Isn't Quake Live where they reduced Rocket direct hit damage by 2/3rds because hitting people with rockets isn't newb friendly, they also reduced Rail damage by a whopping 50% because being a good shot is cheap. They did buff the shotgun though, firing a massive wall of crazy damage because screen clearing attacks are so damn pro.

Play Open Arena or Quake 3 if you want to play real Quake. Live is some sort of horrendous joke that broke the community.
