nah, i don't spend that much into this actually. i played only a few hours for these latest vids since it is just a competition and not my actual records.
Why do you let go of the accelerator every once in a while?

that's Momentum Trottle (MT), an advanced technique.
with that, the speed decrease rate is lower and you can keep more speed.
