You people are incorrect, it's not based on the Voyager, it hasn't existed for like 12 years now, btw Plymouth(typo i know) not Chrysler. You guys would of been correct if you had SAID based on Town and Country/Grand Caravan, and for the bult by part you should of said Daimler Chrysler which owns Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram(as of 09 Ram trucks got there own brand, The Ram Brand). The Odyssey is simply put the best minivan in terms of quality, reliability, and it's a great driver. There's no way the routan which is chrysler based, can be better than the Odyssey .

Well, it actually is. It's based on a defunct platform (Golf Mk4). It is a niche product, and a quirky one to boot, based on the "nostalgia" theme that runs rampant in the US market. It never sold in Europe just because of that (you could get a infinitely better pakaged car in the form of the Golf) - and for VW this market is way more important than the US (they sell less than 200k cars in US anyways). Thank God they will KILL this Barbie-Mobile.

Sorry to tell you, but VW is making the next gen New Beetle as we argue. The American market and the Beetle were vital to Volkswagens initial sucess, and will continue to be. The Golf is successful in Europe because people dont revere the Beetle like we do. Americans dont care for the Golf, but we do care for the Beetle. The next generation is going to be smaller, more muscular, and it supposed to be less retro and more efficient. I cant wait to see it.

The reason Volkswagen sells few cars in the US, is because VW has drifted so far from the ideals that made it a success. VW's once were small, economical, simple, and were CHEAP. Today, the only thing still true on that list is economical. Also, the distinctive styling that made VWs stick out is also gone. VW has sold out, creating designs that mimic and look like anything else on the road. VW needs to get back to its roots and build a cars for all people once again.

Sorry to burst your US-centric bubble, but VW is a generalist, that goes toe-to-toe with GM, Ford and Toyota, so it HAS to be everyting for everyone. Going back to the basics just won't due. They are, at least in Europe, the middle of the middle, not too hot (Audi ) or cold (Skoda). As for the succes of the Beetle, why should anyone cherish a POS that they used when they were too poor to afford anything else? Remember, in US the Beetle was the SECOND car, while in Europe it was the ONLY car.

Your IGNORANT of the facts, plain and simple. Beetles, Buses, Ghias, Type 3s and so on represent VW when it was at its finest (Look at the sales figures). The new VWs are just like everything else, 90% plastic, cheap parts, poor quality, and they are EXPENSIVE. VW has to have specific cars in each region, because not everyone LIKES THE SAME THING. Golf=Europe, New Beetle & Jetta=US, and until 2003, the old Beetle in Latin America.

Actually I've been to Europe, in 2005 (and I did ride on the old route master bus before they retired them), to France, England, Belgium, Holland and Germany, thank you very much. But I know VW didn't make their own platform for this van.
