i used to have one of those but similar to that it camaflages to the gums or whatever

i had an expander it wasnt bad. the expanders definately hurt worse and when they have to take the expander out!!!

I had to have that and they ended up taking it out because it gave me an infection. they tried doing it with just braces but tbh its all worth it.

I had that operation about 2 years ago! It was the start to my long journey And had the spacer, the weirdest part is after the op, the spacer has to be widened using a turning thing!! Was crazy! I have just had my final operation Corrective jaw surgery, that moved my bottom jaw back and top jaw forward. If any questions on it anyone, have a look at my video .... Expanders suck so bad... so glad its off xD They mess up your speech so bad that you cant make an "eee" sound, you have to teach yourself how to swallow with it (it is very difficult) and you basically can't suck or use a straw. Plus food gets stuck up there and it is SO annoying. hmmm did I forget anything? Oh yeah they scrape up the top of your tongue too. But it actually doesn't hurt that much it just feels like pressure

I had an expander when I was 9 or 10 I think, I hated it so much, it gave me a lisp and hurt my mouth, but now my mouth, teeth and gums are doing really well and are very healthy so I'm glad I had it, oral health is important :)

They CHANGED everything about braces, when i had braces we had elastic bands not springs, and the expander looked way different, the whole putting on process was 45-60 minutes, wow i guess 3 years makes a difference..i had mine from 6th-9th grade..

have one too, it's pretty bad with swallowing and eating because the food gets stuck on top of the expander, and the tongue gets blocked by it so you need so liquid to wash it down.:(

So I'm not worried about pain at all or getting food stuck up there because i already have a pretty simple diet (Water, fruit, etc.) The only things I'm worried about are getting a gap in my front teeth and talking funny. What if like I have to say something in class the day after I get it? I'll just embarass myself. (Btw i'm 14)
