Wow there is a lot of bad singing here... I think the sound tech did a terrible job... there must have been bad foldback cuz most of these singers sung so badly and out of tune like they couldnt hear the music.. I hope this was a rehearsal and NOT the live performance ALTHOUGH it does sound like a very bad performance... The recorded CD version sounds better than this.. it sounds great! ONLY Michael Jackson sounds good here but I know others in the line up can sing =)

@MJJirresistable yea, i agree with you 100% , and he wanted to release the song again but again it was boycotted by sony-reccords. yesterday on 9/11 there was a festival in town with manny bands and singers, i asked them to sing this song b/c it would be good to sing it but they dindn't know the lyricks and music of it. well i did my best. i hope it will be released on the cd which is prommissed by his mom

@minoeke7 there's a small site/blog that i saw just recently for 9/11 tribute,it says paul mcCartney&Michaeljackson were among the first 10 artists who made a contribution to help and raised fund for 9/11 victims. just a SMALL media site/blog,and CBS will replay paul's 9/11 charity show in VH1, while the mainstream media sites were all busy copying/pasting the news of "Michael Jackson" plot to flee the US if convicted, blah blah blah! where in we all know that was Media spin does again tactic!

yeah besides usher and MJ, everyone sounds like crap, but it's not really their fault. it sounds like this thing wasn't rehearsed too well and the mics sound like they were cutting in and out. if u listen to We Are the World anytime it was sung live with all those stars, it never sounded that great. they should have just stuck to a few main people for the live version and like a choir for the background vocals. it would have sounded alot better that way. but it was for a good cause so it's cool!

i give michael jackson tons and tons of respect for putting this together and the song and everything... but they could've arranged this live version a little better so that it didn't need to be dubbed over the way it was. i'm not saying it was MJs fault, just the people that ran this event

The event was put together at the last minute and Michael threw tribute together a few hours before, to close the show. There were 18 acts with changeovers, the day ran long and the complications were many. No line checks, no sound checks... just push the piano out on stage and hope it works along with everything else! The other bands sounded great, but this was all slapped together last minute.

I provided pianos for the event that day, eight of the artists used piano in there set... Krsytal Harris, Rod Stewart, Carol King, Bette Midler, Marriah Carry and whoever else. Actually this was the first take at the end of the show... I believe they did three takes. All the other acts went very well, most were live not to track.
