All I can say is, if Seger has anymore of this stuff stashed away, pull it out and release it. Classic, beautiful Seger music. Damn this is good stuff. I feel sorry for the kids today because they don't have music like this. Musical poetry....
Where the hell did this sweet ballad come from? Is this on a commercially available album now? It's always great to find a Seger song I haven't heard. Supposedly Seger has hundreds of songs he never released or he only partially completed. Boy am I glad this one made it out. Just beautiful.
This is an awesome song.Ole Bob pulled giant rabbit out of his hat with this song.I grew up listening to him,and there is nobody better as far as I'm concerned.thanks for posting this gem!!
How or why Bob didn't release this song in the mid 80s is beyond me. It's about as wonderful as anything he ever did (no one can lyrically evoke memories like him - Mainstreet, Fine Memory, etc).
I think, though, the lyric at the start of the second verse is:
"Ice" blue skies in winter (not I'm used to)
See, then, it fits with "Flaming" trees in fall
Anyway, thanks for posting. I bought the CD after listening here. It was worth the $10 for the CD for this song and WIldfire.
@heymrbluesman i'm with you. i just got this CD and this song is instantly in my top 5 Seger songs of all time. i'm wondering why he never put this out before. do you know if there are plans to release it to the radio?
@javu19 I am glad that Bob Seger has reached you in India. Seger is an underrated genius who never had a very large fan base outside of the United States, so it's nice to see that you know his music. Cheers!

Oh, Bob, where do these sad beautiful songs come from? You seem to read our minds and hearts and souls and then say it for us all.

Icecream skies in winter
Flaming trees in fall
Magic golden summers
I think we had 'em all
Out along the shoreline
Between the sea and sand
Diving in the cool dark waters
Or walking hand in hand
