I thought all the Mario mushrooms were power-ups..including that Purple one. If I'm not mistaken..when we saw the Attract Mode, Mario got the Purple Mushroom and died.

when i was 7 i LOVED this game. i was always kinda better than my friends at the first mario, and when i started playing this game, it wa slike heaven. it was a challenge. i LOVE this game. it's my favorite of ALL TIME!!
