I'd say the commentators are way off here. The hit was unsportsmanlike but not malicious. There's no elbow, there's no jumping to the tackle, player being tackled is not facing the board... The only thing is that it's a bit early. If Pominville already had had the puck he would've been more ready to take the hit and nothing like this would've happened. I'd say not dirty. I mean definately worth of a major penalty and maybe a short ban but nothing malicious here unlike many other cases.

ok, explanation. Anytime a player is facing the boards, its boarding to hit them. Its one of the dirtiest hits in hockey. Everyone knows you don't hit a player from behind into the boards. A minor hit gets you 2, a medium gets you a double minor or major. A nasty one like this, gets you 5 + 10 and a fine and a suspension. Especially these days. The big problem is the refs are inconsistent. This hit should be automatically a game misconduct+suspension.

From a Buffalo Fan. I think we have lost a little faith in Miller. Enroth is 15-3-1 starting, pretty good for a back up goalie, eh? I think the problem is that when Miller goes through these rough patches, he tanks, and then lays partial blame on some of the guys. When Enroth get's beat, (He's done this twice now) he goes to the Media, apologizes, and takes full responsibility, something Miller should do. When Enroth got hit the other night, the guys got really upset.

@masscerade Totally agree with you. Unfortunately, this whole Miller situation has caused many fans around the NHL to have a re-newed hatred towards Buffalo Fans. While I've given up in the Bills, I have not, and never will in the Sabre's. I'm not sure how I feel about the rumors of Miller's trade. Would I mind? Eh, can't say I would, but at the same time, I still think he is a good Goalie. Had that'd been Enroth, the Boston game would've been extremely ugly.

That was an intentional blindside hit. No reason for it. Reminds me of the Chara hit on Pacioretty. This is what the league is trying to crackdown on. Checks like that are career threatening.

ok, explanation. Anytime a player is facing the boards, its boarding to hit them. Its one of the dirtiest hits in hockey. Everyone knows you don't hit a player from behind into the boards. A minor hit gets you 2, a medium gets you a double minor or major. A nasty one like this, gets you 5 + 10 and a fine and a suspension. Especially these days. The big problem is the refs are inconsistent. This hit should be automatically a game misconduct+suspension.
