  • These are drafted 18-20 year old soldiers in His Majestys the King's Guard (HMKG) They train for about 4 months before going around the World preforming and representing The Norwegian King!

This is military style, and not a American University drumline! You guys should se them march! It is amazing!

  • awsome

  • TEQUILA!

  • TILT!! CRAZY TILT!!!

  • @mfold01 Really? How can you criticize the piece of music that was chosen when the technique was that excellent?

  • Cool!

  • Comment removed

  • why would they not just use high tension with Kevlar heads

  • @mrdlog Because it sounds stupid. Besides, it's far more punch in these drums. Stand right next to them when they are drumming and you WILL need ear protection!

    Thirdly: Tradition!

  • @mrdlog That sound doesnt fit what they're going for.

  • My GOSH that was amazing!!!!! I think that I'll have to respectfully disagree with the DCI commemts. lol

  • @mfold01 I case you didn't know, those drums are not high tension snares. They are 14x16 brass drums held together with rope. The tension of the rope is done by hand.

  • @mfold01 dude its scottish drumming old school style and actully that style and sound they are using was created in the southern part of the united states. so there drums sound perfect for what they are doing and its not like they are being juged have you ever heard of just having fun with it

  • Extremely well choreographed. Serves its purpose for show, definitely.

But these blokes aren't playing anything or moving anything like any corps from DCI. GO TO A DCI SHOW. THEN YOU'LL KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. "hearing of dci" / watching youtube vids is meaningless.

Despite the fact that these guys have years to learn a single show and have been doing it their whole life. Very pretty. Not reflective of high skill, so I'm not impressed.

    Definitely not "best drumline".

  • Hi, im not saying you are wrong about others beeing better (always someone better out there).. But these guys have only about 6 months of traning, the royal guard gets switched out every year with fresh soldiers.. they ar all about 18 to 20 year old..

  • @PRO7E They are 20 year old conscripts in H.M.K. (His Majestys the Kings) guard, Norwegian army and have only trained for 4 months

  • reguardless of what anyone in the comment section says they have to admit that the visuals are extremely clean, and it take more than alot of talent to keep the beat, and use proper technique to play the "simple" cadence.

    i mean come on people

  • Their so good because they represent royalty!

  • Awesome

  • By the way, this is from Globen Stockholm in Sweden, in the year 2000. I know, i was in the drillplatoon :-D

  • woooaaah! nvm!

  • this ....

    is NOT what I expected.

    what the heckk..

  • wow

  • damn,,,,,,there awesome lol

  • kevlar please. thanks

  • I'm with stupid..

    @cheath432

  • theyre doing some jabawakee, stuff lol

  • cymbals LOL.. why ? and bells ?

  • Cymbals act as a high hat as a metronome for the drumline while the bells provides the melody.

  • Cymbals are important in any drumline. Bells I consider Pit Percussion, which is standard in new age drumlines in DCI etc

  • their handmovemetns where all the same.. everything!

i actually thought they used camrea tricks...

    1 word..

    EPIC

  • they sound more like concert snares...

  • like toy sodiers that was amazing

  • wow~~~~cool!!

  • dam!!! dem boyz on point!

  • DAMN!!!! they are amazing!!

  • That was HOT!!!

  • TEQUILA!!

    Very sharp!!

  • hehe, i like the bass drummers' mallet visuals x]

  • THAT WAS HOT SON I LIKE THAT

  • I have heard of DCI.. but i doubt you really know what youre talking about, i would agree that the blue devils are fantastic, but this was the King's Guard from Norway so its a military band, and in their respective field, Norway is one of the best in world. so stop criticizing what you don't know about and respect a good band

  • You're being too egotistical about your own culture.

You should really learn to accept the talent and traditions that come from other parts of the world. To me, I don't understand why they only have one single bass drum, why the snares are tuned so low, and what the point is with the single show-style tenors. But it is still so interesting!!

I think the visuals here are the most impressive I've ever seen! No one can argue with that!

Learn to compare other cultures rather than bash on them!

  • I could of course explain a little.

The reason for why the snares are tunes so low, is that they are rope tensioned (Those in the front.) Why they use one bass drum..I don't know. Why do you need more then one anyway?

Tenors? Those in the back is snares aswell. But those are rod tensioned standard parade snares. (NOT high tension)

  • Thanks for explaining.

I have more questions now though:

Why do they not use high tension snares with kevlar heads? they help with clarity and projection of course.

Why do they have rope tension and rod tension snares together? And are you saying the rod tension snares are the tenors?

I like a bassline playing melodic runs up and down rather than one guy playing basic rhythms. Thats why more than one, and five is ideal. the 5th bass is kinda like what is here, and the top four are melodic.

  • Ah well, now i think we are more into the traditional part. You see, this drumline is from a military bataljon called His majesty the kings guard of norway. (HMKG)

The kings guard is an old infantry regiment, and with that old regiment follows certain Traditions that needs to be "Taken care off" in a way.

    But im sure you understand.

Regarding the bass thing, those kind of melodic things did not exist in in the early 1900's ;) Hence they are not using them.

    I hope this explains a little ;)

  • HMKG har aldri vært regimentstørrelse da. De er en bataljon og har aldri vært større enn nå med sine 7 kompanier.

  • High tension snares with kevlar heads do NOT help with projection. The Old Guard with 5 rope tension snares (at the most) will play with more volume than the Blue

Devils could get with 9 or 10 modern snares. One thing about the new drums is that they really do expose ticks. With such a short, crisp sound any mistake will stand out. They force a line to be clean.

  • there playing tequila(ima mexican i would know).

  • for what it is its good

  • This is awesome!!!

  • shit,

thats the fucking most intense thing ive ever seen

  • dang all i got to say is thats awesome

  • It looks so rinky-dink...

  • Nigg'z WISH they could play like that!!!!

  • This reminds me of Mario... I don't know why...

  • The rhythm is kind of bland, but the precision is unbelievable. What college is this?

  • College?

    This is a conscript band.

It's the band of His Majesty the king's guard of norway. (HMKG)

  • their percision and choragraphy is so close and so good they almost look animated nicely done

  • damn now that's what i call precision.

  • not even close to divi 1 level..but cool

  • and it still looks way cooler. Odd!

  • Bad ass visuals

  • damnn every move timed PERFECTLY....AWESOMEE

  • Cool Stuff, wicked neat... not the best. DCI corps have the best drumlines in the world, this is cool but you can't compare them to The Cadets, or Blue Devils, or SCV, or almost any corps for that matter.

  • Oh, you can? I would like to see that.I'm sure it's "really clean". :(

  • you're fake and annoying.

stop saying this on every drumline video

  • There is a big difference between your drums and these =)

  • thats amzeing how they can do that stuff at the same time

  • visuals r cool but the music sucks!!!

  • Visually, really awesome. Music not so good

  • Definitely not best drumline. They're a show and music wise aren't playing half the notes played in any junior corps or WGI line.

  • @drumzz2much dude you cant compare everything to corps and everyone has their own technique and playing style thats what makes a band or drumline stand out from the rest. have an open mind. besides you dont see drumcorps do visuals that clean

  • good visuals but you really shouldnt say best drumline because they are DEFFINETELY NOT the best

  • tequila!!

  • this is norwegian:D

  • im glad sumone posted this video with enuff views to give it recognition it deserves! (i posted it awhile back also but noone saw it) Where did u find this video and do u have any more like it?
