  • anyone who's not a fan of ozma just doesnt know.....

  • Nerdiest band ever

  • @bmqdf yeah!

  • First, this is an Ozma song. Secondly I'm sure that's what Rivers wanted. Your respect. I agree Pinkerton was awesome, and yes their other stuff isn't in the same field. But You ever thought that maybe his mood and points of view have changed therefore he cannot create the same tone and as good a song as back then? Weezer is my favorite band. But I don't care. Once again, this an Ozma song.

  • @Double0hobo you are right about Rivers changing but he was high when he wrote the songs for Pinkerton sooo yeah. But the album Make Beleive was in a couple ways similar to Pinkerton.

  • <3 Ozma

  • yeah!!!

  • I love this song:)

  • I saw them live in 2001 along with Weezer and the Get Up Kids, it was great.

  • STOP TALKING ABOUT WEEZER... THIS IS OZMA

  • Haha like no comments are about the actual song or video

  • Let's be honest, Weezer's first two albums kick the ass on anything Ozma has written. Yes, Ozma may have stayed true to themselves, but they don't compare to the talent of Rivers. The fact that now he can write pop songs that millions of people buy just goes to show that.

  • @bbeaup matt sharp actually was the hidden genius behind most of weezer. you can see that in the crap rivers is writing now.

  • @eyelashout rivers's new garbage has been the long result of the reception of pinkerton. It has much more to do with that than Sharp. Although, I do agree that without Sharp it's not the same, and that he did add a lot.

  • Ozma owns Weezer any day. I am from orange county and have been following this band since high school! Anyone see them with smile at the glass house? AMAZING!

  • well weezer is my favorite band. but i do love ozma too. they both rock. cant we people just leave it at that.?

  • @MrsBrightside55 dude, i totally just listened to Mr Brightside, lol

  • @almostnuclearwar whoo! haha yeahh, i love the killers(:

  • Ozma is an amazing band and they have a sound unique to themselves, the only real reason they're compared to Weezer at all is their lead singer sound somewhat like Rivers. Weezer is a great band, especially live, but they simply dont have the poetic depth in lyrics that Ozma has. Weezer has always just been a pity party for Rivers...we all loved Pinkerton but honestly even the lyrics in it were kind of stupid. It was mainly just a story about how he likes asians in an overtly creepy way...

  • idk wat datalorez said but here is a quick pinkerton history.

rivers wrote pinkerton when he was really drepressed at harverd. he had just had surgrey on his leg Rivers poured his his heart and soul into pinkerton and when the public bashlashed on him for the lack of mainstream appeal. he fell into a deeper depression in the meantime matt sharp.became to into his sideproject and rivers became jealous and matt was not invited back to recording, marking the beging of weezer's downfall

  • Does anyone know the notes for the synth?

  • This band makes me want to jizz

  • I´m glad I finally found a band I can truly compare to weezer

  • Too true, my friend.

  • yeah, but they re-reviewed pinkerton in 2002 and gave it a 5/5, put it in there hall of fame, and they took a readers vote on the best albums of all time, and it was 16th. so not bad eh? lol

  • dear god this does sound like weezer. weezer is better though.ozma can't touch songs like across the sea by weezer, say it ain't so, why bother. i could go on, but damn i do like this song!

  • Pinkerton is definitely an album I've kept in my 'top ten', for about 13 years now.

But Weezer evolved in a band that writes only pop songs for commercial success. Ozma, though they never blew up, evolved. But they still wrote songs with their soul.

That is what makes Ozma the better band.

  • Well you figure weezer has been doing this for years. Me and my cousin were talking about this. You figure when youve been doing the music scene for a long time you already lived the rock star life style and you just wanna make some money doing it. I mean there isnt anything wrong with that but the music just sucks. Music sucks=more money from commercial success.

  • @datalorez This is Ozma. Not Weezer.

  • @datalorez My bad, read your lower post then replied, didn't read the top one. Either case, Ozma is amazing.

  • @datalorez No.

  • I think I got rivers cuomo to blow me once in a back alley, he was turning tricks for coke.

  • Man, this brings me back to 2001.

  • Both ozma shows i've been to, we chilled on their tour bus/van. Ryen never chilled though.

  • saw them with the rentals, they rock. DO gotta agree with the Weezer thing, i do love them but i think Rivers is kinda pretenious

  • Ozma is better than weezer in my opinion, because you can go see them live, and actually go up to them, meet them, talk with them, have them sign your shet. Never been within 100 yards of Rivers "The Homo" Cuomo, but I have been to two of his over priced shows.

Makes me sad that Ozma got rid of the fat drummer. Some might say his fat ass was holding them back from the big time. Haven't seen them since they got back together, but I want to, that's for sure!

  • Accessibility doesn't make one band better than another. Weezer wrote some beautiful music (I'm talking about Pinkerton). Ozma are good but nothing they've ever written compares to that record.

  • You say that "Accessibility doesn't make one band better than another." Historically, musicians could only be heard as far as they could sing and play their instruments. Modern technology creates an opportunity for amazing writers, such as Rivers Cuomo, to be heard around the world without him having to do all the grassroots bullshit that small time bands have to go through. That grassroots work takes away from their writing time. Rivers produced pinkerton after he had scored big ,,,

  • Rivers may be a greater song writer than either of Ozma's guys, and granted he should be: he has a degree from Harvard in English, for chrissake; my point is this: why should I pay $50+ to drive to an overpriced corporate venue to get within 100 yards of a band I really like, when instead I could go to a low key, casual venue and pay $7 to see one of my favorite bands, and share casual conversation with the musicians at the bar...

  • amen dude

  • We can look at what Weezer could do and what they actually do. Ozma actually tours on a bus to play cheap shows, and they write great songs, that give me all the good vibes that Weezer used to create, but are lacking in for the last, oh I don't know, 13 years.

Weezer's time has passed, and River's needs to pass his cape and sceptor to Ozma; they are the future of the weezer-ozma co-fans.

    Who's With Me!?!

  • well rivers is actually an extrememly shy guy, so thats probably why. He's very kind and soft spoken though, definitely not a homo!

  • Sure, he's no homo. I heard he would have girls at his room after shows, and tell them they can either take their clothes and get in bed or leave; some would stay, others would leave.

He's not quite as shy as he used to be; he seems more involved in his shows now.

He did have to take more ownership of the band when he gave his co-writer das boot. Too bad Pinkerton kind of flopped. He pours out his heart and soul and Rolling Stone gives it "worst album of the year," for shame

  • Who was his co-writer?

  • Matt Sharp, i beleive, he ended suing weezer over some royalties, i think. don't quote me on that. but the hell with weezer, they turned into something that isn't what i fell in love with almost 15 years ago

  • I don't give a fuck what Rolling Stone or Rivers has to say about Pinkerton.

There is more heart and passion in that album than anything else Weezer has ever created.

Commercial success doesn't matter for the true lover of music. Rivers should have stuck to his guns. He might not have ended being rich and famous, but he would still have my respect as a musician.

  • Hah, I don't care either. I didn't read the article, and have never bought an issue of "Rolling Stone," because I don't give two shits about what they think is 'hot or not'. and it didn't stop me from buying Pinkerton. I agree, he should have stuck to his guns.

Why you gotta be all pretentious and bitchy at me; I'm on your side:

"It's easier for a camel to pierce the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of god."

I'm not Christian, but I was quoting Jesus of Nazareth

  • I have no clue why some1 gave you a thumbs down i completely agree

  • @datalorez Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

  • @datalorez I'd rather be rich and famous than have your respect :) who wouldn't?

  • @Unitednoobs

    You'd be a terrible artist.

  • @FupidStaggot42 I am indeed :) But if you were completely honest. What would you rather have. Some dudes respect or a shitload of cash ^^ Plus, if he wasn't famous, you'd have probably never heard of him, and then the whole respect thing wouldn't work either :) I also like Blue Album and Pinkerton and am not a fan of their sellout shit. But from their perspective it makes perfect sense^^. Ozma fucking rules as well (to stay on topic here :)

  • @datalorez

Hey asshole don't judge other peoples music and and the only reason people compare Ozma to Weezer and Rivers its because their more famous than Ozma, I know I'm a hypocrite by saying this but only because its true. And just when you say Rivers should have stayed to his gun, that true but he just wanted peoples respect and he did end up being rich and famous. They have there own recording company. Another thing I haven't sceen a new Ozma album in 4 years, Weezer released 2 in 2010.

  • @datalorez

As much as I loved weezer's first two albums, your respect doesn't pay his bills and Rivers has always been somewhat insecure and cares what people think of him which is why he currently writes souless pop songs featuring Lil Wayne.

Also Spending Time on the Boarderline in a masterpiece.

  • @datalorez I personally don't think he changed his style of Weezer for money or fame... Rivers doesn't seem the type. It's because his whole musical focus has been fucked because when he poured his heart and soul into Pinkerton everybody said it was shit. Rolling Stone called it 'Embarrassing' a readers poll labeled it 'The Worst Album of 1996' and everybody was saying how much it sucked.

  • Weezer's my favorite band, and I think this is sort of cool.

  • Ozma ROCKS!!!!

  • Except for a string of flasshes in the proverbial pan

  • I haven't had a copy of this album in a couple years, this is a real treat listening to these songs again.

  • i wish bands can be this good now but 2 bad there not...hey you guys from the 80's r lucky...now i have to listen to crap on the radio..i wish they being back 90's rock...btw im from the 90's

  • this song is awesome

  • i wish bands can be this good now but 2 bad there not...hey you guys from the 80's r lucky...now i have to listen to crap on the radio..i wish they being back 90's rock...btw im from the 90's

  • "now i have to listen to crap on the radio.."

    why?

  • i like the intro

  • similar to weezer definetly, i remember being 12 years old thinking the song iceland was by weezer, i still donno. I saw ozma saves the day and weezer in 2002, my first general admission show and almost died in the crowd being 14 not realizing what goes on at concerts

  • Definitely sounds like Weezer's "I Was Made For You", and probably a couple other songs.

  • lol they it does

  • This song was released and written way before "I Was Made For You" was.

  • I know that, but someone just pointed out the similarity and I made the connection, I'm not implying any ripping off of material here.

  • You are out of your mind.

  • Yeah they're a lot alike, but hey, who couldn't use another band like Weezer? I love Ozma.. they knew what was up.

  • The little kids in this video are my mom and aunts and uncles harhar.

  • shut the fuck up pussy

  • haha what?

  • talk about an old school band, i havent listend to these guys for 6 years haha. good music.. just like weezer.

  • my uncle got me into this band

  • your uncle is a fag, man

  • I think this song got me through High School XD

  • for some odd reason the start always reminds me a bit of 99 red balloons (verson done by goldfinger)

  • Ryen totally looks like Adam Sessler in this video. :P

  • Oh no! You're right! XD

  • LOL!

Finally, someone has said this, I've always thought that but never mentioned it

  • The DJ at Curry College played this loud and proud often. Glad to find it again.
