  • Sounds better than most singers out right now in their 20's! What a shame...R.I.P.

  • She was so cute and looked so young! I'm sure it amazed people that such a big voice came out of such a small girl. Btw-I see Bobbi Kristina's forehead lol

  • She's always had it. She's always been a STAR! she's always been THE VOICE!! she used it well until she left for heaven! Oh what great treasure God hides in earthen vessels - even in cracked-up earthen vessels like us. Thank You Lord for blessing humanity with a complete gift called WHITNEY HOUSTON!!!

  • That voice...that voice. WOW!!!!

  • Love this

  • she's look like a little girl nice

  • "You give me some of you, and I will give you all of me."

  • How lucky were the people in the audience to see this star in the making before most of the world did.

  • Lionel Richie actually did sing Love Will Find A Way on his Can't Slow Down Album, because I have a copy of it....Pllm30 was actually right who commented and said Lionel Richie did not record that song.

  • Baby Whitney.....you went to glory too soon. We miss you despite the troubles you had. Those that love you know you tried your best to over them.

  • Whitney looks so precious in this video, I miss her voice, thanks for posting every little bit helps !:-)

  • AWESOME Performance ...Wow...

  • This footage is great. Thanks for the upload! It's fantastic to see Whitney so close to the musicians, and so young!I miss her.

  • Lionel Richie didnt record this song, that was George Benson your thinking of on "The Greatest" soundtrack......

  • @bigchoc7274 type in Lionel Richie's name with this song title on youtube and listen. You will love it!

  • Though she did a wonderful job on this song with her beautiful melodies, I have to give it to Lionel Richie. I like his version a little better because it's soooo smooth, but Whitney did good.

  • the lyrics are are very special

  • i cant listen in mono

  • the band sucks...not up to her potential

  • No auto-tune...just auto-self, auto-talent, auto-awesome, and auto-amazing...

  • ironic isn't it...

  • Nice Woman, but bad music.

  • @Kuhstreichler I bet you don't believe a word that came out of your mouth

  • Whitney opening for Luther. Back in 1985, man I bet you that was a show too. Both are gone now. Thanks for the great music & memories Luther & Whitney. You made my teenage years a great soundtrack.

  • magnifique Whitney......

    repose en paix

  • talking about improvisation

  • nice

  • She was the only singer who was able to improvised songs and made it her own. She never sang a song the same way each delivery. She was a master of her craft! Truly miss her!

  • Everlasting Beauty Style Grace Ms. Whitney Houston

  • the sound is not that loud

  • The 18 dislikes came from people who dont know about music

  • NOTICE THERE IS ONLY 8 NOW, MAYBE 10 PPL CHANGED THEIR MINDS POST HER DEATH.. SOOO FAKE!! @kingranch2

  • Why does the sound not work on this one for me?

  • WOW! A legend singing two of my favorite songs! May her body rest and her spirit Live in Peace.

  • E' un paradosso, ma credetemi. Lei mi hai insegnato a interpretare.

    Miss you, Whitney...

  • "If I fail, if I succeed ... they can't take away my dignity" .... Amen Sweetheart. RIP.

  • What's wrong with me, I NEVER cry...but I can't stop crying :'(( I can't explain how heavy my heart is.

  • @Ranzalove You're not alone, i am the same way, i never cry at my own family funeral as i have a different way of looking at death. But now i can't stop crying. I was feeling much better after watching the funeral and how traditional it was. But today watching her live video in Africa, i cried even more than before. It almost feels like she's gone too soon, yet i'm happy she's in peace, then i'm mad cause i didn't get to see her sing in person. So many mix feelings, but glad i'm not the only one

  • petite...5' 10"...ok

  • Petit young Whitney! Good Byeeee dearest Nippy! :(

  • I notice how it is with some people that everytime her name is mentioned they feel a need to bring up her drug use. Why don't you judgmental hypocrites tell how she was one of those people who had a heat as big as her talent? She footed the entire medical bill for a little girl dying from colon cancer and never spoke of it. She helped people keep their homes, she taught other girls who wanted to be like her how to use their voice. Did you hear how she helped BeBe & CeCe when they were broke?

  • @67holmessharon Ive been having that same dilema.. they just dont understand. She was the sister I never had.

  • @luvinwhitney Amen!!! Whitney Houston a lady that touched the hearts of many..Lord y'all my heart hurts over this..when I first saw Whitney I said I want to sing like her n make my lips tremble lol but y'all i did..she is really special in my life, n now after every program I sing at The Greatest Love Of All will be my theme,n rememering Whitney..

  • can't stop crying alone over my idol Whitney,if i have a daughter someday,i would name it Whitney Houston..I miss u my idol and super love singer of all time..huhuhu... hugs and kisses for you...

  • Some people were born to sing, and the greatest voices always are beyond any musical genre but created a category all their own. Whitney did not turn a C&W ballad into pop or soul or gospel, she turned it into Whitney.

  • @MertonHayford There ya go!!

  • @MertonHayford shes totally an icon...

  • awww...she was only 22 yrs old. ...such a tall and thin beauty she was...talent galore

  • ditto, she was gifted. tragic.

  • 1:35 to 1:40 my ears are hearing some wonderful overtones.

  • OMG I was at this show. Location Houston Texas

  • no matter what it's evident that God blessed her voice & through it she blessed us. She gave us the greatest gift of all. Love & dedicated her life to the point of death. I will always love Whitney. We got to keep her alive.

  • pre bobby brown =fabulous!

  • Like one of the other comments here. I have never cried for anyone "famous" who has died before. But Whitney, Ive cried Many times, I was brought up on her music., Im 34 and seeing her as a young woman, that voice, that smile. being a mother, and mentor, I never knew her.She never knew me. She was a gift from God. My heart goes out to Cissy and bobbi. God bless Whitney, We Love u.

  • Her star didn't die - it rests forever, joyfully, with the other supernovas in the sky, illuminating our paths with her supreme beauty and talent. Forever remembered and adored, Ms Houston.

  • Even my partner does not get IT, oh well, Whitney touches a part of us. this is just the start of her career, stellar to watch a star being born! and sad to have watched a star die :-(

  • I am with you my friends, my husband just don't understand. I was up until 2:00 am this morning just looking at her video's.-- Just look at her style and such a Lady--- in all of her elegance. I just can't seem to let go !!!! bye bye little birdie--you are loved

  • Why do people say she was R&B, she wasn't; she was POP all the way until she tried the shoop, shoop, shoop silliness in "waiting to exhale".

  • @protochris Nope she was GOSPEL first recording was gospel Raised up in the church. her roots are deep rooted in gospel.

  • @BOOM7STAR She was definitely raised gospel, but I don't recall any of her hits being gospel, except maybe "Jesus Loves Me". Elvis started out Gospel too . They share alot of similiarities.

  • @protochris their are a few vids on utube where she is singing in the choir at new hope baptist church also their are some rare audio of her singing as a child in the church choir she lead many songs in the choir try using archives.com i personally use advanced search bar, Those who know and who are in the gospel industry know thats where her roots are. Start doing some research, Start with Cissy Houston Whitney mother.

  • I have never cried for anyone dead, not even family members like I have cried for Whitney Houston in the past week. I never knew her personally neither did I ever meet her in person but I connect with her in a way I can't even explain. Go rest in eternal peace our Queen. we love and miss you dearly

  • WOW....is all I can say. My sister, two of my buddies had seen Whitney when she came to my hometown in 1985 I believe and they recently shared how she was awesome even though she wasn't a star yet. This clip proves them right. She was truly gifted from God and because she's Cissy Houston's daughter she was also born with the gift her family members have all been born with, (family members Dee Dee Warwick, Dionne Warwick, her mom, aunts and uncles who part of the Drinkard Singers).

  • @Vincent50 Well said you know your history!!

  • She is adorable here. Whitney you taught me so much with your one of a kind voice..I know you are singing up a storm where you are now with your Daddy and Jesus. RIP Sweet Angel.

  • She was so classy! She had an amazing talent and she used it most of the time to praise the Lord. AMEN! She struggled so hard trying to escape drugs... She hated them. She coudn't escape. I'm sad.

  • wow... i was just listening to the Love Will Find a way song today... it's a hit originally from Lionel Richie

  • Arguably the best female R&B vocalist?

Bobby B was never worthy of this queen.

  • Thank you for uploading this!

It's interesting to hear how her interpretation of Greatest Love changed over the years.

    A magnificent talent has left.

She AND Luther gone now. . .this video is priceless at this point.

  • this song says it all, she lived as she believed..thats the gift that God gives us..if you fail or succeed do it your way...she knew the greatest thing inside her was love, and you caint take that away. God is good in all he does

she spoke his promise to her, people live with no fear God loves you and he keeps his word...love you whithey

  • She said toward the end, "you give me some of you, and I'll give you all of me...." Boy, did she ever!

  • my mommy was there

  • Little did they know......

  • @sunzhine1010

My late aunt went to this concert back in the day (she was a big Luther fan), I recall her coming back, talking about it to my late mother and some of my older cousins saying this girl Whitney can sang her ass off, gotta get her album. They knew she was going to be the next big thing. RIP to all.

  • @MrJuly1990ish rest in peace all, whitney was something else wasnt she ?

  • This is as pure as it can be....

  • THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL LOVE YOU WHITNEY

    TARIQ SHAIKH

    MALTA

  • You can hear the church choir in her and this song. Innocent, beautiful and pure!

  • early diva!

  • What an absolute treasure! Thank you for posting - it is helping the tears :-)

  • Wow I just cant stop crying over this lady, seem like she was a family member,my husband ask me if I was going crazy,No!!! but that woman just did something to my heart..R I P Whitney ..

  • @67holmessharon.. yes, yes, yes. I am so heartbroken. My heart aches. My Whitney is gone and it hurts so much. She was family from the time I heard her when I was little, no one has ever done it since

  • @67holmessharon... for me, Whitney will always be the number 1 singer of all times. Love you always Whitney. Gone but NEVER, EVER forgotten. Sad, to say but I really dont care for any other singer..

  • @67holmessharon... like I did with Whitney. She was my Michael Jackson, no one could do what she done, many have tried and doesnt compare.

  • @67holmessharon I feel the same way too. I've been watching Whitney videos on Youtube all week, and she feels as if she was a family member

  • @67holmessharon i feel the same way

  • @67holmessharon

My husband feels the same way. My sister and I have not stop crying since she passed.

I had to to calm myself down cause my 3 year old was picking up on my sadness. I am so happy she Loved the Lord. That in and of itself brings me a certain peacefulness.

  • @kimwig1217 Me too, I cannot seem to shake the SPIRIT of saddness! She left us much too so!

  • @Iliv2livagain for real I was ball'n watching her funeral. I'm so reminded of why I fell in love with her and why she's been an inspiration. Her faults don't even measure up to the amount of love and inspiration she has shown. Voice of honey soul!

  • @67holmessharon I understand exactly what you mean - same for me x

  • @67holmessharon...I know right! It's kinda just really hitting me. Wow.

  • @67holmessharon I feel the exact same way....we grew up together I'm 44 plus I have an addicted son so this touched me in so many ways it's unexplainable. Maybe my hormones are involved but I feel like I did after losing my Dad 2 years ago, that same emptiness and pain. I pray I don't lose my son to this awful disease of addiction, it's stealing the souls of beautiful people. The best way to honor this woman is to stand up and fight for tougher pharmaceutical guidelines, save a life!

  • @pinkyt67

I feel the same way. It's like I lost someone in my family.

  • Your hormones re outs whack bitch!! Kick your sons ass about doing drugs!!

  • @pinkyt67 you are right i pray you dont lose your child to this terrible disease of addiction.. to lose family like this is heartbreaking and i feel so much for her mother who not only has to live with this but also see her granddaughter and worry about her problems too.. heartbreaking . i used this song to see out a member of my own family recently . we all have to go eventually its the way we go that matters.. DIGNITY .. such an important element in our journey .. very important .

  • @67holmessharon

You aint alone, it's been a week since she passed and I still think about her constantly.

  • @67holmessharon

The same for me, i can t stop crying for her. I loved so much.

  • I agree, I feel the same way. Every time I see or hear a song or performance of her the words speak to me and I can't believe it....

  • @levinancy She gave her all, just like she says here. Amazing

  • Wow, back in her early days before she went super nova. Wow, certainly an American Icon!

  • What stage presence....

  • No words to describe it. Amazing how she said "You give some some of you, and I'll give you all of me." Our American Nightingale is gone, but we can hear and see the beautiful, memorable gifts she left behind. RIP Whitney Houston.

  • First time to see this & she was truly one of a kind. She really had her own style & such a passionate singer. Love you so much Whitney. You are free at last of all the hurt & pain. Rest in Peace -3

  • She was so vibrant back then!

  • Incredible, simply, Incredible

  • What a great find this video was! Whitney absolutely on fire and what a great session backing band too - love the slap funk base playing.

  • wow this is great that you have this i would love to see her at that age you have to start somewhere i'am glad she did this god will bless this and comfort the family at their time of loss.

  • WOW SHES THE GOAT FOREVEFR

  • I love this, because it documents her development as a singer. It's not perfect, by HER standards, it's a starting point for what was to come...phenomenal woman. RIP

  • Whitney tu me manques. Merci pour cette vidéo

  • Thanks for post this video....She is the best ever!

  • Luther tried to get Anita Baker to open for him, and she had a heart attack! No way was she going to open for him, she thought she was the main STar. Does anyone else remember the big blow up that happened in Dallas w/Luther and Anita?

  • I love that line...(@ 8:58)"you give me some of you and I will give you all of me" And she did. Wow she knew how to work a stage. Wish I could see the entire concert!

  • She sort of looks like vivica foxx here...loved Whitney's spirit! RIP

  • @onBACKWARDS WOW she does...

  • @onBACKWARDS I was thinking the same thing.

  • wonderful.

  • Two of the best singer.....What music are we left with? Thank you God for bringing the song bird into our lives for a season. Now she has flown home to be with you.... Rest Peacefully in the arms of our Savior Whitney.......

  • Shes so confident here :)

  • Who would ever think that in 2012 we'd be living in a world where both Luther and Whitney were no longer with us?

To paraphrase another fallen genius: What's going on?

  • @TroyConvers5000 well said :) im just glad i grew up with their music while they were here making it all :)

  • she's AWESOME

  • this is incredible i had no idea she brought it without the make up , without the fine tuning she was just raw talent..

  • excellent excellent she was a natural talent

  • What a voice, effortless power.

  • saw her 85 also boston remember donna

  • I have been a fan of yours since cassette days and you'll always be remembered fondly!

  • wow..way back n the day..great video

  • You are sooooo loved and will surely be missed! Unbelievable that you're no longer with us. God be with you and the family!

  • I been crying since 3:55 pm 2/11/2012 so sad

  • @born25miracle so have i,glad to know im not alone x

  • @born25miracle and I'm still crying...I almost cussed out my professor tonight because she brought up Whitney in a wrong way. I was always taught never speak ill of the dead.

  • @mrswilliamsforu You keep that philosophy, at least you have manners. It's obvious your professor wasn't raised properly.

  • @mrswilliamsforu like hitler. don't talk bad about hitler.

  • What a gift she has given to us all. I believe that we choose our life lessons before we manifest on this Earth. Whitney used her voice, her love and her light to help us tap into something awesome and infinitely good. Her struggles hurt <3 and we ached and felt a family member in pain. Her journey however, opened a door to show us see that we can get up, even after we fall. For us she saw the darkest depths and we who loved her stood on the shores of hell and shined. Because we love her <3

  • @perfectpeace222 WOW... WELL STATED! ! !

  • @perfectpeace222 I concur wholeheartedly!!! Further, to those reveling in the bliss of ignorance; crude, crass, careless & unkind comments; I pray you be awakened, aware & embrace the reality of eternity! Namaste...xo

  • @perfectpeace222 BEAUTIFUL!

  • Bye Whitney love your voice forever...
