Sorry but after looking at parts 1 and 2 can I just say experts in any particular field don’t always become the best at putting that information across to new users. They forget that some one using a program for the first time is still trying to locate where you are pointing the mouse by which time you have moved on.

...Some of the best tutorials are those I have seen where a complete novice is trying to follow the instructions and asking all the stupid questions as he goes. Going back to when Lotus 123 first came out and the tutorial was on VHS. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism and nothing personal.

If you didn't knew tables are at least 50% of layouts.

sites that use tables for layout are either old or designed by people who don't know css and hence shouldn't be designing sites.

the w3c recommends that tables only be used for tabular data. shows how much you know.

when creating horizontal or vertical menus can you use pre-made buttons or make your own as images but still keep them a click-able link?

yes. in both cases you just need to make sure the image path/name is address correctly in the code.

hi thanks for taking the time to do these vids. i just have one question... what is the point of fireworks? photoshop gives u much more features...

I found a free download for fireworks the otherday and its like the same size as photoshop, but photoshop owns. There is no point in it, its just another useless product.

fireworks cs4 will create the html and css for you without absolute positioning. I've yet to use it but i imagine the code might be a bit messy and convoluted. other than that photoshop works just as well.

the image folder you need it if you want to put images on your website.. ;).... you can create one by simply -> right click (on the file that you want to create the file)-> create new file...

when i high light a word and use the point source link icon to point my files bar closes on the right side before i can point it to the file, i have to search for it folder and place

its just the res of your screen mate. same happend to me . . . it is the right size just your resolution of your screen is not as low as his.

anyone know why in the html code after inserting the banner the code reads as <img src="../images/banners....... instead of <img src="images/banners/... basically why is there two "periods" before the images folder? thanks for any help

at 770 his banner takes up the width of the page . . . mine does not . . . why?

you have to make sure the image you create for your banner outside of dreamweaver has a width of 770 pixels

im not 100% sure. its something to do with designing the templates in the mockup.HTML and then saving it as a template to use in the other pages. i think he explains it in tutorial 2
