What an immense version! Can't believe this has slipped under my radar for so long. That b&w footage of Small Town i love - she looked fantastic, and in response to 1986billyk, no , i don't think there are too many - certainly not in Boots the Chemist anyway.........although she could give me the prescription for my ailment any time etc....frnarr fnarr.....sorry - i'll get me coat.
As a fellow Bradfordian, Kiki can do no wrong-particularly on a classic Northern sound like this. Sadly, Bradford's all SSBBWs with tattoos nowadays. Not many babes like Kiki around....
kikis so gorgeous/sexy/sweet/ maybe she shouldda stayed soul and glamour girl rather than get into rock and r&b. it couldda damaged the sublimity of her inate talent .she had that other worldly mystique in her voice. hard to explain.
I wish she would tour again.....Kiki come to Canada, please!.....Bieber and classic rock rule the airwaves here...Help us!...(not that theres anything wrong with classic rock...its just most stations have a play list of 100 songs...played over and over again...aarrrgh!)
your the ultimate artist kiki you know how to put all the right stuff in a song. the more i listen to you the more i discover how great you are!!! your voice is effortleesly transporting!!!!
a voice full of love and magic a beautiful face sweet and vunerable i think i hit the essence of kiki dee. what a girl. do they still exist ? im so taken by her i hope she reads this
I recall grooving to her "Star" in 1980. It's downright bizarre how her 1960's work was seemingly forgotten by the time she did her duet with Elton John in 1976 and even that was forgotten when she had her breakout album in 1980. But she never did catch on big over here.
Probably Britain's most under-rated female singer...seen Kiki live in 'Blood Brothers' as well as a gig in London where she sang live with a band for hours, and l adore her. This video is a treasure, just like Kiki Dee...
Totally agree she is one of the great under-rates. What I love about her is if you listened to just one song you might think "ok, but no big deal" but when you listen to a selection of her range you understand just how little of the total package you get at any one time. Modern singers tend to go straight to overdrive and stay there. All you get is the bellow. With a fine singer like this, you know there is always much more in reservere
Absolutely 100 % agree..... and ........Love Makes The World Go Around what a fabulous song and beautifully sang by her... she should have been an absolute mega star!! ....well I think she's a GEM!!!!
She's gorgeous, has a great voice and wonderful stage presence. The music industry is like every other business and they don't always play fair. Kiki should have been at the top.
Love this song! Kiki truly made some great records in the 60's. This is her at her blue eyed soul best. This record is perfect. Her 60's singles & 2 albums are worth hearing. She had a 10 year career before the Elton John connection.

what does it mean when someone says i dig you
ilubelsalvador 2 years ago
@ilubelsalvador "I dig you" is very old slang for "I like you", like to be interested in dating. So, "Dig" is old for "really like".

Oh my gosh, she does such a GREAT job with this song. Jerry Butler and Lorraine Ellison, also did GREAT jobs with this song.
If music was like this nowadays, I'd listen to it.

Back for another look at your video, I noticed Cathy McGowan at 2:08. Is that a clip from Ready Steady Go? I guess it is.
JerryX68 3 years ago 4
Yeah! Presenter from 1964-6 of the Rediffusion television music show
Lesley Hornby - Twiggy, regarded McGowan as her heroine:
"I'd sit and drool over her clothes. She was a heroine to us because she was one of us".
