  • Hey. Thanks for posting this one. One of my favorites. Can't believe it's been so long but these guys have been a favorite act since late 70's. Wow. Got to see 'em live at Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta in '96(?). Well worth it. Cheers.

  • AWESOME!

  • Really clear audio, thanks for the upload.

  • wow, what is the source of this master? The original Southern Accents LP, or perhaps Playback boxset, 1997 CD Pressing or from AAC or MP3 download?

  • @Paspiedreamcast It comes from the Greatest Hits album, converted ti .mp3 prior to upload :)

    Glad you enjoyed the song.

  • @EssK Greatest Hits doesn't include Rebels so it can't be :o the only Southern Accents track on Greatest Hits is 'Don't Come Around Here No More'

  • @Paspiedreamcast You're absolutely right. For some reason when I replied to you I had in my head that we were talking about Free Fallin'. My train of thought gets so easily side tracked ;P It was indeed Southern Accents album that the source file was from :)

  • Thanks for the upload, it IS excellent sound.

  • A yankee is the son of a rebel

  • I remember watching the Pack Up the Plantation video. He did a simple intro to the song and then the Rebel Flag lit up the background. I thought that was so cool. Still do!

  • Great tune from the old days, Thanks 4 posting.

  • I like Tom Petty and I like this song, but I am still really glad that the Union crushed the Confederacy.

  • @comparativeadvantage haha i know, is it bad that for a second, i almost gave the Confederacy a break just because Tom Petty likes them?

  • @Rusty09220 Look where your shitty union got you today, if the south won life for your states today would be a hell of alot better but oh no the union was all about big government and for intruding on peoples lives through mind games, deciept and lies. Thomas Jefferson would have scoffed at and overthrown this Oboma bullshit into the dumpster where it belongs. You sir are in dire need of a history lesson and a good slap in the face.

  • @johnyrebel188 Hahaha Yeah im studying chemical engineering, not history or fictitious hypothetical history... but to be honest you could be right. Who knows? As for now, I guess ill just roll with what actually happened.

  • I like Tom Petty and I like this song, but I am still really glad that the Union crushed the Confederacy.
