@aXcaliz Actually you didn't notice, the American car grossly anticipated a collision with the suicidal motorcycle rider, precisely putting the car into a safe position.
Currently the fastest charging battery pack can get you near full in 45 minutes. However many are still worried. There is a company called better place that has begun to try to combat this worried feeling of the fear of a dead car. They created a station to switch you dead battery with a fully charged one at the station for a price like filling a tank of gas. Also the hydrogen fuel cell is no where near ready to put faith in it.
Soon however the distance a battery can take you will increase further and further and be able to be used in different kinds of vehicles. The Tesla Model S intending to be released next year will offer a battery pack that will allow a drive to drive 360 miles. As battery technology increases the distance one will be able to travel will eventually surpass the wildest expectations that we put before it. One of the most prominent concerns about the car is how long you can drive.
However the acids used for effective current transfer are safe so long as they remain within the battery pack. The Tesla uses a system called Current Interrupt Device (CID) in which each of the 2,600 sections has an ability to stop it function and seal it off if any malfunctions occur. Each individual cell can be removed and replaced and the battery acid from the faulty cell to be reused. Second of all the commercial electric car is fairly new and battery technology hasn't advanced very far.
I see to many people seeming so angry at the idea of an electric car being used in the future. Being a proud owner of a 2011 Tesla Roadster Sport and one waiting for the Tesla Model S signature series the cars made by Tesla are great cars with many benefits over a normal combustion engine car. First off @b4igetu you don;t seem to know anything about battery technology. Standard voltaic cells use battery acid as a media to conduct charge such as the lithium ion battery in which the Tesla uses.
People that are saying electric cars are a new thing should also know that all constructuon trucks such as the 30 foot high dump trucks , and all rail road trains have run off electric since the 90s. They have gas generators that power it ( being diesel fuel) simply because electric cars can be so much cheaper. You do not need a trasnmission and its simply more efficiant
This is good for if you have solar panels on your house you can power your house and also charge your Tesla with 100% natural electricity. I also heard that with the extra electricity you may make you can sell it to the electricity company near you. So you go green and make money.
@leaualorin Besides you can argue how green the car itself is, but do you have any idea how the batteries are created? How they travel 1000s of miles to be created, how bad the acids in the batteries are for the environment. It has already been established that electric cars isn't the way to go. Hydrogen fuel cell is much smarter.
@leaualorin Technology is not yet good enough to be completely dependent on electricity. You can spout all the numbers you want, but it doesn't mean anything until the technology is ready. Charging a Tesla from a conventional outlet takes 2 days. It has a range of 240 miles. Which means that a trip to a city north of me 300 miles away would take 3 days instead of 1. That to me is stepping back in time.
@Shiqna1 The Tesla also wasn't ripping the shit out of the tires. It's just tire smoke. Nothing against the Tesla though, I really think that is a neat little car.

to tell you how good of a product tesla has cranked out, flaws and all Toyota has just put in a ton of cash in to the company, electric is the future weather you like it or not, and come on the tesla is sweet instant torque, and no gas station oh ya to hell with OPEC!!!!! cut you production who give a @#$% as soon as we can get some well priced electric cars :).
And even if it did only achieve 55 miles, it would be wise to keep an eye on one of the two battery gauges in the car (one on the instrument cluster's LCD, the other on the touchscreen). It's the same as watching the fuel gauge in a gas-powered car. By the way, Hydrogen is a backup plan for the oil companies when the oil runs out. With hydrogen, you go from electric to hydrogen, then back to electric. Cut out the middle man, increase efficiency, and save money by just going pure electric.
Top Gear absolutely faked the dead battery. If you watch the video closely, you can see his foot jump off of the pedal to kick the regen in. Also, while he's explaining where the electricity comes from, the door chime and the touchscreen are on. He must have also pulled the fuse on the charging port's LED ring (or disabled it some other way). As for the second car overheating, the motor fan must not have worked at all because that's the only Tesla I've ever heard of overheating.

You dont have to be rude, and when i say "oil" i mean oil as a fuel (because crude oil is where we get our gasoline from), not a lubricant. Did you really think that the topic of "oil" running out was big because if it did we wouldnt have something to lubricate our engines with? Come on. Now call me a genius, genius.
Oil is not the same as fuel or gas genius. You need oil to lubricate the pistons in a combustion engine or it will lock up in no time flat. No oil = no go for combustion engines.
@Zeroto90 this is true. so the U.S. used corn to make ethanol... another energy intensive process, and in turn managed to almost double world food prices. where as you can just plug an electric car in with much less global impact.

What was that emforty, gasoline cars are obsolete?? Peak oil?? no a complete misconception. It is known within certain circles that it is manufactured , the earth is producing more oil and gas than is being used now believe it or not. It is a natural process, the more you take the more it produces to balance itself. Study the Bees and the way they produce honey and you will understand.
are u fucking retarded? the earth does not produce more oil to balance the amount thats being depleted. while the earth does produce oil its a process that takes thousands and thousands of years. believing that the earth produces oil at a rate dependent on the oil consumption of man is moronic
@laxraider I'm pretty sure it takes on the order of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years. Pretty crazy that we use the remains of our ancestors as fuel. The ancients would be pissed.
@laxraider whats even more ironic is why we don't all have electric cars!!!! the technology has been here since the 40's. yet we still choose to spend 4 dollars a gallon on gas.
We've been waiting on hydrogen for 30 years or more, every decade it's ten years away. Its just adding another link to the chain, using electricity to make fuel
Subject: "Tesla Roadster drifts around corner with Mercedes Mclaren SLR, Ferrari F430, 1963 Corvette Stingray and Yamaha Motorcycle on the streets of L.A."
I didn't see a Stingray drifting(althought the bike did lol). I saw a Stingray losing control.
haha that's cuz stingrays are for straight lines. still love those cars- and the way that car spun out then just revved up and whipped around its like it was saying "WTF RIGHT TURN,dammit! son of a....ahhhhh power" lol
That's from project gotham racing 4 it was a scene at the beginning, though the one in the game was animated. but they both feature the exact same cars, and they all do the same thing in both game and this.
this was probably done by the makers of the game, as you can see the cement blocks are up like in the game. or extremely realistic animating.
mmmm yea the sting ray is a great rival for 21st century cutting edge supercars like the F430, SLR and Tesla Roadster, with stuff like Leaf springs. It spun because it's rubbish by tosay's standards, and never was a rival for european cars in anything except a drag race
that corvette is a piece of shit and shouldn't be there. who cares if its fast in a strait line, it still gets smoked by all the cars above in both a strait line and in the twistys. muscle cars should never be on a race track unless its a huge oval call nascar... which isnt a real race
Honestly, the Tesla car was drving fine, the driver avoided the black classic car that stalled midway in a spin, and also dodged the biker, and naviagated past the wall.
I dont think the Vette lacks HP, it lacks the balance and handling of the others. if they were in a 1/4 mile, I think that vette would take all but maybe the bike.
I'm not sure about it's quarter mile, but I'll guarantee you the Tesla is quicker off the line than the Corvette. Electric motors make peak torque at any RPM.
I'd imagine the Tesla is quicker than the Vette over any distance.
Also the electric car isnt that great on a track. My friend bought one a while ago so i set up a race on a track to which I brought my BMW M5. Ive raced against my friend before on the same track (Mostly in his Ferrari 430) and was dissipointed how badly it actually was. Was very good at low speed and start off acceleration but was usless at everything else. Has anyone else seen a video on the preformance cause i would just like to confirm this.
baltimore80, I think that would have to do more with the driver than the car... The fact it is electric means it has greatest torque at 0 rpm, so while most car's dyne curve ramp-up or have lag, this has full power from the moment your foot hits the pedal.
yea even if there werent any new skid marks that doesnt mean anything, u can skid and it not leave any marks, idk where u r gettin this is friggin fake
It might have been the turn plus it was crowded with the other vehicles and Corvette was in front of it. I would love to see the entire race. The Mercedes was crap as well. I like the different classes racing though regardless.
now if you combine this cars electric setup with a tesla electric tower(wardenclyffe), you will not have to charge it or pay anything. the tower releases harmless plasma waves which send large energy transfers without any health problems, to get the energy you put the antenna on the car and bam, more than enough energy to run that electric motor!!!!im serious, i put some videos of his patents, its an awesome system.
DId you really just say that? They look exactly the fucking same! THe only thing different are the components, (which you cant see) under the hood! what do you even mean? You can make a car look however you want regardless of the power source dumb dumb
hahahahah the corvette

The video is just for a commercial for PGR4. It wasn't meant to be any kind of a race. It's all show for the camera.

this proves that the 100 year old dinosaur technology of belchy, smokey, oil, greasy, stinky, is obsolete
coal trains are obsolete and so are gasoline cars get over it !

This video proves that:
1. Stringrays can't handle.
2. Bikes are gay.
3. Stingray drivers are dickheads who can't drive and compensate for this (and for their short dicks) by burning rubber.

ApexIXMR 3 years ago 5
haha that's cuz stingrays are for straight lines. still love those cars- and the way that car spun out then just revved up and whipped around its like it was saying "WTF RIGHT TURN,dammit! son of a....ahhhhh power" lol
ironenginelover 3 years ago
ive seen a vid just like this where an F430 crashes into a wall. can't find it now tho
ClaudioBarbato 3 years ago
Fook me, look at that electric car - Tesla roadster accelerate, outperforming the 'mah. :)
Long live Tesla's dream.

ROFL THE STINGRAY ATE IT!
mrsugiyama 3 years ago
Hahaha the 'vette got smoked. lol
Edward1589 3 years ago 2
That's from project gotham racing 4 it was a scene at the beginning, though the one in the game was animated. but they both feature the exact same cars, and they all do the same thing in both game and this.
this was probably done by the makers of the game, as you can see the cement blocks are up like in the game. or extremely realistic animating.

lol @ the old vette

where was this so cool
kevin1032v 3 years ago
wow.. what a bunch of bad drivers. the corvette handles great. lol
jdmcivic2nr 3 years ago
mmmm yea the sting ray is a great rival for 21st century cutting edge supercars like the F430, SLR and Tesla Roadster, with stuff like Leaf springs. It spun because it's rubbish by tosay's standards, and never was a rival for european cars in anything except a drag race
ClaudioBarbato 3 years ago 2
Are you sure that's a McLaren? Looks like a chrysler crossfire to me.

Its a Mercedes McLaren, look it up its bad ass :)

JiS01 3 years ago 2
that corvette is a piece of shit and shouldn't be there. who cares if its fast in a strait line, it still gets smoked by all the cars above in both a strait line and in the twistys. muscle cars should never be on a race track unless its a huge oval call nascar... which isnt a real race
pixelsquad 3 years ago 4
get bent...
DaBluedude100 3 years ago
it looks like a real life project gotham. reminds you of how silly the game is.
stiqman 3 years ago
Honestly, the Tesla car was drving fine, the driver avoided the black classic car that stalled midway in a spin, and also dodged the biker, and naviagated past the wall.
I call that - aware driving.

the vette didnt even put opposite lock on when it spun. clearly staged
achilles1486732 3 years ago
in case you guys dont know this is staged for a commercial
elpelaodebayamon 3 years ago 5
Its not a race, it is from the Project Gotham commercial. SOOOOOO, I am going to take a WILD guess and say that it was all staged! lol
towb33 3 years ago 4
the first thing went to my mind was Project Gotham when I saw this, specially the burning rubber Corvette. Maybe is not such a wild guess after all.
X556 3 years ago
lol, the vette is an awesome classic....but definitely in the wrong kind of race with those guys
jfinan71 3 years ago 2
not unless it's the 427 vette, that did a 12 second quarter mile stock back in the 60's:)
elpelaodebayamon 3 years ago
I dont think the Vette lacks HP, it lacks the balance and handling of the others. if they were in a 1/4 mile, I think that vette would take all but maybe the bike.
jfinan71 3 years ago
I'm not sure about it's quarter mile, but I'll guarantee you the Tesla is quicker off the line than the Corvette. Electric motors make peak torque at any RPM.
I'd imagine the Tesla is quicker than the Vette over any distance.
jgysland 3 years ago 3
Top speed against a Vette i would guess not.
Has anyone else seen a video on the preformance cause i would just like to confirm this.
adama02673 3 years ago
The 0 to 60 speed counts for very little with such a fat ass to drag around a corner.

What the hell kind of line was the R1 taking?
stokesoz 3 years ago
baltimore80, I think that would have to do more with the driver than the car... The fact it is electric means it has greatest torque at 0 rpm, so while most car's dyne curve ramp-up or have lag, this has full power from the moment your foot hits the pedal.
DJ45DigiScientist 3 years ago
ooh that was crap and the motorcycle guy haha
sonofkikkoman 3 years ago
too bad the ferrari smoked them all and the tesla only beat a 40 yr old design
baltimore80 3 years ago
how can it catch the F430 and the SLR if that fuckin' 40 year old shit oversteers?

the Tesla was holding back big time
maoristereo 3 years ago
It might have been the turn plus it was crowded with the other vehicles and Corvette was in front of it. I would love to see the entire race. The Mercedes was crap as well. I like the different classes racing though regardless.

mezimeen 3 years ago 6
now if you combine this cars electric setup with a tesla electric tower(wardenclyffe), you will not have to charge it or pay anything. the tower releases harmless plasma waves which send large energy transfers without any health problems, to get the energy you put the antenna on the car and bam, more than enough energy to run that electric motor!!!!im serious, i put some videos of his patents, its an awesome system.

Combustion based cars just look dumb. Always thought they did.
a1mint 3 years ago
DId you really just say that? They look exactly the fucking same! THe only thing different are the components, (which you cant see) under the hood! what do you even mean? You can make a car look however you want regardless of the power source dumb dumb
stlmjl02 3 years ago
I didn't mean physically "look". "Look" can refer to how a situation looks like. To me, a combustion engine looks like a stupid thing to do, to me.
Next time, I'll use the word "is" or "are". Combustion based cars just are dumb.
Happy?
