Bhaiya style ah..throwing the lemon. Nice dish everyone in the family liked it, my children got bored of my cooking, everytime when i tried something it went wrong, so they request me not to try any new recipes....but now they have become fan of VAHCHEF. Thankyou Bhaiya
if there is any oscar award in cooking, i think you deserve that sanjay.. you are one of the best cooks in the world.. just by seeing the way you cook and explain, one can judge that..and your dishes look very rich and creamy... (i dont know how they taste though).. i have to try.... smile....thanks ..
you really need to put up proper recipes on you website chef, the existing recipe is flawed.especially while making rice dishes we need to know the proper rice measurements.it seems to me like you really don't want to give ur viewers the right measurements of few recipes.most of the recipes in your website are flawed and what else can we expect, the person typing the recipes is just guessing the quantity.
Dear Sanjay, cooked this at home and really liked it. being a bengali poppy seeds are a part of life but never used it like this. lighter than biryani... absolutely quick n easy .. used a pressure cooker turned out equally good. thanks to the person who provided u this recipe too.
really i love u sanjay. ur every cooking is so superb. u know i never cooked biryanis and salan . but watching ur cooking i have started cooking so well that even my hubby is happy with my cooking and we never miss india especially in case of dishes of india. thanxs a lot love u.
Hi Vahchef ... I made this dish ... to my utter surprise for the first time i made this pulao and it turned really great ... my husband really liked it .... thanks a lot .... :)
hahaha!!! me tooo!!!! lol except in Canada. it would be hilarious making that in the communal kitchen though.. all the goray and cheenay wondering what the thordka smell is.. loll
@shanthegeek me too...but i have a sloution my friend....order all the Indian spices that you can think of online..buy your pots and pans and oil/ghee..etc..and use the dorm kitchen and make your own Indian food..that's what I'm doing ;')
I don't have basmati, and the long-grained rice that I get from the American grocery store always gets messed up with 2x water... what is the ideal amount of water if i'm using long-grained rice?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Rice soaked in water for half hour will absorb one part of water(as per one of your earlier recipes). The remaining part of water is in gravy. But you added one more glass of water. Somehow your expalnation for amount of water to be added is not matching and is not in consistent with your earlier explanations. I am not doubting your intension though.
well...m trying n staying away from meat...also my mom used to make the same version on fridays( a no-meat day in my house!) using just chunky vegetables n soy nuggets (meal maker)...tastes awesome!
Our beloved Vahchef explained the difference between pulao and biryani in one of his earliest videos. Please watch the following video: watch?v=oZpq9icGBl4
It was poppy seeds.. though you are right in some variations if you don't have coconut, you can use seasame seeds with poppy seeds roast it blend it to make the paste the Chef made.
i tried this recipe ,,, and it came out very tasty ,,, thanks for this recipe ,,,

Chicken will be very juicy , but if the quantity of water is not good , then you'll have the chicken which is very dry. lol

In the US supermarkets, Basmati rice is available. Check for the Carolina brand. I often substitute it with Jasmine rice
