double bass can get very technical and very advanced. my best friend from high school grew up taking professional lessons and he drummed like a mad man. he also plays electric guitar and he took lessons from big name people. it all helps if you have money so you can get proffessional lessons. it has a lot to do with methods and timing. I use double bass drum pedals but I am a punk drummer at best
