i'm planning to get myself the same exact guitar, JEM 555, my only concern is does this guitar stay in tune when you use the floydrose? i had RG series with floating tremolo and keeping it in tune was real pain in the ass. can you confirm this to me please?

@RandyFoxKiller you're an idiot. The jem555 is made in the same plant as the 7v. The ONLY differences are the bridge and neck inlays. The rest is the same, even the electronics. Swapping the bridge out is a 200 dollar fix at most. and who cares that you are missing out on 12 frets of inlay. Whoopie doo. You arent spending 2500 on that guitar.
@MrXorHomer they arent even made in the same country. I own a couple jems and my 555 is almost as good as the 7v. I swapped the bridge out and it plays the same. the only way I could tell, is by 1) the neck and 2) the weight. The 7v is weightless! the cheaper ones have some heft.

Initially, I didn't like your video in the early part, but it became interesting at the Sound Test part... nice transition in between vai and your playing. I mean your playing doesn't sound really good, but an interesting switch. I used to own this model, it's crappy. Mine was the earlier batch with lo trs bridge. my 555 retired with a big irrepairable crack on the body where the tremolo is supposed to sit. anyways, nice video again!
It's not the axe that makes the difference. It's the guy playing it. The 555 is still a well-built guitar. Just because it's made in Korea doesn't make it a piece of shit. And for those who think it's an RG with a handle, it's not. The neck dimensions are the same as the Jem, and the same DiMarzio Evos are used for the pickups. The only weak point in the guitar is the tremolo system, which can easily be replaced with a Schaller Floyd Rose. It's still a good guitar.
@savannahalex that not really a weak point since the EDGE 3 trem is just as good as a schaller without flutter.
This guitar is the closest Ive seen to perfection. Its the best looking guitar, its good at just about every genre, and its soundd is orgasmic. The only guitar Id ever shell out more than 1-2 grand for.
@rampage222555 the edge 3 is shocking, it breaks after about 1 month of playing (mine did, and so have 3 of my friends). Plus the quality of wood is..not the best to say the least, have you seen the videos on youtube where the body has cracked? not good :s

personally, I'd suggest you in to investing in the Jem505 because of the better tremolo (Original Edge) because after a while the EdgeIII starts losing it's tuning stability. Then all you need to do is slap in some Evolution pick ups then you got a pretty amazing guitar.
Hey i have a question. when you tune your string on your jem does the floy change as well and do it get out of tune if you use the floy often. becaues im thinking of getting a jem.
It's such a good guitar, I have no regrets. The only time tuning with the floyd becomes tricky is if you change the gauge of your strings. Best thing I could suggest is to have the shop set it up with your favoured range so retune is much easier when you give it a go for the first time.
I've never had a problem with the tuning. if you let the strings settle before fixing them in place. It seems to need restringing before it out goes out of tune lol. Great guitar, definately buy one
the jem's gonna do whatever sound you want it to make, the hellraiser will most likely work awesome with distortion, but the cleans kind of suck, i know cause i actually own both lol, altough i have the 777 so i don't really know about the 555 anyways, hope i helped
ya its got a similar style to the floyd, their litteral the same, but if you want to play like kirk, get his signature guitar, its much better suited for shredding and metal all together or a esp/ltd or jackson , or schecter for metal,

i really dont think those small little things should be a problem if your aiming to be a professional guitarist.
then again i dont know how much these lower end models are but if i was dropping alot of green i would understand what your saying but if thats the case of going full price of the actual jems i would rather send in a custom order and create something of my own.
That will buy you a custom built guitar if you request quotes from independent luthiers.
Rusty Cooley's Signature model has the deeper cut horn pocket though is bolt on. I've had a few neck throughs that don't have heals that I milled the neck pocket deeper on. $200 guitars that played like a dream.
If you play on the scale of Vai, or beyond such as myself, those features are hard to live without.

It takes me about 15mins to restring, retune and get the action just right. When I first got mine it was closer to 30 but practice makes perfect.

it changes, it uses an edge 3 like my guitar(i have an ibanez rg) it hasn't a fixed bridge, it's a floating tremolo

the jem's gonna do whatever sound you want it to make, the hellraiser will most likely work awesome with distortion, but the cleans kind of suck, i know cause i actually own both lol, altough i have the 777 so i don't really know about the 555 anyways, hope i helped

edge trems stay in tune better, theyre famous for that, and Ibanez Jems can generally be used for any style, except acoustic lol

because it's an electric guitar.. well i suppose you could use an acoustic modeller.... but they dont really sound as good as the real thing

ya its got a similar style to the floyd, their litteral the same, but if you want to play like kirk, get his signature guitar, its much better suited for shredding and metal all together or a esp/ltd or jackson , or schecter for metal,

I'm not crapping on your choice but the design still has the industry standard flaws as many of us see them.
The horn pocket isn't deep enough for truly liberal access to the last 4 frets or so. I like to be able to hit arpeggios on them.
It has a neck heel. I mean step up to set necks or neck through as they sound better, perform better and you can completely eliminate the neck heel.
I just see it as a ridiculous amount of money for a guitar with some major short comings.

i really dont think those small little things should be a problem if your aiming to be a professional guitarist.
then again i dont know how much these lower end models are but if i was dropping alot of green i would understand what your saying but if thats the case of going full price of the actual jems i would rather send in a custom order and create something of my own.

That will buy you a custom built guitar if you request quotes from independent luthiers.
Rusty Cooley's Signature model has the deeper cut horn pocket though is bolt on. I've had a few neck throughs that don't have heals that I milled the neck pocket deeper on. $200 guitars that played like a dream.
If you play on the scale of Vai, or beyond such as myself, those features are hard to live without.
