The Hondells were actually studio musicians and singers that were just assembled to do some session work - when the first record did well, the record company sent out four players to be "The Hondells". It's my understanding that one of the studio players was Glen Campbell ~ so, the reason that "The Hondells" sound so smooth and refined is because they were actually studio paid musicians - not just kids off the street making a record.
'NUFF SAID...MY BAND'S GONNA DO THIS. We do 3 songs by The Baggys - 1 Beach boys , we do Bruce and Terry and Rip Chords, Sunrays, Stick Shifts, and a few Ventures. NOTHING but 60s - and almost NONE of it is 'rock and roll' - got the old amps and guitars and we do 'em note for note.
They don't make music like this anymore, and if they did, we'd get sick of it and move on. Now that it's nostalgic, it's even better 'cause now we don't have school...can surf all week long! Oh wait- I miss school!
this reminds me of the slot car tracks here in sydney, all those monster kits, ed roth etc,hot rods, beaches and the chicks man, and not to mention comming home from the beach and the front seat was too HOT to sit on OUCH,sure was a MAGIC FUN TIME,great music, clothes, and Colour and Simplicity was the ingredients then, and the only shop open on weekends was the Fish and Chip shop, Man thinking about it all after listening to this takes my breath away some, great times, and great music, chee,rs
@r5o0b Well I think you should check out a band on myspace called "The Johnny Holidays". They're 20 somethings, and they have great harmonies and beats with a cool surfy pop sound, and tell all your friends. Cheers!

Nice. The more versions the better. It was a favourite of mine by the Surfaris. This is good! Their Little Honda is featured on 60's compilations but not much else by them in the UK.
This is the REAL DEAL, Little Honda got the Play, this SHOULD have been the Hit, Sufaris done it, BOO!, NO ONE done it like the Hondells,These Guys were a LOT better than the B Boys! By the way, Littel Deuce Coupe was a 32 Ford it was on the front of Beach Boys little Deuce Coupe Album,EVERY young boy had in 1963/64.Bucket T is a Model T with no top, big engine, chrome headers,Nice Chrome Wheels, Believe me We had it ALL,You Young guys don'r know about fast cars,WE HAD EM!
better than the Beach Boys? are you kidding me .... Not counting all the hits they had, but the Beach Boys had great songs on albums that were not hits.
@packingten Considering the late model EFI Camaro Gen 3 LS1 engine will smoke anything from flat head to SBC, we "got " the performance! Boy it's gonna suck givin it up to the new cars when im an old timer! Nevertheless, we STILL respect the hot rodders before us, and its an honor to keep driving AMERICAN hot rods, honda creeps can hit the dock and keep going!
Too bad this received little to no air play time, as it was the "B' side of their cover of "Little Honda." Add to that the British Invasion, Beatlemania, & another lost hit from the '60's. "...and the times they were a-changin'" (B. Dylan)
Well now....I remember very well when songs like this and "Little Honda" were on the radio there I was toolin' around on my own little "bike"....it had a motor and would go about 40 MPH...neat to tool around however with my girl ridin' with me on those back roads.....those fun, care freee days of youth. Thanks for the post!

What does Gary Usher say when it goes something like, "two scoop and a pocketina?"
newhoove 3 years ago
I believe those lyrics are "Duece Coupe" and "Bucket T" both references to types of hot rod cars
