Is that a manual valve you're throwing? Too slow! Look for a modified sprinkler valve vid on youtube which is very fast. You need the air pressure to impulse behind the projectile rather than ramp up.

you could overcome that by having a longer barrel that gives the projectile more time to accelerate due to the slower impulse from a manual valve.

best cannons are piston dump valves thou, but the thing i like about manual valves is that they are simple, reliable, and idiot proof.

The air cannon has now been taken up to 110PSI which is allot more than the 40psi in this video. This was only a 'prototype' build and if / when i build another its going to be allot smaller! You must have quite a good paintball gun? :)

We used a 2" PVC Pipe I think it was just over a meter long...

No, not quite. To get round this we used a bit of pipe insulation cut out to hold it. check 45 seconds in to see. At 5:09 in the Vid you can just about see it separate from the ball

I think YOur air cannon is a little better than mine, but you should look into getting a electric solenoid valve

There was a small leak which meant we could only go to 40PSI :( .This has now been fixed at 90PSI its great!

All the laptops used were faulty and had all usable parts removed. The first one had a broken screen and hinge no drives or memory and the main board went up in smoke. The second one had a faulty screen no drives or memory and damaged plastics. The IBM had pressure marks to the screen no drives would not see HDD's. All the batteries were dud and its not lie they were new laptops either. At the end all parts were taken to be recycled. I couldnt even give the dam things away b4 they were smashed!
