Hmm if guys like Callisto you should check out (in case you dont already know;) ) Isis, Cult Of Luna, A Swarm Of The Sun, Amen Ra, Aoria, At The Soundawn, Envy, Generation Of Vipers, Giant, Irreversible, Mouth Og The Architect, North, Swallow The Ocean, Tides, Year Of No Light etc :)
Man,you forgot Neurosis...the fathers of all this, and I also suggest Pelican, another strumental/doom band that is absolutely amazing, from his monumental music,to his deep and wonderful concept(titles, albums, covers).
Doom totally rules this sad world.I'm happy of it.
i totally agree with you but Neurosis, while being one of the "major players" in this "genre", is still very different from most of the bands. I also don't like them as much as I like ISIS or this band for example. Battle of Mice and Rosetta are a great recommendation.
i know, but when compared to the entire planet, us fans of music like this are few in numbers, i like to think of us as the chosen few, cheers 4 that, also, buy their cd's and help promote
probably the most clean cut looking metal band ever lol! they are pretty amazing though.

Someone asked me to describe Callisto once. My answer was simple: Finnish saxophone out of fucking nowhere.
What a great band.

this band is great...it's a good thing original bands keep appearing in this genre to bury all the Isis and Neurosis clons once and for all.

Callisto. Definately the greatest band in Finland. I just wish I'd meet those guys, they seem really cool and humble fellas.
Amazing stuff, ever since A Dying Desire.

Shame they don't use the saxaphone live. Sounds far better than that synth does in the mid section if you ask me. Still, amazing vid.
