I didn't grow up with the blues, Daddy's an old country fan (Cash, Snow, Reeves etc) & Mum's a classical freak. I listen to anything that turns me on. I'm thankful to my local college station for initiating to the music about 20 - 25 years ago, but I'm really thankful to every guy who has broken & stomped on my heart for allowing me to truly APPRECIATE the blues. Heart beats in time with the bass..

  • @johnfrostsr and you know it

  • Wayne Benette on guitar!

  • Sir Walter Raleigh used to play this every morning at 7:15 on WAMO in Pittsburgh PA. I couldn't leave for school until I got my Bobby Blue Bland fix. Still sounds great to me!

  • this is what the blues is all about.

  • Listened to this 45 years ago: sweet, soft, blue, and very soulful. Sheeeyit!!

  • Oh no. I can tell the difference between Ray Charles & Bobby "Blue" Bland. But I do sometimes confuse Bobby & BB King especially when they sing together.

  • salixfi

  • It is a real good song and it really fits the time that we are in now.

    From: ikerock

  • and even more, so sad........

  • true blues

  • It is nothing but the truth, I love it so much

  • yeah, so cool...

  • wow cool song * great music Ginger

  • I pull my beat up car in the garage at night turn off the lights put the seat back and listen to this cut over and over

  • now that is soul! allmemphismusic just reminded me of this man

  • I think Wayne Bennett's guitar playing is a "masterclass" although today it seems people need their blues guitar so turbocharged that it dominates rather than accentuates a performance. Everything about this recording is great, the rhythm section just nudging the song along while Bobby and Wayne rise and fall in sympathy with the core meaning of the lyrics. I am sure T-Bone loved this version.

  • OH Nick, You are sooo correct. That's what separates the Blues from rock'n'roll. I know T-Bone loved it too.

  • A friend of mine is going to back Johnny Jones next year. There's a clip-"Johnny Jones and the Gibson ES-345 The bend of the string" on YouTube. He talks of his time with Bobby Bland and how Bobby gave him a tape of Wayne Bennett and Mel Brown to stop him string bending like BB and to "play across the board" to get that T Bone style sound which was what Bobby demanded!

  • this is one of my all time favorite songs, it makes me wanna dance, kinda like dirty.:)

  • There is no other but Bobby B like he. Listen to that trademark voice so incompared.

  • i love this man...he's a great vocal stylist.

  • great blues song, Bobby blue bland is the man, king of the blues. this salute is for you mr. bland.

  • if you listen closely you can hear where stevie ray vaughn got A LOT of his influence.

  • i second that

  • My late father loved this man and what his music meant to the struggling southern Black community! I'm glad to have had the opportunity to know and cherish such great music! Live on, Bobby Blue! Live on!

  • Just my opinion, but he is the Godfather of the Blues.Love me some Bobby Blue.

  • Where does he live now? does he have a website? does he still tour? Love him.

  • So good it hurts!

  • I've been thinking about Bobby Bland lately. My parents played his songs while we traveled cross country. My fav song by Bobby is "Love To See You Smile". A beautiful song.

  • i saw bobby bland , with bb king and john lee hooker , at the Hammersmith odean in the early eighties . Bobby was great , liked the whitesnake version of a`int no love in the heart of the city , Bobby was briliant , hope the mick hucknall , brings bobby back in the spotlight

  • I've been wanting to know who played guitar for years. I thought it was T bone! Now I know. thanks!

  • Oh yes, his style is unmistakable.
