When I first played this mission Fenix saying "throwing down with the best of them" had me howling in laughter though the first couple minutes. I had to pause the game, because my laughter had me in pain. xD
i remember the first time i did this level, and every time i'd come close to losing fenix i'd save, it got to a point where no matter what, i was losing him, had to restart the whole level and that took like an hour to do.....yeah i'm a noob....but i play it to have fun not to prove myself
you dont rly have to do anything in this level just make sunkens on ur perimeter and get a spire early for tanks to be destroyed easily wasnt rly that hard for me >.> thats how i passed took me 9 mins
damn... this is one of the things I really don't like about StarCraft. It's hard. I mean, it's a really hard game.
I tried this level, and 30 minutes in, I was unable to think because I was attacked in one place, I had to build defenses somewhere else, I was trying to make another base, I didn't have enough hydras, but needed overlords...
It's like, unless you have every hot-key memorized, you can't even play this game past the first 2 levels on most campaigns.
Yeah it seems really inaccessible to new players. Its funny because one of the biggest complaints from experienced players is how easy the single player is!
It just goes to show the massive skill curve in this game, you can be completely shit or completely godlike and anywhere in between.
well, that's just the thing. I'm NOT a new player. I've owned this game for... about 8 years, and I suck at it. Sure, I don't play it all the time, and I admit that I was pretty young when I first got it and not the most experienced gamer... but I know how to play this game. I know all about the tree for teching up, I know which units do what, and some hot-keys... but it's like unless you're perfect at everything, this will never be a pick-up-and-play game.
Oh... And I do it without any hot keys at all beyond the most basic /m/ for mutalisks, 'd' for drones... etc.
I've even completed most of the campaigns with my off hand (left) without any use from the right. I'm not showing off, I'm not a good player... Just saying that once you know how to macro up, you don't need as much micro to beat an AI... a human player is a completely different story though...
Most levels are quite manageable. My way of doing it on most is to just skimp on defenses early on, get the economy going really well, start placing a few static defenses and have about six to eight hatcheries.
Then pump out basic unit like hydralisks and zerglings, send speed overlords in also to help detect.
Most times, it's not even required to watch the battles. Just make and send units. Though I do micro the units at important times...
Hmmm... well, that's really different from the way I play. When I play, I always think about static defenses, and if they're not at 100%, then I focus my attention on them and stuff... and I ALWAYS watch my units when I advance. Like, I think in terms of a high-level group of 12 units or 2 groups of 12 units steam-rollering over an enemy base on their own when I attack... and then I'm attacked, and I get distracted... never built more than 3 hatcheries... maybe I should change how I play.
that strat is called turtling, and it is the classic noob way, heck even I used to do so in the beginning. It has to do with the fear of not knowing where the resources are located, enemies, and also of being attacked. gotta overcome that!
ahah this level is a challenge.....pay for many drones to get minerals faster, even if the cost of the drones needs more minerals than the minerals you have, or do few drones to be sure o have enough money, and not to lose money to make them (and as well no overlords) ?
more like "power overwhelming" and send all units to each Comand Center and get it to red and send the queen to infest them...for some reason i think if you infest all the command centers that game automaticaly gives you the 10,000 minerals you need
Weird... the enemy won't attack him! :S

infesting command centers is a optional objective i think infesting just gives u infested terrans next mission
hotstuffwatcher 1 year ago
Yeah, I remember this mission.
There were two ways to do this mission, as far as I knew:
1. Get all the minerals required.
2. Infest or destroy all Command Centers.
blackyoshi1230 1 year ago
@blackyoshi1230 you always have to get all minerals required, but the command center bit was optional. I forgot what they give you exactly though.
brainwasher9876 1 year ago
@brainwasher9876 in the next mission you get an infested command center, which is pretty useful, especially because the enemy has a ton of buildings.

this level is annoying. my north base got attacked by wraiths in the first 5 mins, nuked, then overun by marines.
lasted out till i got 9k minerals and got overrun, stacked sunken colonies at my last base then a battlecruiser and 5 wraiths attacked. Bullshit.

Yea but if you capture all the enemy command centers it'll make the 4th level easier, 5 infested terrans and infested CC's instead of zero.
