Friend: "Hey, man. What are you lookin at?"

You:"Oh, just the tongue and jaw fluctuation of a chameleon eating an insect in slow motion."

Friends response: "Why would you be interested in something like THAT?"

Your response: (Rolling yourself into a ball and on the verge of sobbing) "WHY DOESN'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND ME?!?"

  • The unique technique to actually eat their prey?! No sh*t, sherlock!

  • I meant the way they used their tongue to sort of "stick" to the insects instead of just biting first.

  • .....that...was....awesome... XD

  • bearded dragons eat like that too

  • yeah

  • wow chinese water dragons are hardly related to iguanas! CWDs are agamids and iguanas are....... iguanas lol get ur facts right

  • Note the group Iguania (often referred to as iguanians) includes what used to be the families: Iguanidae, Agamidae and Chamleonidae. Water dragons belong to Agamidae, and despite being only distantly related to iguanas share some morphological similarities to them, especially in some traits related to the way their tongues work. Thus, some aspects of their feeding are also more similar than they would be compared to monitor lizards or some other major lineages of lizards.

  • @jaynebc1 damn you just owned DCPranx haha. could you tell me which family beardies are in? (bearded dragons)

  • @jaynebc1 Wikipedia

  • @DCPranx haha nerd

  • @DCPranx idiot

  • @DCPranx I know this but you have to be able to see the similarities especially from a young age.

  • @DCPranx As Dr. Jayne rightly said. Iguania is a taxon which includes the Agamidae(CWDs, Bearded Dragons, Frilled Lizards etc.), Chamaeleonidae, Iguanidae, and rarer groups like Phrynosomatidae (the horned lizards), Corytophanidae (Basilisk lizards) etc. Also, Dr. Jayne just says lizards related to Iguanas which is as true as it gets.

  • they arnt THAT closely related to iguanas...2 completely different families agama and iguana

  • Beautiful!

  • bla bla bla but i like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My water dragons do exactly the same, if they aren't too hungry.

Sometimes, after 3 days without feeding them, they use their jaws more then their tongues.

They also do so if they suspect their prey to run away.

  • nice! its fun to watch lizards eating :D

they look so funny, i got a snake myself but i like all reptiles but mostly snakes.

  • Yes, this is a water dragon.

  • is it a water dragon?

  • Iguanas should not eat animal protein, it will cause their kidneys to shut down and may only live to about age 7 maybe 9. They are strictly herbivores, if you want your iguana to have protein in their diet try alfalfa.

  • I don't think that's an iguana. I think it's a water dragon. They kind of look like iguanas I guess :)

  • it is not an iguana its a cinese water dragon ;)

  • heheh like my pet
