accepting dowries when they marry off their daughters, when Islam blatantly says that a womans husband should give HER a gift, not her parents. As for terminology, I call everyone my brothers and sisters in humanity.
LMartella 2 years ago
I don't think that has something to do with you being a woman.
Regarding your video, I support you.

Also, I accept all moral guidance that has logic behind it, so long as it doesn't contradict my Islam. I do not believe in ignoring sound logic, regardless of it's source.
I'm a huge supported of human rights, and womens rights. It's something I'm painfully passionate about.
Peace.

Men and women are different, to expect everything a man does is as illogical as asking Einstein to wrestle with Muhammad Ali, both are masters in their respective fields..Western,so called, Liberals spread rumours and negative publicity on Islam, the reality is more women are hurt and beaten by them than in the pious Muslim houses, where both husband and wife know their respective limits.
esharah1 2 years ago
There is no doubt that there are great moral men having diferent religions. I would however note that there are fewer Christians today that would resort to violence in the name of their religion. It is a shame that beautiful religions have been hijacked by war-mongering and hateful groups both polically and socially.
May God be with us all!

I think you'll find that the violence (rape, assault, etc. ) against women, particularly in the US, is the highest in the world, especially when considered that the US is viewed, and views itself, as the most advanced/progressive nation in world history....Do correct me if I'm wrong....

i guess my point was, bringing it back to the women's rights, certain elements of the qur'an are unclear enough in their meaning (for example: you may only give your wife "light beatings") to be misused by men would want to harm women. this doesn't mean all muslim men are monsters, of course, it just means being muslim may give men who would be abusive anyway a way to justify their wrongdoings. i've seen this in many wretched countries where islam has been twisted by poverty, war and evil.
zachpiano 2 years ago
furthermore, i think that we can agree the purpose of religion is to renounce sin of any kind and be closer to god's perfect goodness. if islam gives "clauses" or "shortcuts" to justify things like the killing of another human being, then it has ultimately failed its mission, no matter how justified the reasoning may seem. In my mind, Islam is too full of opportunities for exploitation in this way; too easy to bend towards evil.
zachpiano 2 years ago
reading what i just wrote, i don't want to make it sound like i think islam is evil, i really don't, it's well-intentioned as a whole. but i think when it comes to the treatment of women it needs to be carefully noted how certain aspects of it can be twisted by intelligent, ill-meaning people into evil shapes. Islam's direct link between church and state augments this problem because both can potentially protect the abuser: this particular problem wouldn't happen in the West, mercifully.
zachpiano 2 years ago
I agree with what you say about the world having problems with abuse toward women everywhere, and how it's not a problem just in Islam. However, the problem I have with Islam lies in the Qur'an itself. The very fact that there are articles describing when it is "acceptable" to kill, or "acceptable" to beat your wife, etc. is the kiss of death for a religion in my mind, for these are things that should be condemned no matter what the circumstance.
zachpiano 2 years ago
Yes, the World Health Organizations calls violence agains women an EPIDEMIC. Yet I am waiting in vain for muslims to march for women's rights. I am waiting for muslims to speak out against the abuse of women. Yes, other cultures are violent toward women. But what other culture restricts women's physical movement (via restrictive clothing) the way Muslims do? Amish is the only thing that comes to mind...

All of the Patriarchal religions have demonised women for thousands of years.
That is their way of keeping control.
The Governments are patriarchal too, so no one in power is interested in freeing women and children.
LadyJustice666 2 years ago 2
Exactly. Christianity is no better, really. It teaches the man is the head of the woman, and she is morally more corrupt the him. It teaches he should discipline her. She is to submit to him in all things, and if she has a problem with it, she should trust God who will magically protect her from his bad judgement.

Abuse against women are actually in all cultures, just in countries like Spain, or in Central America where thousands of women die for domestic violence every year, will make you see that this problem is anywhere, first world countries, third world countries, muslims or christians.

Look not all men are idiots, obviously, but accept it already a decent majority of men are mentally ill. It does not matter where men come from, he

Most people view musliums are parasites in their country. They dont inter-mix or inter-marry. Terrorist seem to be musliums. i dont think any muslium has a right to be in my country of my people.

123KAMBIZ 3 years ago
I live in one of the countries you mentioned and I strongly believe that the percentage of violence against women is more than the Western countries.
You just mentioned:' Are you blind what is happening in Islamic countries and wat barbaric act is being pracice in Afganistan , Pakistan Somalia Iran against women by islam.'
' by Islam ' is the word that I wish to reply. In Pakistan, most of the crimes are committed by people who are not that much attached to religion.
AhmedHMirza 3 years ago
For example, the political party talking most boldly regarding women empowerment is PPP (Benazir's party). Its a religion free party and recently their Member Parliament Assembly was arressted for a serious crime against a girl.
Also the famous Mukhtara Mai (lady raped by 100 men) was closed during the reign of the Great Liberal American Bull Dog Busharraf (Musharraf. No punishment was given to the rapists and it is reported that the criminal tribe was supporting the Musharraf Rule.
AhmedHMirza 3 years ago
An acid attack was done on the face of Fakhira Batol, the wife of the relative of the well known PPP MPA of the Southern Punjab. The criminals were never arrested.
So, these crimes are not done ' by Islam ' but is the general mentality of people that consider women as property, and thats irrespective of religion.
If you're thinking about Taliban, I've encountered some of those crazy maniacs and they are the real extremists misinterpreting Islam. Yeah, they are US creation also ...
AhmedHMirza 3 years ago
Please it is not musharaf law is practicing in Pakistan , these law brought by Gen. Ziaulhagh which were shariah law. how a women can find four witness while being raped. this is sharia law and so many othere barbaric laws shich are in shariah.

AhmedHMirza 3 years ago
The way you say, I think Muhammad and Islam also is creation of US.
I dont understand why u ppl do not want to accept the main problem is Quran not muslem ppl. The barbaric action by muslem is because Quran teaches. the musle people they behave what they are tautht by that book.
Muslem people are inocent but the main culprits are those which propogates the teaching of Quran and try to pring the shariah law.
123KAMBIZ 3 years ago
As for the law of General Zia Ul Haq, you're again quoting out of context. According to Islamic law, when there is clear evidence (forensic sciences)that the woman is raped, the criminal has to receive the punishment. If there is no clear evidence and the witness is 1, the man is still punished in terms of sentence.
As for the mystery of 4 witnesses, this also has hidden significance. In many cases, there is a false accusation on the guy by the woman & this is in the history of my country.
AhmedHMirza 3 years ago
My father's university fellow went to jail after a girl accused him of 'laying his hand on her'. She herself tore off her shirt sleeve and raised a false accusation. The guy was unable to clearify himself !
The main culprits are those chauvinists that exist everywhere in the world, in the Muslim countries or the West ( where we find US to be the gold medalist in domestic violences ). Islam teaches men to respect women and to keep our gaze low and not to stare at them.

Also, God's love and mercy between a husband and wife is so infinite, because God is infinite, that IF husbands and wives reflect this one to another, it should be more than enough to satisfy one man to one woman, no matter what the difficulty, no matter what the problems.
That's my personal experience and view. When you fall in love with someone and experience the love of God through that gift of matrimony, the intimacy is so sacred and holy, you can only give yourself to one person.
maraljan 3 years ago
Thank you for your explination, but in my heart it sounds incomplete.
The whole relationship of someone's existence in relation to God and people should be love.
If God's love and Mercy are between a husband and wife, then the husband and wife should reflect that love and mercy to each other. The Qur'an doesn't specifically give teachings to husbands to love and have mercy on their wives. If it did please tell me where..
maraljan 3 years ago
I was pretty sure that was covered here:
"And among His Signs is this: that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect." (Quran 30:021)
LMartella 3 years ago
Well you speak of the reeducation of muslims.
And I think you should start reeducating the highest religious authorities in Islam.
How many of them speak about how women are deficient in intelligence, how beatings are indispensable and how unveiled women invite rape. That is a lot of reeducating you have to do. Good luck because all feminist in arab countries who want to do reeducation are called heretics.
carosinsoles 3 years ago
There is no such thing as "highest religious authorities" in Islam.
The issue is that in many Muslims majority countries education of any kind isn't available, let alone religious education.
Many people are illiterate, and trust the wrong people for their religious guidance.
I was reading an article last week about children being sent off to "religious" school, in Sudan, and parents happily hand them over, because that's their only chance for education... then they get sent out as beggars.
LMartella 3 years ago
You speak of Islam as if it were a single, unified religion. Shiia Islam does have a hierachical structure that places Iranian ayatollas at the top. Countries that are theorcracies have "highest religious authorities" that also exercise political power.
Back on topic: Why does the "problem exist everywhere?" I agree that it does, but why? Could it be old patriarchical structures that give too much power to men? Men and woman should be equal and no man or woman should ever be abused.
muerteverde 3 years ago
I am sure that there are many kind intelligent civilized muslim men. The point is this still being practiced and allowed by religion, and even more religious authorities in some arab countries teach young men how to beat their wifes on televion!!. That is the point. I am sure men are also violent in the west and beat their wifes, but we dont have anyone showing up on tv, telling them how to do it. And we dont call it halal!! We dont say God would permit such a thing.
carosinsoles 3 years ago
You aren't even quoting the entire verse, which is problematic, and cuts into your credibility and sincerity.
LMartella 3 years ago
What does this mean?:
"Call in two male witnesses from among you, but if two men cannot be found, then one man and two women whom you judge fit to act as witnesses."
Qur'an 2:282
maraljan 3 years ago
pt 1: Yusuf Ali translation of Qu'ran:
2.282 "O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing. Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write, as Allah Has taught him, so let him write.
LMartella 3 years ago
pt 2, cont' of 2:282:
"Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If they party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable himself to dictate, let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her."
LMartella 3 years ago
With the full verse, it still doesn't make sense to me. Every person has the same integrity, that's what I believe...and this just doesn't make any kind of sense.
I know for a fact what culture is in Muslim countries because I'm middle-eastern, and my family has been from the middle-east for many years. It is a well proven and accepted fact that in many of those countries is is SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE that women are below men, and this quote even in it's full form supports that idea.
maraljan 3 years ago
There are plenty of places in the Qu'ran and in hadtith that blatantly state that men and women are equal before the eyes of God. If someone chooses to take something out of context, while ignoring other verses, they are not doing right bu their scripture.
Common sense.
LMartella 3 years ago
And regarding your comment on the West sure there is oppression of women and exploitation aswell. But our religious authorities dont say horrendous things like women are deficient in intelligence. Furthermore the pope apoligized for 100 of years of oppression of women by the catholic church.Women are inferior then men in all 3 monotheistic religions,so please dont tell us that is nothing to do with the religion. A religion influences a culture and a culture influences a religion.
carosinsoles 3 years ago
I've heard plenty of religious leaders say that a woman's place is in the home, and she should be obedient to her husband, because he is the head of the household, and she should not question him and etc. They were not representing Islam.
In Islam, a woman is of equal value in the eyes of God. We are different, but of same worth.
As for the pope, I applaud him.
However, how recent was this?
You want war-torn countries with deficient economies to be on par with first the first world? C'mon.
LMartella 3 years ago
What about this?
"Men are superior to women on account of the qualities with which [Allah] hath gifted the one above the other" (Quran, Chapter 4:34)
Someone share with me if the Quran says to Husands that they should LOVE and Cherish their wives? I'm not talking about if Muslim men do it or don't do it, I want to see what the Islamic Holy Book says in text.
What is the ultimate purpose of a Muslim marriage? I've heard one answer that it may be used to help widows who are left alone.
maraljan 3 years ago
Men and women are equal in worth, yet different. And men, in Islam, are considered a "degree" above women in matters of material wealth and accomodation for women, because it is the mans duty to support the woman, while the womans wealth is her own. Again, this is all so very simple to understand, if you had read the Qu'ran, rather than going to some anti-Islam website for your chopped up verses/arguments.
LMartella 3 years ago
Hadith: "Among the Muslims, the most perfect as regards his faith is the one whose character is most excellent, and the best among you are those who treat their wives well." (Narrated by Tirmidhi)
4.019 "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; On the contrary: live with them on a footing of kindness and equity"
LMartella 3 years ago
"And among His Signs is this: that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect." (Quran 30:021)
"When a man marries, he indeed perfects half of his religion. Then he should fear Allah for the remaining half." (Bukhari)
"They (wives) are like garments for you, and you are like garments for them" (Quran 2:187).
LMartella 3 years ago
"It is He who created you from a single person, and made his mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her (in love)."(Qur'an 7:189)
I could keep going here, but I am certain I answered your question.
Marriage in Islam is half of ones religious obligations, as narrated in multiple hadith, supported by Qu'ranic commands to marry.
It's purpose is to create a union between man and woman, to ease difficulties, create a pious family, and keep each other on the path of God.
LMartella 3 years ago
Two male witnesses are required in a specific circumstance, not ALL circumstances. This verse, if you read it in it's entirety, is CLEARLY talking about debtor transactions, and contacts.
The verse SPECIFICALLY states that the best way to avoid having debtor issues is to WRITE a contract, or have one written for you!
For a contract to be credible, witnesses should be present.
If this verse is saying anything, it's that a woman has a place in the business world, and should not be excluded.

Please make your comparative study of TEACHINGS OF CHRISTIANITY VS TEACHINGS OF ISLAM otherwise the comparative study does not justify someones conversion from Christianity to Islam.
maraljan 3 years ago
I have no desire to convert anyone to Islam.
That is not the purpose of my video(s).
LMartella 3 years ago
If you are going to do a comparative study do it right:
Please make your comparative study of TEACHINGS OF CHRISTIANITY VS TEACHINGS OF ISLAM, otherwise your study will not make sense...you can't compare/contrast the "West" to "Islam"..Just like you can't compare/contrast Christianity to the East.
Don't forget that the west is full of muslims, and the East has some of the oldest Christians in existance, many of whom are Arabic and have been speaking Arabic long before muslims were even around.
maraljan 3 years ago
Maraljan, as I see it, it would be difficult to compare monotheistic religions (judaism, christianity and Islam) because they are all stages of the same "evolutionary" process of ideas.
Also, "the West" (at least in Europe) coexisted with the Arabs and we are part of the same historical processes.
Spain, for instance, was ruled by the muslims for over 800 years. So was Southern Italy, part of Greece, part of the Balkans, etc.
The result was a cultural fusion.
Hasta la vista!
canariojoe 3 years ago
I am not going to compare Christianity to Islam. I'm not scholarly enough to undertake that, and I have no interest in pointing fingers at Christians, or any other religious minority or majority.
The truth of the matter is, if I consider doing what you've suggested, I will still make no point. Because to suggest that the Christians who are abusive to their wives are this way because of their religion is incorrect - just as it is incorrect to blame Islam for when a Muslim is abusive to his wife.
