what editing suite are you using? i only have pinnacle studio 9, but thankfully it allows transparent Tiff's, so i made a gradient overlay in photoshop like you did. and it works great!
I used Premier Pro CS3, though if I remember correctly I used a PNG image rather than a TIFF, though I think TIFF would work just as well. As long as there is some sort of transparency it should do good.
yeah it does; i tried it with some random footage i had, and decreased the saturation and upped the contrast. Im stuck with Pinnacle 9 until i can afford something better...
I would have lowered the opacity of the vignette but the colors look nice

So simple, yet so brilliant. Thanks for putting in a helpful description - I'm going to try and recreate something similar. Cheers

I've just tried that, minutes after watching this video, but there's something i don't get.
I can't get the right pixel ratio, i ask Photoshop to create an image, 720x576, widescreen, and select the right Pixel (1,422) Proportion
but as i import it on Premiere Pro 2, it still sees it as a 4:3 image. and on the timeline, it shows as a 4:3 image. Weird.

DAMN HELL YOU CRAZY MOTHER... YOU'RE GREAT
i've been trying to recreate the vignetting Top Gear effect and i NEVER figured out how to make it.. GREAT!!!

how do you make the transparent vignette?

its just enhanced contrast and a circular gradient essentially, but looks great!

Contrast bumped up, saturation decreased, and made a gradient overlay in Photoshop to put over the video. So pretty much nailed it. Haha.
My "STLSubaru Winter Meet" video also uses the same effects as well as "STLSubaru Commercial" so be sure to check those out too!
Thanks for the Comments!

Sometimes a slight color correction/hue change will also make the footage really stand out.

TIP: Put the camera on the ground next to where you will be driving so it gets a really close shot of the wheel. :)
