READ THIS CRAP! The best way to do this is to gather some friends,nice player,not noobs. If they are good players they will be able to control one of the 4 sides of the villages,get a jeep and position is in the Southern side of the village,control the machine gun on the jeep and tell your friends to operate the Machine Guns surrounding the village,hope they complete their jobs and there you go,mission complete! this mission makes me so mad my strategy is to try and get the sniper because it is a one shot kill and is accurate i didn't get the apc so my guys were pretty screwed but this guy knows what he is doing.

This game is easy actually just take your time,no too much of it though, remember that this game isn't call of duty where you're a human tank and take a thousand bullets hide behide a rock and repeat.

FINALLY!!!! After dying about 30 times trying to defend that damn village without APC support i restarted the mission and with two APC with me i cleared the whole mission on my first run. I just have to say that if someone can defend that village with just infantry, well he's no doubt the toughest SOB on earth!

get your squad to help out with your allies, then plant mines in the forest to the right a little ahead of the mg. This should blow up any enemies which spawned there. Then operate the mg and mow down anyone coming down the hill.

how come the enemy AI is like unstoppable fighting machines with the morale of Thor and Krato's love-child...while your allies n team are cowardly fuckwits you cant trust to stay behind cover...it would be fine if the game let you handle like call of duty but ur slow and klunky.

Honestly, thank goodness the PC version has a mission editor, because seriously this mission is some horse shit.

DR suffers from typical symptoms of "consoleitis" in that you're cast in the role of a grunt, but your final mission objective is more befitting somebody of a MUCH higher rank.

As a lowly grunt, it matters not whether plans succeed or fail, its not incumbent upon you to make badly laid plans "work" . The game should progress whether you're forced to retreat or whether you prevail.

Grunts move with the ebb and flow of the tide of battle.

This is a shitty unrealistic mission.

This is how I finally won this mission: (directions based on the map orientation)

*Send 2 (or 4) & 3 (your medic) to the top right gun turret, 2 (or 4) manning the turret and 3 assisting.

*Send your unused guy (4 or 2) to the bottom right gun turret.

*You cover the bottom left of the map, going back and forth from the bottom left gun turret to your right (in-game from the turret), down the hill a little into the woods. You'll probably have to take some guys out in the woods to your left also.

@SGTBoomsteel I'm on this part and I don't have any APCs. They got blown up during the beginning of the mission because I don't know how to protect them from the spotters near the radio tower. When I got to defending this village, I eventually end up getting overran by oncoming troops and everyone on my team including me ends up dying, no matter what tactic I try. So, I think it is impossible to do this part without the APCs. Also, for me, the village got blown up and I still had to defend it.

this mission fucked me many times in hardcore mode. especially the defending part. it's so annoying to do all the easy shit again and then fail after half an hour of playing....

@nonickworks All you have to do is stationed a man at the gunner, and make sure you aim for the AT soldier to protect your Tank (or whatever it is)..and then it becomes pretty easy to defend. Also place a man on the right side of the road at the trees to keep those soldiers from sneaking through on the right side. I always aim for that AT soldier..and my tank takes care of the rest.

Note: Make sure two of your tanks reach the town.

This mission is really hard - it put me off playing the game at all a while ago. Just reinstalled it, and got through this after much hair tearing-out. There were no APC's in the village, so I had to sprint and find one that had broken down a distance away , repair it, and then use its explosive rounds to defend the southern exit. Thankfully took out the AT teams before they got me! Amazed its actually possible using squad commands, the video maker here is a better man than I ...

What I did was that I put down a defend order on the objective marker. That makes the guys sort of patrol the area (including the annoying right flank). Here also I had an APC just next to the first Machine gun to help cover us, but I never once crossed over to the left flank like you did here. I left my AI patrol and defend the right flank and that sort of middle part and I manned the MG to take out anyone who came right at us. PASS

@VSB309 In order for your APCs to reach the village you have to eliminate all the AT threats on the way which can be difficult. You will lose one because of mortar fire but your other 2 should reach the village. The position you have to defend, always aim for the AT soldier targeting your APC..and it will defend your right flank, and front.

Pick up a PLA Markman's gun and watch for the AT soldier..do not let him take out your APC.

im currently trying to do this on hardcore mode, its so frustrating as there are no checkpoints, the last bit of the mission(the bit in the video) is stupid. i defend my bit with an APC and then the opposite side of town gets breached so i turned around to look and i get blown up by an AT team that appeared on the hill. i was so close to the end and it pisses me off so much
