  • the best

  • Love the vibe

  • Interesting video

  • Thanks for the great video

  • give it up for nasa finally catching up with esa with vlogging

  • cool video. better than mine.

  • need mroe gas emmissions to cool the earth to combat global warming! wait, what?

  • Comment removed

  • very interesting. I wonder if this daily data is viewable by the public

  • @2SecSee4u It is, go to terra [dot] nasa [dot] gov, and click the Images/Data tab at the top of the page.

  • Whether global warming exists or not those deniers wouldn't want to inhale poisonous gases or get stuck with very finite energy resources, right?

  • what is?

  • Your mom

  • EXACTLY.

  • When they can give me a reliable weather prediction for next week I'll take their long term conclusions a little more seriously.

  • Lol. Because the elementary physics behind the Green House Effect and the myriad of variables that affect weekly weather are the same thing.

  • who them or the news weather? They do give out accurate weather, though it does vary between weather forcasters. And another factor is duration, for example forecasters may says is coming today from the east, but the rain may stop halfway there, or wind factor, which way the wind may blow, which may cause rain to go another direction.

  • It seems to me the political and financial wind need to be considered as well when assessing a forecaster's motives and reliability.

  • and evidence would be contrary to your beliefs.

  • You are confused...I am an agnostic on the cause for climate change. The burden of proof falls to you and the human cause fundamentalists. The rush to draw conclusions is the issue I question. Climate change fundamentalist political groups that control the grant money are trying to scare the world into knee jerk untested actions. There is no pure science in reality. Scientists are just as human as the next naked ape. History of science is very telling on this.

  • You don't sound very agnostic.

Evidence clearly shows that the warming is due to greenhouse effect. Stratospheric cooling in tandem with surface warming is conclusive.

Human activity is dramatically adding to the amount of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Several lines of evidence support this.

Remaining agnostic in the light of such evidence is ridiculous.

  • You're the one who said the wether "changes" according to political and finacial need, what proof do you have of this. I on the hand, have given you proof of the wehter news are accurate, but how factors may change the outcome. I don't know what the human cause fundamentalists are, so i do not connect myself with what I do not know. You aren't "agnostic" to weather change, you said just now that political and finacial need motivates sciantific outcome, where's your proof?

  • The small amount of actual data compared to estimated earth age is just a sliver...don't confuse circumstantial postulating to actual data. Catastrophe scare tactics to move the masses before enough data is in, is comparable to scaring the masses into getting getting saved before ....chicken little returns...or something like that....dinosaurs were killed by the lack of emission control devices...ya it's all making perfect sense.

  • Actually no it doesn't make sense... the way I'm hearing it is that because we don't have enough data to predict future weather events, but can predict possible outcomes based on current data, it must be the finacial and political needs that push the scientists to say "this is a possible outcome", when in reality they are, and have been saying for quite sommetime now, "this is the worst case scenario, given our current enviroment data."

  • The ones that hold the purse strings have as much influence to motivate anyone, even the so called pure of heart scientist can be influenced....but I will support the continued study of all phenomena and climate change is right up there in priority...lets not forget the infrared heater at the center of our system. We just received two nice doses of X-rays within the last couple of weeks....first in about a year....there maybe many causes, it may not be all about us.

  • All true, it is POSSIBLE that a scientist(meteorologist in this case) can decieve the masses with the reward of materialistic means, but ARE they? No one is saying it's just us that cause the heating to occur, and is statement you accepting that the is in fact heating up?

  • I do accept the evidence presented so far that the heating up...never denied it. I only question the cause and effect relationships that we've reckoned and the ones we haven't yet imagined. I think the Andromeda galaxy may be another accident just waiting to happen...I mean if you want really worry about the planet..or more...lol

  • yeah I've heard about the adromeda galaxy coming into contact with our own. scary stuff that is. To say scientists COULD be telling lies is one thing to assert without evidence is another. It could in fact be a possibility, but it is a possibility without evidence.

  • I've heard the "Truth" is the lie that can best explain the situation and can most reliably predict the effects of events....until a better truth comes along......jury is still out.

  • And that relates to the discussion how? well, other than your blatant way of saying scientist can lie, so they do.

  • Just the history of our perceptual knowledge....today's truths are tomorrow's fables.

  • Ancedotes still does not hold your point. And remember, that some truths ARE truths.

  • Can you name even one....we catalog and compare what we don't know and try to make sense out of it. We represent the symbols created in our mind with air vibrations that we call words and marvel at our accomplishments. We only recognize intelligence if we can spot our own reflection in it. Our definition of life is much too narrow. We're only scratching the awesome surface. Until more data is available I draw no ultimate conclusions. Please relate some of your intrinsic truths to me.

  • @TheoKluges what do mean "too narrow"? Why shouldn't we marvel at ourselves, we done what no other lifeforms has done. Our uniqueness lie mojorly in our intellegence so it wouldn't be suprising that we compare ourselves to other life intellectually. Or do you mean that if something is intellegent we must acciosciate it with our selves? We "catalog and compare" what we don't know so we see how it adds up, so we do know. Now you're just giving artsy wording, but no substance.

  • @TheoKluges Now for your question..

"can you even name one..." I assume you mean "truths", in accordance to how I use it, truth in our reality. Scientific laws and scientific theories are just two example that hold even more examples. People are always looking for "ultimate truth" assuming it's out there, but even if it is and we just have yet to find it, we still have these truths, truths that help us understand our reality.

  • So when you stated and I quote "Ancedotes still does not hold your point. And remember, that some truths ARE truths." Am I correct in thinking that you were not referring to ultimate truths?

  • no not ultimate truths, just relative truths, relative to our reality, as we don't exactly know if the same principles would apply to another.

  • Well if you're looking for substance...at least the last time I checked the experts, there is very little at the atomic level...I don't know If understand is the word I would use, but trying to learn does seem our bent. I am a very cynical old man, but still awestruck when it comes to learning ...and you seem young and idealistic...good luck....and walk without fear that sky will fall tomorrow....no one mourns the dinosaurs. But it helps to pass the time to learn about them.

  • I don't know if the good luck was sarcastic being that you yourself expressed... yourself as cynical, but thanks anyway. I really just wanted information if you had any on this, wasn't really trying impose what is seen, but you are honest. I do see were you are coming from, it's possible to jump to logical conclusion even without evidence to support it, and it may even be true. At least we both can agree that not everything is as they seem. You may be right, I just like to compare possibilities.

  • No sarcasm intended. Thanks to the quantum realm we can believe in luck again...lol!

I think human self importance is the result of gravity. In order to fight its heavy effects we must grab a hold of gravity's opposite force, which is, of course levity. I have not seriously considered the climate issue other than from a curious observer. I, thanks to you, am investing some time looking into the issue. The Boltzmann equation allows me dismiss the IR heat loss conspiracy theory.out of hand.

  • ok climate change i m still very iffy on it but my question is why would anyone want to hide evidence that the earth is warming up , if that where to have negative effects on the planet

i mean do they just get off on hiding things or is it about money like it always is ?

  • the only people in denial about global warming are the political right and they're largely funded by oil and coal companies.

  • ok thats explains a ot and answers all my questions

and politics funded by corporations really sucks something should be done about that

  • Yeah, but then, these people deny any real science period.

  • some people may be afraid of the reality of things, others simply do not want hear of such thing, while the rest may think anything scientific is a hoax or the government is trying to trick us.

  • I cannot wait for more videos like this.

  • at least this time they don't imply co2 is causing climate change.

  • evi0blackeagle

They don't need to. I don't think 'Terra' measures atmospheric CO2. That is done from earth-based measuring centers.

  • 'MOPITT' is one of the Terra satellites and can measure CO and methane but not CO2.

I thought you might be a denier from your post. My suspicion was right. Again, we have been monitoring CO2 from earth based centers. What you 'believe' isn't being listened to by scientists. That's a good thing. Science is designed to take out opinion, bias or belief without evidence. Good luck with your journey of denial.

  • @evi0blackeagle Do you think it is prudent to question a persons education while you do not follow the basic rules of grammar and sentence structure?

  • Like I said before, it's a good thing that your 'club' of pseudo-science is not effective anymore, especially with governments around the world. We went through this with Ozone problem deniers and good thing we went with the consensus on that and not the special interest groups bent on obfuscating the truth. (Montreal Protocol)

As to why I didn't ask you for your sources, I have done that for over twenty yrs now and have read all the tripe from your club. No need to do that again.

  • "i am a denier" and then goes on to say "when i read an article i leave my bias at the door." ;ok then, whatever you say .*sigh.

lets not politicize this stuff and let the scientists get on with it , evi0blackeagle we do no need your input ,because you're an uneducated layman ,if you claim you are not ,then produce a scientific paper and get it peer reviewed .

  • I suggest you go to NASA[dot]gov and read the article entitled "2009: Second Warmest Year on Record; End of Warmest Decade."

  • @evi0blackeagle

Why "imply" a well-established scientific FACT?

  • Comment removed

  • As ususal,very interesting information,thanks a lot.
