Priceless. love everything these three guys were connected to. "Husbands" is one of the most intense movies I have ever seen. Cassavettes was ahead of his time.
I don't know. When i was in high school, i loved these guys and this kind of stuff. Now i'm watching this video and thinking, 'you know, this isn't all that funny'.
Serge Gainsbourg gets drunk every time he's on television and he's celebrated as a national treasure. One time out of a million people get drunk on tv in america and the sky is falling.
RIP Ben Gazzara. All three of these titans of independent film -- who took on enormous financial risk to make their films, long before independent film was popular -- are now in the ground. The end of an era. Props to filmnoiiir for these clips.
I love these three guys, John Cassavetes was a true artists, and who cares if they were under the influence or simply being funny? I think this is hilarious!
Is it possible they're to some extent acting out the characters they play in Husbands in order to get the audience drawn into that chemistry so they will watch the film?
Okay, we get it. The Three Stooges want to show all of us terribly repressed people that they're NOT terribly repressed. And the way they do that is to act like infants. ... See, this shows us that they have no inhibitions.
That not even infants or seven-year-plds would act like they're acting, hey, that's beside the point. What's important is simple ... ... ... being a celebrity.
I'm watching the whole thing hoping that Dick kicked these guys off the show at some point because these guys were being big time jerks. They were nowhere near as funny as they thought they were. They weren't just disrespecting Dick, but also the audience.
You're a bore. I replied in "part 1/3" what I think of it, but as a fan of Peter Falk who I am, I unworthy that you comment on each of the videos of the interview only to criticize, really.
@alguien1234 It's good that you are a fan of Mr. Falk, but you have missed my point. This was a talk show and in its day it was considered the most intelligent talk show on television. When these actors went onto the show they must behave as guests to the host. Instead, they behaved very foolishly, like children, or even worse. If it was meant as a joke they carried it too far. You can tell from the audience reaction that they also were uncomfortable with their behavior of these men.
I don't know how people felt. I too would have preferred a serious interview, but I really don't think it was improvised on television, so I wouldn't blame only the guests. Anyway, we're not going to make an endless discussion about this ...
John Cassavetes succumbed to his alcoholism on February 3, 1989. Peter Falk died of natural causes 41 years after this interview (June 23, 2011). Dick Cavett and Ben Gazzara are still alive.
Thank you for providing death dates which anyone could easily obtain via a google search. How about the coffee drinking crewmember -- is he still with us??
i wish we could see the drummer as well

Can u picture any actor being uninhibited like this on public television? Not in this commercial corporate run puppet show we call the world.

It's less funny when you think about that they all were drunk.
John Cassavetes was an alcoholic who later died from alcohol abuse.
Ben Gazzara, who smokes the cigar, was later diagnosed with throat cancer.
It's kind of sad.

Back when it was noble to be an actor. Watch a talk show today and 90% of the time it's some horry star who lacks depth and true talent.
