  • I'm definitely not criticising here, since I've watched most of your videos and would love to have had you as my teacher at school, but some of you might not know that there are metals that expand when they cool.

Bismuth and Antimony (elements) do it, as do a number of alloys containing them, like Babbitt, Britannia and Pewter. They are useful for things like letter sets in printing presses, because they melt reasonably low and pick up the fine details on the characters as they fill the voids.

  • Have just watched your 10 part video on constructing the 21/2 x 25/8" wobbler.

You are indeed a boon to model makers.

It is also refreshing to hear that I'm not the only one dismayed about the cheap chinese import crap we have to put up with. A wornout Bridgeport or Atlas is still lots better quality and more accurate than a chinese grizzly and such.

Keep up the great work and good luck.

  • His voice reminds me of Mr Dress up. I wish Mr Dress up had these projects back then lol

  • @jvki1975 reminds me of Jimmy Stuart

  • There is nothing boring abour your videos, there very educational if nit captivating.

  • as a matter of fact, on engine blocks there are two different plugs - core and freeze. it's just a common misconception to call core plugs freeze plugs. core plugs are indeed installed where core was used for casting, but freeze plugs are expandable plugs on the block that prevent block from cracking if the coolant freezes. they just pop out

  • can you run this on actual steam?

  • No-You have to watch one at a time.

  • Stupendous! Very well articulated and produced. Content is simple yet not simplistic. You are a true docent.

    Best and God Bless!

  • Is this large oscillating steam engine going to be a single or twin cylinder?

  • single

  • Very informative videos! You said you're from Illinois, but your accent sounds like Eastern Canadian (maybe Nova Scotia). Am I close?

  • Wrong--my roots are from Northern Wisconsin. Scandanavian

  • Northern Wisconsin -- that's like Canadians with Green Cards! LOL! Keep up the good work on the vids -- I'm thinking about adding machining to my woodworking and welding skills, and your videos are helping sooo much in figuring it all out.

  • How do you carve the model patterns? Is that in the next video? gave a 5 as usual! Joseph T (fly2000jtb)

  • Next chapter.

  • This is going to be another very interesting set of videos. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with us, it is much appreciated.
