  • yo its crazy, listen to what he's saying in this song this is an old song and its still relevant today.

  • This is a weird song construction. If you heard it without vocals you'd assume the verse section was meant to be the chorus and vice versa.

  • I love the way the Avalanches sampled this in the mixtape. They were able to get a lot more of the song in that version and it sounds amazing.

  • @SergeantBacon i never knew they were sampled? nice to know he was sampled :D love this song and agony exctasy for some odd reason

  • i wish it was 1982 now , i was 13 and loved kid creole , even my dad who then would have been nearly 50 liked them , he thought they were funny , and liked anyone for trying to get on in life , they were never going to be in music hall of fame , bit even so very good and entertaining ...........................

  • wow this is great! i discovered this thanks to the avalanches

  • Just discovered this today. Love it. I collect vinyl records, and want to obtain this, so now I have a (stupid?) question: This particular version sounds way cooler, way more bass-heavy, than the others I can find. Is this an actual live recording, or is it the "remixed" version that I see on some of the original 12" EPs? If you can help, I'll be indebted!

  • this song rocks very catchy

  • another blast from the past...great track this and still sounds good....stool pigeon...kid creole......

  • love this song

  • Not only was Prince a big fan,President Bill Clinton was too! He had the Kid and The CoCoNuts to perform at the White House picnic after his 2nd Inauguration.

  • 2 questions - is it Prince's dad? and is the bloke a pimp?

  • @BadEggCymru No, you miserable git.

  • Is that Morris Day dancing around there?

  • This song was the reason I became addicted to base

  • Has to be in my top 40 list from the 80s - probably why I'm stil ADDICTED TO BASE

  • wow,

    listen to the strong base

actually the base player is the guy with an afro look behind the "c" in the background

    fantastic classic tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @abstracttruth hehehe after growing up on the blues country rock heavy and gospel music we all became a organ player in a band and sometimes,if mainunksfraihait allowed we are the opening act in a showbusiness.

  • shhhit!after 2 years mr razzmatazz got only 198407 hits.it wouldnt be much of a strech to suggest that august darrell is the greatest synthersist of disco salsa the world has ever known...but we are only in germany, the united germany of klugscheissers and gagas

  • I WANT TO SHAG A FIT BIRD TO THIS SONG! WHISKEY!

  • I met Kid Creole - coolest fucker ever.

  • The bass player in this song is fantastic! He makes the song, the rest is sooperb aswell tho. I rember trying to copy it on my bass wen it first came out, its just sooooooooooooooooo funky.

  • Happier times, happier music.

  • OMG!!! I remember this song from when I was a really really little girl. I'm talking BEFORE pre-school! I haven'te heard this song since then, but I remember it.

Sad: I've only be on this planet for 29 years, but I've seen music go from the far end of great (1980's) to the deep end of horrible (now).

  • They all look fantastic and a great tune

  • Kid Creole, the most funny of 80'.

  • hmmmm !! Great

  • Seen mr creole the cool he's brilliant.

  • very good the coconuts humm!!!!! ha chat chat

  • I love this band, and I have the cassette with this song on it somewhere.

  • hahaha GIANT BANNANA! !

  • unübertroffen!

  • had no idea Prince was into 'em

    thats fuckin cool

I got into 'em through a reference from some fucked up weird punk bands for real

tha funk is undeniable right even if the ladies cannot dance to it lmao

  • what the hell is that dance? oh lawdy lawdy...

  • I kinda expected this to be dated and laughable. Like Rick Astley.

I was wrong. It doesn't sound like its nearly thirty years old.

  • i was and still am a punk at heart, but always loved these guysand gals. noone else like em. awesome

  • A great find. Thank you for posting this video.

  • my god i love this song...and i only just heard it for the first time a few days ago! the only thing i knew of this band from the MTV days (when they use to play videos) was Endicott. Great tune!!

  • great post

  • It's very easy to understand why Prince was such a big fan of this group!! Visually, they had more of a 1940's look, but the music was pure 1980's genius. This tune has one of the catchiest hooks ever. Ha-cha-cha-cha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AJ5166

My God! My gf and I read your comment and looked at their performance as a whole....We're now starting to realize how much Prince bit off of other people.

  • @snipercheez Prince was also influenced by Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, George Clinton and Jimi Hendrix. He took both musical and visual cues from those artists while still maintaining his own identity.

  • @AJ5166

Yeahhh...those are the obvious ones...but looking at Kid's whole set up...I even see where he got the idea of Jerome. He bit Kid Creole and he bit him HARD!

  • @AJ5166 isn't the lead singer cab calloway's grand son?

  • @Limekiln71 Acording to Wikipedia, he was born in the Bronx, NY in 1950, there was no mention of him bein' a relative of Cab Calloway. I must admit he does have resemblance to him.

  • @AJ5166 thanks for answering, but as soon as i posted the comment i thought "why don't i just look it up myself" and i did. i'm glad i did because i never knew they had soo much going on i previously thought they were a one hit wonder group

  • ive gotta say, though the dancing is funky, it is how you wanna dance to this song!

  • Sorry meant Mr Hernandez!!

  • back in the day it was so cool to listen to these guys

  • @TheCasao86 because THEY were so cool! :)

  • Darnells dancing is worth the clip on his own

  • @Scarecrow901 , i hope i'm not being stupid, but who's the guy in the brown suit ? that loose oldschool breakdance footwork is amaaazing

  • Its Andy Hernandez/Coati Mundi. He also recorded some stuff with the Coconuts - check out 'Me no Popi' theres plenty versions on here. Classic, "When I came from the VD clinic, I thought our love was finished"..
