Good casting all in all! Only one that provides any concern would be Dark Marik, he kinda lacks that "crazy" sense that his original VA had, but I can deal with it, and these are just auditions. Looking forward to more of your dub, folks!

All of these voices sound like other voices. Ryou sounds like Near from Death Note. Marik could do an easy Axel from Kingdom Hearts, Yami sounds like another Yu-Gi-Oh character from 5 Ds, etc.
Wow. I cannot wait to hear more of GameBuddy's role as Yami Yugi in action. I swear he almost sounds like Johnny Yong Bosch! (For those of you not in the know, Johnny Yong Bosch is the english dub VA for Vash the Stampede, Kurosaki Ichigo, and Lelouch Lamperouge, just to name a few.)
It's no Dan Green, but it approximates another great VA who I would say is on the same level as Green. I heartily approve of this casting!

I absolutely love Malik's voice(s), and the rest are great! The only thing is, though I respect your desire to keep the voices similar to their Japanese counterparts, I feel Bakura really should have a male voice. True, though since most English words can't be easily pronounced by Japanese, they are often divided into syllabic parts that are more common to Japanese. Some examples: Jump = jam-pu, Attack: Ah-Tak-ku, and so on. Since the letter "I" in Japanese is pronounced "ee", "Isis" would probably be pronounced in Japanese like "Ee-see-szu" or "Ishizu". I agree that Dark Bakura's voice is a bit too feminine. But if AllyKatAVR got her voice a bit higher and more masculine for him, she'd sound just like an English version of his original voice, which would be very, very cool. I'd actually find it weirder for him to have a deep voice like in 4Kids.
One thing...I don't mean to be rude, but I HAVE to pick at your pronunciation of Malik. Your voice actors keep saying it like 'Mah-leek', which...quite frankly doesn't make sense. The Japanese pronunciation is 'Mah-lik', while the Egyptian Arabic pronunciation is 'Meh-lik'. Your overemphasizing the second syllable where you should actually be placing just a bit more on the first.

Hmm....honestly, I'm not that happy with Bakura's voice. It's very intensely feminine here, and doesn't really reach those high, but still masculine tones that Matsumoto Rica was very good at dealing with for Bakura. While voicing Bakura, especially in Memory Arc, her voice isn't readily identifiable as female- I was quite surprised to find out about it. I do like the "brat" comment, though; keeps an aspect of his regard for others that 4Kids missed.
I was trembling when Yami Malik came on, OmegaRS's voice just seriously makes me want to hide. And I can finally take Malik seriously again after the 4Kids dub...it was odd hearing him without that whiny, high pitched voice they gave him. XD
O GOD, ALLYKATAVR, YOUR VOICES ARE AWESOME! Ryou sounds adorable beyond compare, and you perfected Yami Bakura's voice perfectly, a replica of Rica Matsumuto's. Love the laugh ^_^
I guess you want to base it a great deal off the Japanese dubs but Bakura's voice just sounds weird for me every time. He may look effeminate but he should have atleast a touch of masculinity in his voice.

I really like Bakura's voice. I agree that it should be done by a woman (according to the jap dubs). Not a big fan of Yami's though. It's too harsh- reminds me of the 4kids version. Apparently Dan Green wanted to tone it down, but even he wasn't allowed to. It needs to be more thoughtful, like in the Jap eps. Yami no Bakura's laugh is awsome :3. I also agree with many other.. Malik's voice is HOT! BOTH OF THEM! *dies*. Rishid and Ishizu's voices are awsome too, nice and rustic.

I know it's wrong, but I actually liked Bakura's ridiculous accent in the dub. I'm limey myself, so I know it was completely over the top, but he still pulled it off. I don't think these voices succesfully portray either side of his character, as I find them neither endearing nor menacing. Which is sad because he's my favourite character.
Nevertheless I think you people do an excellent job, and you have my admiration and support. Nice work.
both of Mariks Voices were extremely sexy. me loves it ^^b though I didn't Bakura's voices because u could instantly tell it an actual girl, I did love the emotion she put into it. I even shivered at yami Bakura's intro. and Yami Yugi was ok, but I though there could have been better. Oh well, nice work anyway, on a whole I thought it was awesome. Ur first episode was also extremely good.
I think it was kind of stupid to make Yami Bakura a woman, even regular bakura.
While it's true in Japan women tend to play men a lot, they do this to give frail / womenly / young male characters a softer voice, but they still sound like a Japanese man, English women don't give off the same effect, it would most likely be better to have a soft mail voice for Regular Bakura, and some deeper voice for Yami Bakura.
The Bart quote i believe was pointed at you as a reference that Bart is voiced by Nancy Cartwright. Basically he's saying 'look a western famous sitcom character who 90% of the world believes is voice by a male'.

So did the Japanese voice actress for bakura. lol It's like when you're listening to a song and you think you know what it says, and you believe that's what it says, then you look up the lyrics and it says something different, you listen to the songs and suddenly hear the right lyrics. The main reason it sounds like a girl to everyone is because we all knew it was a girl from the get-go.

My only issues with your dubbing are Yami Bakura's voice (and while I understand the reasoning, it still doesn't match him) and the way you pronounce the names of some of the characters (Malik for instance)
While we caved and went with Malick instead of the proper Maleek, we originally went with Maleek because that's what it's supposed to be. The original Arabic name Malik is pronounced that way.
I know that Malik's name is pronounced that way, but I think it kind of sounds out of place in the English language (or it might be that I'm used to "Malick" more than "Maleek")
I love how Yami Yuugi sounds quietly sinister/Vegeta-ish as opposed to Dan Green's large ham (love the guy, but really). Either way, aces job, keep it up, can't wait to see more from you.
One important misconception people have about Ishizu's naming is that it actually IS "Ishizu" in the Japanese version. The reason is because in the Memory World arc, there actually IS a character named "Isis", and her name is pronounced as "Isis" rather than "Ishizu" in the Japanese version. Of course, there is more than one way to pronounce "Isis" in Japanese so maybe they're both called Isis, idk.

I liked the original voices a lot better than these. The kind of voices you provide for this anime has similiar features like "Naruto", which isn't a compliment.
Atleast that's my opinion, some people like these kinds of dubs, where the characters say stuff that normal english speaking wouldn't say in a real conversation.

I believe the Japanese pronounce L's as an R sound, so usually translations account for this by replacing L's in names with R's. Such as Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's, "Luka" and "Luna" in the dub are "Ruka" and "Rua" in the original Japanese episodes.
And yes, I'm American, but I've also done my research. I love this show, and I'm just excited to get English voices on the original stuff.
Erm...actually, it's not that Japanese Ls are Rs, it's that there is no L or R in Japanese. The sound, usually written with an R, is kind of an L/R hybrid. Therefore, translators have to make a choice as to what sounds less awkward if the word isn't a Japanese work. Hence the Malik/Marik controversy.
I believe it. That's just how it was explained to me, and it made sense given the differences we see/hear and such. I remember years ago I met a Japanese exchange student who pronounced English L's as R's and I was told it was because the sound of L didn't exist in the language.
FYI the name Malik did come first. When the japanese manga was out, but not yet translated, and the anime for battle city hadn't been dubbed yet, his name among the fans was Malik as they assumed that's what his name would be. Yes, it is now marik, but there are those who look back fondly upon it, or use it as an in joke, which, i suppose, you fell for.
I'm sick of everyone complaining about the English dub. It's better than the Japanese version because A:It's in English which I-and most of you-speak. And B:It's more interesting. This is a show with lots of talking. About cards. The unique voices makes it less monotonous. And C:(This is adressed to you guys) Boys shouldn't be given female voices! Bakura sounds like a transvestite or a eunuch, and if you insist on being accurate to the already innaccurate anime-He's voiced by a GUY in Season 0.
B: I'm all for corny dialogue, but not at the expense of real story-telling.
C: That was a completely different company that made season 0. Yami no Yuugi was voiced by a woman in Season 0 but was done by a guy in the regular series.

this is really good, guys. I love the choices. My favorite is probably Malik and Ishtar =] my one thing I'd say is Ryou and Bakura sound a little too much alike. Its a really good choice, but try making a little bit more distinctivness, like making Bakura sound a bit more demonic.

Atem sounds SO so so angry. Even during the calm\cool lines he still sounds pissed. Atem is so calm and cool most of the time, please try to tone some of the gruffness down a bit? I think it would pump the voice up to a full 10 out of 10.

I guess you want to base it a great deal off the Japanese dubs but Bakura's voice just sounds weird for me every time. He may look effeminate but he should have atleast a touch of masculinity in his voice.
Just my opinion and I am sure many disagree. Hope all goes well for the next episode.

I really like Bakura's voice. I agree that it should be done by a woman (according to the jap dubs). Not a big fan of Yami's though. It's too harsh- reminds me of the 4kids version. Apparently Dan Green wanted to tone it down, but even he wasn't allowed to. It needs to be more thoughtful, like in the Jap eps. Yami no Bakura's laugh is awsome :3. I also agree with many other.. Malik's voice is HOT! BOTH OF THEM! *dies*. Rishid and Ishizu's voices are awsome too, nice and rustic.

I know it's wrong, but I actually liked Bakura's ridiculous accent in the dub. I'm limey myself, so I know it was completely over the top, but he still pulled it off. I don't think these voices succesfully portray either side of his character, as I find them neither endearing nor menacing. Which is sad because he's my favourite character.
Nevertheless I think you people do an excellent job, and you have my admiration and support. Nice work.

both of Mariks Voices were extremely sexy. me loves it ^^b though I didn't Bakura's voices because u could instantly tell it an actual girl, I did love the emotion she put into it. I even shivered at yami Bakura's intro. and Yami Yugi was ok, but I though there could have been better. Oh well, nice work anyway, on a whole I thought it was awesome. Ur first episode was also extremely good.

I think it was kind of stupid to make Yami Bakura a woman, even regular bakura.
While it's true in Japan women tend to play men a lot, they do this to give frail / womenly / young male characters a softer voice, but they still sound like a Japanese man, English women don't give off the same effect, it would most likely be better to have a soft mail voice for Regular Bakura, and some deeper voice for Yami Bakura.

The Bart quote i believe was pointed at you as a reference that Bart is voiced by Nancy Cartwright. Basically he's saying 'look a western famous sitcom character who 90% of the world believes is voice by a male'.

So did the Japanese voice actress for bakura. lol It's like when you're listening to a song and you think you know what it says, and you believe that's what it says, then you look up the lyrics and it says something different, you listen to the songs and suddenly hear the right lyrics. The main reason it sounds like a girl to everyone is because we all knew it was a girl from the get-go.

I just recorded myself doing the first line they used for Yami no Bakura,and it kinda sounds like Omega did it.But with the ending botched.
How old is Haga supposed to be?I can overlook the voice if he's young enough.Other than that(and Ryou needing to speek slower,I guess;whatever others think),I like the choices.

I really like Malik and Yami Malik's voice. Isis and Rashid's voice were great also.
I dislike Bakura/Yami Bakura's voice. It's too...womanly. I don't like in in Japanese and it looks like I will not like it in English. I like BOY Bakura (he is male after all)...eh, just my opinion.
Yami Yugi...I don't know. It's not bad, that's for sure. I guess I'll have to listen to him more.

My only issues with your dubbing are Yami Bakura's voice (and while I understand the reasoning, it still doesn't match him) and the way you pronounce the names of some of the characters (Malik for instance)

While we caved and went with Malick instead of the proper Maleek, we originally went with Maleek because that's what it's supposed to be. The original Arabic name Malik is pronounced that way.

4kids actually did a much much better job with Bakura than this. Just 'cause he looks effeminate doesn't mean his voice needs to be as well.
And he looks very masculine in the end with his black coat, the whole british thing worked well.

He didn't, Yami no Bakura was controlling him when he did. When he was free of Yami Bakura the Theif king's voice went back to normal.

One important misconception people have about Ishizu's naming is that it actually IS "Ishizu" in the Japanese version. The reason is because in the Memory World arc, there actually IS a character named "Isis", and her name is pronounced as "Isis" rather than "Ishizu" in the Japanese version. Of course, there is more than one way to pronounce "Isis" in Japanese so maybe they're both called Isis, idk.

I liked the original voices a lot better than these. The kind of voices you provide for this anime has similiar features like "Naruto", which isn't a compliment.
Atleast that's my opinion, some people like these kinds of dubs, where the characters say stuff that normal english speaking wouldn't say in a real conversation.
It's so hard to explain, but there's big flaws in this dub :[ If I had any grammar or spelling mistakes, my bad.

And Malik!? Uh-huh, that gets old,too. In the manga it's Marik with an R. An R. I don't know if they changed anything when they dubbed the comics, but its still more accurate to Kazuki Takahashi's work than the anime. IN ANY COUNTRY.
And just so you know, I'm mad about American fans who think they're Japanese, not at your idea. I think its great. That's why I'm venting here instead of one of your episodes.

I believe the Japanese pronounce L's as an R sound, so usually translations account for this by replacing L's in names with R's. Such as Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's, "Luka" and "Luna" in the dub are "Ruka" and "Rua" in the original Japanese episodes.
And yes, I'm American, but I've also done my research. I love this show, and I'm just excited to get English voices on the original stuff.

Erm...actually, it's not that Japanese Ls are Rs, it's that there is no L or R in Japanese. The sound, usually written with an R, is kind of an L/R hybrid. Therefore, translators have to make a choice as to what sounds less awkward if the word isn't a Japanese work. Hence the Malik/Marik controversy.

I believe it. That's just how it was explained to me, and it made sense given the differences we see/hear and such. I remember years ago I met a Japanese exchange student who pronounced English L's as R's and I was told it was because the sound of L didn't exist in the language.

FYI the name Malik did come first. When the japanese manga was out, but not yet translated, and the anime for battle city hadn't been dubbed yet, his name among the fans was Malik as they assumed that's what his name would be. Yes, it is now marik, but there are those who look back fondly upon it, or use it as an in joke, which, i suppose, you fell for.

I'm sick of everyone complaining about the English dub. It's better than the Japanese version because A:It's in English which I-and most of you-speak. And B:It's more interesting. This is a show with lots of talking. About cards. The unique voices makes it less monotonous. And C:(This is adressed to you guys) Boys shouldn't be given female voices! Bakura sounds like a transvestite or a eunuch, and if you insist on being accurate to the already innaccurate anime-He's voiced by a GUY in Season 0.

this is really good, guys. I love the choices. My favorite is probably Malik and Ishtar =] my one thing I'd say is Ryou and Bakura sound a little too much alike. Its a really good choice, but try making a little bit more distinctivness, like making Bakura sound a bit more demonic.
Overall, great tho guys =] love your work, im super excited!!!

Atem sounds SO so so angry. Even during the calm\cool lines he still sounds pissed. Atem is so calm and cool most of the time, please try to tone some of the gruffness down a bit? I think it would pump the voice up to a full 10 out of 10.
