Citizen Kane is unimpressive when compared against modern film. That's not a fair comparison to make, of course... but if you're choosing a movie to watch and don't particularly care about historical significance, you'd probably rather watch, say, The Departed.
i think tom ruggger (creator of tiny toon, animaniacs and of course pinky & the brain) loves that movie because he did the same parody on tiny toon, animaniacs and P&B
@wheels85 No, you're not terrible people. HORSES are terrible people. -_-
In all seriousness, I once had a cinema professor who had to watch Citizen Kane TWENTY TIMES before she finally got what all the hype was about. I've only seen it twice, so I guess it's still okay for me to not get it yet too. ;P Sure, I see it as the landmark experiment in cinematography that it is, but the Greatest Movie of All Time? I personally would give that title to either Star Wars IV or The Wizard of Oz.
@Bobzeaux I won't say it's the greatest film ever, and my opinion is certainly not definitive; but one thing to watch out for is how Charles Foster Kane seamlessly morphs from a man with principles into one who knows only ambition. There's also some clever cinematography and framing, enough to warrant some attention in RedLetterMedia's review of "Revenge of the Sith". We take a lot of "Citizen Kane"'s technique for granted today, but it was an innovator, which is part of why it stood out.
@stenchinator OMG, what happened to your childhood? "Brain" is the name of the bearded mouse. They are both friends, but in this episode, if I remember correctly, Brain leaves out of pride, and Pinky misses him.
at 0:11 - that's supposed to be an imitation of Xanadu, which is the fictional estate of Charles Foster Kane (title character of the film Citizen Kane), right?
@EchoBoomer1987 Same here. I am the same age and I remember watching these shows when i was little. Now rewatching them in my dorm room, thinking "thats scene is from another movie and I never knew it wen I was younger!".
THE SIMPSONS did a reenactment too...on the episode when it's mr. burn's b-day (he's dreaming of his teddy bear "bobo") guess bobo is his rosebud sled
your right. supposedly brains's looks and voice are based on orson welles. the guy who does brains voice also plays orson welles a number of times on the show "the critic"
Great touch. The type of things that can make cartoons like this appeal to adults as well as children, there's no child watching that thinking "Ah yes! A Citizen Kane reference!" Great movie, funny parody.
yeah me and my brother hated Animaniacs, made fun of them and would think of different ways for them to die such as getting eaten by some thing and have them give it indigestion and p uke them up and say there would be three sets of eyes blinking but then we started to get t he humor in it and started to like them when we realized the intention was to be annoying to make jabs and ironic humor. now adays its one of the few cartoons left that doesnt make me feel robbed of dignity.
this is a famous opening scene

Brain should have gotten a scene like this, considering how much he sounds (and acts) like Orson Welles.

WHAT DOES 'BRAIN' MEAN? Is it his former lover? Is he talking about his own mind? Or his toy sled?
