Shaq was an unstoppable force when he was in his prime. I truly enjoyed the years he dominated the league and won championships as a Laker, and with the Heat (especially as a Laker fan :P). When all is said and done, he'll easily be named as one of the best centers to ever play the game.
I'd only slightly place him below Wilt, Kareem, and Russel. However, he's greater than Olajuwan, Moses Malone, Robinson and Mikan imo.
They didnt win that many games but there was a memorable moment every second game. or a 40 pt game every week. How about that for a 40 yr old. I love it.
Shaq is the most dominant force on a basketball court ever and despite his lows this year which isn't a surprise to anyone, he led the league in FG% last year. He's played over 18 seasons and two years of college- a lot of miles on that body and....
I feel you!! I watch highlights of the cavs and all I see is Lebron and maybe some Mo Williams highlights with some ZI thrown in err now and then. But you almost forget Shaq even plays with them. I hate to see the guys you grew up watching become role players in their later days. U cant tell him to retire bc he is still better than 15 or so other starting centers out there but ur right the 2000-01 Shaq was almost unfair bc of how he dominated.
God dammit Mike Brown, go with either Z or Shaq as the starter, don't split the times 50-50. It doesn't help the team, or the individuals.
MAKE SOME PLAYS FOR ONCE.
Seriously, the only plays Mike Brown makes is Iso at the top of the key for Lebron. As the coach, he should be making adjustments to fit Shaq in the lineup, and not just wait around for a miracle to happen.
It's too bad but atleast we have a more athletic Superman now. I don't know about all of you but I rather see Dwight "Superman" Howard dunking on players than watching Shaq trying to eat players as if they were twinkies.
Shaq is the best big man of all time, most dominant, "super-human" freak to play the game, any big man that others may the call the greatest played against white guys who are under 6'5.. BUT, he's finished, I was 5 years old watching Shaq commercials and I'm married now.. That says something...
nobody can play that good at the age of 37. I think Shaq's still a productive contributor, he help the Cavs a lot. And remember they allow fewest points in the paint across the league. Who did it? GO CAVS
the fact that jordan at 38-40 averaged 22 points per game is amazing. he scored 43 points when he was 40. he scored 51 points at 38. he may not have been the michael of old, but his 2 year stint with the wizards wasn't that bad. most players in the nba can't do what he did at that age now
Of cource Shaq is not young anymore, but his low numbers aren't just his own fault in my opinion. This teams offense runs almost entirely through LeBron James and takes Shaq's strengths away. Shaq needs the ball in order to be affective. He still hits more than 50 percent from the floor so I would still have a big green light sign for him to finish if I was his coach. Buttom line is if the Cavs don't get Shaq more envolved the team is not going to win the championship..PERIOD!
agreed...I don't even see shaq dominate in the paint anymore, he's just moving out of the way so Lebron could drive to the basket for a layup or dunk...if he's used properly, he should be averaging 16 and 8...
If you are a competitor that has been playing the game all your life, it is very hard to just stop. The money is comforting, of course. However, most of them end up missing it like hell. Look at Jordan. The man jizzes in his pants any time he hears the squeaking sound of a sneaker against the hardwood.
Hopefully though, Shaq will remain in the game in some fashion - maybe as a broadcaster of some sort.
he's been in the game 17 years... surprising to see him do it this long... when he was with the suns i thought he was done... and i thought maybe with the cavs it might be better for him because they play "his" style of offense since they already had big Z who is SLOWER than shaq.... It has to be tough for shaq not to be able to put up numbers like he used too... but he should have just left when he was thinking about it after he won the ship in miami...
Some dudes just wanna ride it till the whell falls off...love of the game u know that...every man knows when they gave it all they had and when its time to give it up
lol i hope your lovin that big boy in boston...
