GS is only a quick evalution of your gear. Good raid leaders also check out your experience (Elitist Group and new GS can check what raids you did. And its also linker to your alts :) )

honestly people who say "gear score is shit skill is better then gear" let me tell you something what skill? what kind of skill does pve take in wrath!? every raid in there is a joke except yogg, putricide and LK hardmode i mean really all the bosses tell you what there about to do, also with BDM telling you all the CDs on boss abilities please wrath pve is stupid i hope blizz makes this game better for cata and also people who complain about gs have no gs to get into any raids.

GS is shit =P u could have 6.5k gs and do 2k dps or not heal good or just fail tank gs is only potential i saw som1 with 3.7k gs out dps and 5.2k gs (2 mages)

Gearscore only exists to make pugs easier and gives you an idea on their potential dps or heals or what have you. That all it for. No one gives a shit about it in guild runs. It is ONLY for the purpose of pugging people when short people for a raid. It ONLY shows POTENTIAL dps and heals and that's all it CAN do. Skill has some effect but the dude with a 6k gs can almost not try and do better then someone with a 5k gs. Simply from the armor. Gearscore is THE most abused thing on earth.

No, gearscore counts in pugs and the first time anyone brings anyone to a raid like it should. I'm not a dumbass despite what you think. No one lets anyone below 5k gs into ICC 10 or 25. Later on though no one cares whose gs is higher. first few times you raid with a group gs matters a lot.

Gearscore is fuckin awesome thing... only noobs with their low gearscore who used to get into pugs hate it because now they cant. Besides you can also check if they got an achievement if you worry about someone knowing the tacticks ... you can check if a guy has the gear required, if he has achievement ...you can check everything ...Gearscore is nothing less then awesome.

there is a Dk on my server who barly does 4k dps. he has a 5900 GS.

in my pve gear, wich is barly 5k because i got the t9 but i dont rly raid i can pull 7200 on the same boss fights he fails miserably at...

GS tells you they have gear -> but no tool can tell u if they know how to play or if they were carried.

gearscore is a tool. nothing more, and its not useless..but it isnt the end all be all either.stupid ppl still exist

But i do not denny the fact that idiots with high gear score exist. What i do when i lead a pug is inv people with high GS and achievements and then just see how they are performing if his performance is not equal to his GS then i prefer inviting the other lower scored player thats all im saying.

What's wrong with "inspect"? You can see if someone's good by seeing how his gear is composed and enchants/gems. By reducing it to some autogenerated number is not only stupid, it also takes fun out of the game.

oh cmon dude dont make me look stupid or something cuz im not GS is bad when you run into a situation where there is a good geared noob but face it there are very little of such situations , dont know where you play but in my realm its like that. And dont say that i would take a cloth wearing tank in group because that is just dissing, ive led tons of pugs and made guild raids as an officer when GM didnt come and everything went fine. I use GS but i dont base everything on it and go blindly.

@mephisto1982 A good raid leader uses GS and THEN Armory inspect to see if this person is worth letting in. GS is just there to make sure this scrub isn't wasting your time.

@IceMageRose A good raid leader takes his time to set up a proper group instead of shortcutting with flawed tools, which is what GS is. All it does is add up ilevels. It doesn't take into account the value they add to your gear.

A cloth geared tank is a pretty extreme example, but trinkets are a common problem. Higher ilevel trinkets arent necessarily better. I got a mage with average ilevel 252 and a 200 trinket, just to give a real-life example. Overcapped stats are another common example.

You can get banned for using that add-on and linking fake achievements.

Most people who hate GS usually think people in a 3k gear-score (gear-score addon) can pull 10k dps.

Then they usually pull out the GS doesn't equal skill.

But yes I agree with you,I usually inspect/armory someone too see if there not a holy paladin with spirit and MP5 BC gems.
