Knowing FOX News, and seeing how stupid the description and tags were, I had to actually research this. Turns out that the school officials have had histories of promoting Christianity and leading prayers at school events. Also, the booster dinner was a school-funded (aka, TAXPAYER-funded) event, and the fact that they prayed anyway was what caused the ACLU lawsuit. Had the school officials privately paid for the booster dinner themselves and prayed, there would have been no lawsuit.
@DeadFishFactory Also, there WERE students at the booster dinner. It was an event that was taxpayer-funded with students attending, and the school officials tried to lead them in prayer anyway.
The only reason the ACLU filed the lawsuit was because two students that attended the event came to them in the first place. If this were between consenting adults, then how would the ACLU have found out in the first place?
al5mind9trnksdr745bi Welcome to the USSA. What right does the police have to tell us that we cant read our Bibles in our homes. That is going much too far.
You are taking Christs words out of context. He was refering to the people who do it in order to be seen by men, not people who simply want to thank him without any thought to " being seen by men ". It was the motivation for the praying in public that he despised. Christ himself prayed in public.
@EqualAndFree Hypocrites don't go to prison. Actors are hypocrits, do they go to prison? Have I not the right to be hypocrite or not? Its my decision?
I think it is crazy that they dnt want kids to hear a prayer however they are completely ok with them seeing and hearing vile stuff in movies and music turrn on the tv have naked women faunting their stuff and here there is a guy who says a prayer which harms the kids more.
@301Goldstar yes i can. a couple hundred years ago i could have been killed for speaking against religion.suck it up buttercup.yes i can. yes i can. it is against the law to pray in public..thank you jesus. your superstition is dying.
and i love this quote.....the internet. where religions come to die.
@zeustruth, Hi, I'm not gonna put you down or anything. I have put my faith in Jesus Christ. I am just interested ive heard a little about Wicca but will you tell me is there a diety or a spirit behind it? I'm really just curious. Thanks
well i'm a Wiccan a *witch* and proud of that fact, . christains has the right to pray if there not in school or on school grounds...school is for *learning* not for *praying* even to yourself when at a meal, but label it as a CRIME? wtf is up with that shit? by the god's , the s0o call greatest countery on earth is now the biggest SHIT stain in the world...GRATZ on winning the title U.S...how much MORE are you gonna push on all of the people in this shit stain of a country.... jeez
@zeustruth Jesus Christ Is the only one you should serve wicca is against Christ and Against God, you are getting your sources from the fiery pits of hell God bless you
Unbelievable, over a simple prayer, over a meal! That is really extreme! America is not a free country anymore. All the freedoms our forefathers fought for are gone out the window. The Declaration of Independence is trampled under foot, by the very government that was put in place to protect it! The Bill of Rights has been rewritten for the totalitarian control of the Roman beast! satan rules this planet embodied in the Roman beast!
@RudeAwakning satan! satan! you sound like the fuckin church lady. american the christian....i mean idiot nation. calling yourself the christian nation is far from flatering.
all religions are nuts... that is fact... but it doesn't make it right for them to be prohibited from praying either (public or otherwise)... unless of course they're praying for destruction and death and end of the world sort of things (which some of these christian nutters do)... then they should be PUT TO DEATH... or at the very least, warned not to do such things...
It is vanity under the sun to boast prayers in public, it is in the scriptures. Your relationship with Yahuah of hosts is personal and boasting prayers are usually reserved for teachers for hire and prophets of Baal, whom wish to promote themselves in vain without worth empires.
Let's put this into perspective : Jesus said to pray by yourself in secret. He said that people who pray before others are hypocrites - and not followers of his.
It boggles my mind self-proclaimed Christians get up in arms about something Jesus said they're not suppose to do in the first place.
Matt. 6:5 says "When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners SO THAT THEY MAY BE SEEN BY MEN."
I'm sure you can agree that Jesus' point here is to not be like those who pray merely for the purpose of being seen by others. That is what Christians are not supposed to do. It is the intention of being seen, not praying out loud that Jesus says is wrong.
@DanPrinMan and....why do you stop at Matt 6:5, and tell me I'm misquoting? Matt 6:6 continues :
"6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. "
I'm sure you can agree I did not "misquote horribly". You just quote-mined to justify your position.
Jesus said to pray in secret -behind closed doors. Not in public. Period.
You said "He said that people who pray before others are hypocrites." The verse actually says " you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners SO THAT THEY MIGHT BE SEEN BY OTHERS." Do you agree there is a difference between doing something in public and doing something in public for the purpose of being seen by others?
When you look at it I wasn't "quote mining" at all. I quoted the exact verse.
Vs 6 is a contrast of vs 5. You've got to understand vs 5 before you can understand vs 6. In vs 5 Jesus is discouraging praying out loud only to be seen by others. He's saying to be the opposite as the hypocrites who pray out loud for the purpose of being seen.
He's not saying that "you're a hypocrite if you pray out loud." Jesus often used the Pharisees to show the people what not to be like and it would make sense that he's referring to the Pharisees here.
@DanPrinMan #1 The bible was not always ridiculous to me...but it does finally make sense now that I know it's no different than the qur'an, the vedas, the illiad and every other self-affirming "words of/about/from the god(s)" held up by a religion.
#2 there's no misunderstanding - I read the bible for what it is. And according to Jesus, his followers are suppose to pray behind closed doors in secret.
#3 of course, the bible also says not pray because "God knows before you do."
I'm sorry that you believe those ancient books are the same. If your interpretations of Matt 6:5-6 was correct don't you think there would be some sects of Christianity would practice this? I don't know of any. And I don't know if anyone who interprets this passage the way you do
Either you're just brilliant and all Christians are dumb
Or the Christian is correct in the way they interpret their "holy book" and you just so happened to be incorrect
@DanPrinMan "I'm sorry that you believe those ancient books are the same." - It's knowledge, not belief.
"...don't you think there would be some sects of Christianity would practice this? I don't know of any."
There are more than 30,000 Christian sects in the world right now - growing more each year - as churches split into more churches over interpretations.
"Would you agree there's a difference?"
I would agree that Christians read into the bible whatever they want to find in the bible.
So do you BELIEVE that your knowledge is correct then? Surely you do. That's belief.
Sure there are more than 30,000 sects of Christianity, but my question was don't you think at least 1 of these 30,000 sects would practice not praying in public and only in private?
You seem to have difficulty answering my simple questions.
Again, would you agree that there is a difference between doing something in public and doing something for the purpose of being seen by others?
@DanPrinMan "So do you BELIEVE that your knowledge is correct then? Surely you do. That's belief."
No. This is a word game. When knowledge is testable and provable, "belief" is not required. I don't "believe" 2+2=4. I "know" it does. "Belief" is required for the unprovable.
"but my question was don't you think at least 1 of these 30,000 sects would practice not praying in public and only in private?"
Look into it yourself. You'll find many Christian sects interpret Matt 6: 5-6 strictly.
@DanPrinMan "You seem to have difficulty answering my simple questions."
Not at all. As I said : look into this yourself. My answer os not opinion or belief - it's just fact. Many Christians try to follow Jesus' words literally and not play games with them.
"Again, would you agree that there is a difference between doing something in public and doing something for the purpose of being seen by others?"
Yes there is a difference. But Jesus said : "when you pray, pray in secret."
It's no game. The word "belief" can be used outside of religion. I don't know if you knew that. The common accepted definition of "belief" in philosophical corners is "the attitude we have, whenever we take something and regard it as true (Schwitzgebel - SEP)" So according to you, you don't "believe" that you have a head. I'm sorry.
I've looked it up but I can't find what you apparently found so prevalent in sects of Christianity who only practice private prayer.
@DanPrinMan "the common accepted definition of "belief" in philosophical corners is "the attitude we have, whenever we take something and regard it as true (Schwitzgebel - SEP)""
A search for this brings back nothing. However, if I search for FAITH, the first hit is a wiki definition entry : "Faith is the confident belief or trust in a person, idea, or thing that is not based on proof."
I don't have to "believe" I have a head - I know I do.
I searched: It's the first two results on google. "philosophy . alltop . com" and also "siasat . pk" - what ever that is.
The original source is plato . stanford . edu / entries / belief / - first line and a 1/4
I shortened the definition because of space. I took out the words "roughly" and "to be the case," - just a note: these words obviously don't change the definition
@DanPrinMan oh man...I totally messed up my last post. I shouldn't talk about this stuff before at least 1 coffee. If you look back, you'll see I jumped from "belief" to "faith". My bad. Lemme get back on track here...
"You chose to "regard as true" that "every self-affirming religious book is the same"
I've read through a few versions of the bible, the qur'an, most of the vedas, and a few other self-affirming "Words of Gods". They are all provably false within their own contradictions.
@TheHigherVoltageI believe that there might be some contradictions. The Bible has been copied and translated like a several million times through the last several thousand years and I don't expect that IF God himself inspired the original texts of scripture that man would have perfectly copied/translated them in the process, whether on purpose or not. I do however notice people's clear acceptance of original writings/cops that were copied later than the Bible was in relation to the events within
@DanPrinMan The bible claims itself (many times throughout) the infallible, absolute and unchangeable "Words of God." - yet I am somehow suppose to accept that an all-powerful, all-knowing God can't even keep his own words (that I'm suppose to believe without question) from being changed?
The bible has some good teachings in it (as do all religious books I've read) and some sickeningly sadistic ones as well. I see no reason to think it came from, or is a reflection of, any real God.
I would agree that there is infallibility grammatically, even some phraseological hiccups, but does this change the full picture of God's relationality and man's need?
Is God's omnipotence and omniscience somehow incompatible with man's ability to make mistakes even one like that? I think that question needs to be answered before righting off the issue.
Just because he's all-powerful doesn't mean he has to keep man from making mistakes. He wouldn't be omnipotent if he HAS to.
@DanPrinMan "but does this change the full picture of God's relationality and man's need?"
Yes. If the bible is not God's infallible and unchangeable word (as it claims it is and always will be), it can't be from any real God.
I'm suppose to believe "TRUTH" is that God loves me, and wants me to love/know/serve Him - but all I get is a changing book of contradictions, an imaginary friend, and the threat that I will burn forever if I don't follow along.
@DanPrinMan To refine my position - I do not reject the bible on grammatical errors and phraseological hiccups. I reject the bible because there are 1000s of irreconcilable contradictions, and a theological premise that's insane.
Original sin, savior death, faith is required / real proof will never be given. If I accept this story at face value I'm "saved". If I question it at all, I burn forever.
I shake my head to think I use to fall for the common cult trick.
@DanPrinMan When it comes to "belief" - I reserve that word for things I do not know for sure. I "know" I have a head.
I know every self-affirming religious book (the major ones...let me refine my position on this) share easily provable errors - and therefore are not from any real God.
My assertion is stronger than belief - it's provable, reproducible knowledge. The same as I know I have a head and can prove it.
Do you believe you have a head or do you know you do?
@DanPrinMan "I've looked it up but I can't find what you apparently found so prevalent in sects of Christianity who only practice private prayer."
Funny how I find tons of info. Like how public vs private/secret prayer has been a long standing controversy between various Christian sects. And I can even find US websites like beliefnet, with articles from Christians against "the National Day of Prayer", specifically citing the verses we are talking about.
Of course to you anything the Bible says is ridiculous anyways, because it's all wrong. So anything you read is going to be ridiculous.
I'm only trying to pointing out that there is a misunderstanding, not that "you're wrong therefore the Bible is correct."I read and saw that the text is saying something different that what you say...that is all.
@TheHigherVoltage Oh and really quick: This comment proved my point. You just contrasted verse 5 and 6. Contrast-to compare in order to show differences "(5) do not pray in public places. (6) pray in secret." "Do not pray"=negative "Pray"=positive "in public places"=not in secret, but in public "in secret"=not in public, but in secret. Jesus says "DON'T be like these guys by doing this... instead DO this (and in so doing you will be different, or in contrast, to the hypocrites).
The first amendment is a restriction on government, not the people, as Mike says. A public school is considered a part of the state. Therefore these individuals, as school officials were acting as representatives of the government. That being said criminal charges in this case are absurd. They should be disiplined or at worse fired.
@1954phyllis I think that would be harsh as well, I meant it as an escalation of discipline, just like breaking any other rule at work. Just like if you're a teacher who smokes, they don't care if you smoke on your own time, just not at school functions. If you were to light up at a school function or in class you will get disciplined, then suspended, then eventually fired if you do not correct your behaviour.
No one says you can't pray/smoke/whatever on your own damn time.
@jacevicki Do you really think that it's such a big deal that those men prayed before they ate their meal? I dont think there was any harm done to any one. Praying to God shouldn't be a crime, I believe that if those men prayed to allah or some other god nothing would have been said about it.
@1954phyllis I don't think it's a big deal. It's no more a big deal than a teacher telling the kids to vote republican, not wearing dress code, teaching from a book not in the approved curriculum, or anything else that teachers get disiplined for that is NEVER newsworthy. The ONLY reason this is an issue is the first amendment protects religion from the government. Therefore, to obey the constitution, government employees cannot promote religion when acting as agents of the government.
Teaching from a book not in the approved curriculum is not a constitutional right. You can use bogus examples all you want, but it's a matter of our nation's constitution. That is what the point is.
@DanPrinMan So you support jail sentences for this, Dan?
The very reason that America has such a vibrant Christian culture is the constitution which protects religion from government interference. It boggles the mind how people think that 85% of the population is a persecuted minority whenever they're told that they have equal rights to the other 15%
@1954phyllis not long ago, a Hindu leader tried to say one of his religion's prayers before a Congressional session. He was invited to. He was repeatedly interrupted by the yells of a offended Christians.
This BS goes both ways - it's not just "oh us poor Christians". Or maybe I'm wrong. Would you honestly be ok with a witchdoctor praying over your food before you ate it? Or would that piss you off?
this is so funny its like telling every worker at the aclu that you cant curse any more or you can go to jail i mean yes some people who are afried of the truth will agree that oh since they are at a public place and they are praying now im offened, i would say what the heck man if your offened im srry but some of the stuff you do is offending also. but i mean i would not pay the fine i would go to jail and loss every thing be for i conformed to the aclu
It IS a crime! You wouldn't like a Muslim Cleric telling your kids to pray. He would be like... Allaaaah Rechyyyaaaahh muulllarrjja! That crap doesn't belong in a school. Religion is a ridiculously anti-intellectual at best.
Yes it is hurting someone and you know he and his minions don't like it much. This is going to get much worse before it gets better. But you know that the war has already been won. Jesus is Lord. God is Great. And they don't like it. Keep praying. Remember the millstone Jesus spoke of. The ACLU and the like has a special one waiting.
@matcotech Apparently you did not listen very well, there were no children at this meeting.. It isn't a crime in America to pray! As adults we are all capable of choosing our own religion..
I'm mad at what's happening but I'm happy that it's occurring because it's waking us Christians up that the peace / safety we have concerning our religion won't always be this way in America and that we will be persecuted violently by the 5013C church/mega fake churches/ and haters of God/Christianity in this country really soon.
Even if there were students near, they were not forced to join in the prayer.
Students watched while Muslims prayed on the lawns of the capitol. They watched Obama recite the Hadith. Why were these people not arrested? Why was Obama not arrested? Don't tell me we now have to tell our children you can't see what the president does, he might be praying. To stop children from seeing or hearing prayer, we cant allow the president to be seen on national TV
@justcary It is horrible that as long as a person doesn't worship the only true God every thing will be okay but Christains best not say the name of Jesus in public. God's judgment is soon coming to America.
who cares if a prayer was said, for crying out loud its freedom of religion and there were no students near by! the ACLU are a bunch of ambulance chacers!
That shouldn't be a big deal to Chsistians anyways.
Mathew 6:6 "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you".
But what is absurd is how their right are being taken away and how much crap Christians take from society now a days specially when it is a religion that promotes love and peace. I bet if a muslim wanted to pray in public no one would object, they would be too scared.
Jesus said: Barak O Bamma's real name is Satan and that the United States is the mystery Babylon and will be destroyed by meteor this year! I have calculated the time of impact and the target area! scriptural proof of Obammas name this is all in (fallenstar . us)
And where exactly says Scripture that Barak O' Bamma is Satan? Verse please! I have read the whole Bible and it doesn't mention Obamma or USA (by name) anywhere...
God will destroy all religions and governments and this is what is happening! the new world system will be something never seen on Earth and enforced! Look around you and tell me this whole thing isnt falling apart. God sent a warning at the destruction of the twin towers and will wind up with the destruction of America then the other governments! Americas end will happen with the meteor hitting the East Coast and destroying it completly.
Teach christianity as MYTHOLOGY in schools just as with Zevs, Apollo, Mithrah, Ra, The Great Ju Ju, Odin and THOR. THAT would be FAIR.
And showing children a cross in school is just as fit as with any other cruel bronze age/megieval torture device. All hail to IRONIC picking of religious icons.
@David1531992 It is not a myth... thousand's of prophecies came true. Isreal just divided. I pray you search for the truth. Jesus is Lord you will learn the easy way or the hard way that is up to you.
@thuthbeknowen; Close to 2100 profecies about THOR, many hundreds about Mithrah and MORE about Islam than in all of the bible came true too. But not ALL of them can be true at the same time, can they?
For every guess there is a merit. Guess enough times and some of them will be correct. People forget a wrong guess easier than a correct one.
Coldreading much, no?
That last line sounded much like the old Cosa Nostra style "Son, I'm worried what might happen to you if you..." -scare tactics?
Bro please study this matter before you are quick to judge... It is not scare tactics it is as simple as this you pick what team you want to be on Love or Evil
God = Love and Devil = Evil you chose!
you can't play on both teams....
you will learn the easy way or the hard way. Watch Billy Crone's series called the final countdown. Just a taste of prophecy ; )
Are you thinking about the crucifixion of Jesus in the year 31 AD? This was done by the Roman power on request from the Jews, state and religion combined leads always to persecution of the minority. This is also evident in in Constantin persecution of the Christians on basis of Sunday sacredness. There is nothing racist about it it is an historical fact.
actually I kow how the crucifixion went down, I was talking about the racial slamg used by sparty is obvious hate towars them. Howevr they Jews had nothing to do with constantine and how he ruled.
This is true, we should avoid to place blame on people after the event. It is not fair to anyone, nor is it fair that we forget what happened. The Jews have however been blamed for this since it happened and persecuted like no other people. The Sabbath keeping people is the most persecuted people in the world, and will be so again. This time because they stand up for Christ and for His Name. When they gather in the name of ecumenism, persecution is always the result.
Huckabee is lying here. The prayer violated a court order by the judge. The ACLU filed the initial lawsuit because of rampant prayer by these guys, but this charge was because of a violation of the settlement court order.
This has to be the dumbest court order around. This was a prayer over food. Nothing else. Your telling me that I would get arrested for saying a prayer over my food if I were in public? This is a perfect reason why the ACLU should be dissolved. They waste tax payers money on the dumbest court cases. The ACLU should worry about actual civil crimes being commited, instead of what I say at a dinner table.
2. If true, perhaps people are pushing back because they are sick of it being forced down their thoats everyday on TV or someone knocking at your door, back off.
3. It clearly states freedom of religion in the Constitution Bill of rights, you like reading the bible or going to church? Great! Then help the rest of us defend the Constitution! you have more to lose. like kingamin said we all are being targeted.
Christians, Jews, Muslims and all other ppl with deep religous conviction must realize we all are being targeted by the patriot act and FEMA camps! All the children of Abraham (pbuh) must unite against this tyranny. Let us not be seperated because of differences of beliefs, but unite against a common enemy that is hijacking our Land of The Free!!! Im done preaching lol...
I do not believe a call for ecumenism for this is exactly what the ruling elite desires. For the religions to band together under Rome, the only result is that instead of one tyranny you get another one. We should protect the constitution as far as possible, freedom of religion, freedom of thought is something that is taught in the Bible, I believe the answer to this question is that we protect our families, move out of the cities and embrace the truth that the prophecies in the Bible speaks of.
@kingamin77 am sorry but please dnt put Christians and Muslims in the sam catogery, we do not beleive the same things. we might have similar ideals but we do not worship the same God and Christians believe that Christ is the son of God muslims beleive he is a good teacher.
criminally charging two people for praying is absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time and money why don't the go after the real criminals here like the murders, robbers, and rapist
I know the truth, I have taken the time to view the Jewish news and talk radio. Who are you trying to fool, there aren't many Jewish people who dislike Christians. More Christians visit the Holy site than any other religious place in the world. I suggest you go to another website where you can learn firsthand and not through someone elses homemade video.
Oh SpartyV8 I forgot to tell you a good place to start in assisting your learning is the Rapture Ready web site. This will answer any questions you may have and clarify your understanding of the Jewish population. As for me....I am finished after visiting your site all I can say is GET BEHIND THEE SATAN!
Honestly, I don't believe it is Christian like to pick and choose portions of the Bible to agree with. In every type of person there are both good and evil. More Jewish People are accepting Christ daily than ever before.
God will bless those who bless his people and curse those who curse his people. Keep your eyes on Israel as this is your timeline for the coming tribulation.
Yes but now we have a NEW LEADER who has stated during an interview that he did not like the bigatory that was written in the Book of Paul in the Bible. We can probably expect to see more of this in the future.
Is this even a surprise having in count we are in the last days ... satan is desesperate - attacking christianity from all different perspectives, it really is absurd at all levels but not a surprise ... the worse is still to come. Come quick Lord Jesus !
Matthew 24:9 (NASB) Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. - - - However, true Christians won't be here during the tribulation, and another however, doesn't mean we won't suffer persecution in the now as the Lord's coming draws nearer. WAKE UP!
That is absolutely ridiculous! How are you harming someone by praying? Yet along saying grace over a meal?? If asking God in public to bless a meal or do something good will get you in jail, then you may as well jail people who promote any kind of hate. And when I mean that, I mean as simple as calling someone an idiot, stupid, or any other common name when someone is upset. That has wayyy more of a hurtful effect than asking for a blessing!!!
The religion of Atheism is Evolution... why can that be taught in schools but Creationism is not allowed to be taught, even when all things in nature points to Creationism? This is ridiculous!
Prayer is free speech... Why can the Pope come to America and pray in public and no one arrests him? Why can a Shaman chant his spells and no one arrests him...in fact he is considered a 'tourist attraction'... Why can people in casinos 'pray' to Lady Luck to help them, and they don't get arrested? Why could witches openly do rituals in the wake of Obama's presidency to 'clear the path for him and not get arrested? These are all forms of prayer. The Sword cuts both ways.
You mentioned all of the "Gods" people are praying to, and it is tolerated. The Bible Tells us they are actually praying to demons. That is how far mankind has fallen. Even their subconscience mind will not tolerate prayer to the true God, because they are aware of what their fate is going to be. That is why they feel intolerance for Christian prayer. They do not want any reminders of their coming torment. They want to silence us because of their deep rooted fear.
My post was mostly for the benefit of non believers to show how ridiculous persecution of Yeshua's Followers are... To them their prayers are not to demons...but to legitimate gods, and so, my post was to let them know that if THEY can pray to their gods openly...then we should be able to pray to the One True Living G-d openly...
@karensera "The Bible Tells us they are actually praying to demons. "
And other "words of the gods" holy books (like the Vedas for example), claim everyone outside their religion is praying to demons too - which would include you.
I really don't care who prays to what. It's all just superstitious mumbo jumbo for people who need/want imaginary superfriends to fix problems they lack the skills to deal with on their own.
What a shame that the day has come when we see that God's people are being prosecuted for his word but yet we are seeing the end days unfold and God is good. This case won't go anywhere because God is in control. Have a blessed day.smile
II Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
This is all part of God's plan, America is falling apart rapidly now because God is no longer wanted. God is what made America strong, powerful & free. I truely believe we are in the last of days. I also believe Revelations Chaptor 18 is speaking of America.
If this isn't proof that people making our laws are whorshiping the dark one, I don't know what is.
We need to trust in God's plan. It's hard right now, but he is in control and all of his actions are perfect.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" Ephesians 6:12
Many claim a belief in God, but they want to shut him out of every part of their world. What hypocrites! Their minds are so darkened that they can't see that he can can read their dark hearts. A perfect example is Obama claiming to be a Christian, yet covering up a symbol for the name of Jesus before giving a speech. He should be willing to fight for his beliefs, not ashamed of them. Jesus may be ashamed of him also on judgment day. These are the actions of a hypocrite.
Man's silence has deafened the moral laws of God.Arrest me if you want I WILL PRAY wherever no matter whoever does not approve.I answer to one God and one alone, not man.
As a citizen of America, we should have the right to pray anywhere. It's time for us Christians to stand up & let our voices be heard. We stood back & watched prayer be taken out of school. Now, let's put prayer back in school. Let us not give them room to take away the rest of our civil liberties & freedom of speech. We have to politically push them back with our votes & with our prayers. I still don't understand how we let a couple atheists take away the majority's right to pray in school.
Pray for these two men, they will need the strengthof our prayers.
By no coincidence the pan handle was hit with a minor hurricane the next day after these mens arrest.G-d will stand by who ever remains loyal to Him and His Son.
a humble slave to the Lord Jesus Christ, filled eith the Holy Spirit.
I believe, if it would have been prayer by any other religion, it would have been accepted, even welcomed. It is the Christians who are being persecuted. This only exposes people's hatred for Jesus. They hate us because they hate HIM! They hate him because subconciously, they know what their fate is going to be, & they don't want any reminders of it. They will do anything to stamp out his name, as if this can prevent their coming demise. They are deluding themselves. Their judgment will stand.
Our Father in heaven, may you forgive these people, for they know not what they do, instead we ask that you cast down your spirit of truth upon them, you convict their hearts to turn to you, love them Father and help us to love them also, let justice be done Father, show favour upon the faithfull and let your will be done!
ACLU is part of the NWO balanced diet ;)

Knowing FOX News, and seeing how stupid the description and tags were, I had to actually research this. Also, the booster dinner was a school-funded (aka, TAXPAYER-funded) event, and the fact that they prayed anyway was what caused the ACLU lawsuit. Had the school officials privately paid for the booster dinner themselves and prayed, there would have been no lawsuit.
DeadFishFactory 3 months ago
@DeadFishFactory Also, there WERE students at the booster dinner. It was an event that was taxpayer-funded with students attending, and the school officials tried to lead them in prayer anyway.
The only reason the ACLU filed the lawsuit was because two students that attended the event came to them in the first place. If this were between consenting adults, then how would the ACLU have found out in the first place?

You are taking Christs words out of context. He was refering to the people who do it in order to be seen by men, not people who simply want to thank him without any thought to " being seen by men ". It was the motivation for the praying in public that he despised. Christ himself prayed in public.

TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
Ok, you're misquoting the text horribly.
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan and....why do you stop at Matt 6:5, and tell me I'm misquoting? Matt 6:6 continues :
"6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. "
I'm sure you can agree I did not "misquote horribly". You just quote-mined to justify your position.
Jesus said to pray in secret -behind closed doors. Not in public. Period.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan I don't see a contrast between verse 5 and 6, I see them as (5) what not to do; and (6) what to do.
(5) do not pray in public places.
(6) pray in secret.
Straight forward.
But then again, we are discussing quotes from the backwards book of contradictions.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
What do you make of the statement "so that they might be seen by others?" referring to a hypocrite...
They're praying in public, not just to pray out loud, but "to be seen by others" (that he says is what the hypocrites do.
You still have not acknowledged that statement in the passage. I'm acknowledging that it is significant.
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan #1 The bible was not always ridiculous to me...but it does finally make sense now that I know it's no different than the qur'an, the vedas, the illiad and every other self-affirming "words of/about/from the god(s)" held up by a religion.
#2 there's no misunderstanding - I read the bible for what it is. And according to Jesus, his followers are suppose to pray behind closed doors in secret.
#3 of course, the bible also says not pray because "God knows before you do."
go figure.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan "I'm sorry that you believe those ancient books are the same." - It's knowledge, not belief.
"...don't you think there would be some sects of Christianity would practice this? I don't know of any."
There are more than 30,000 Christian sects in the world right now - growing more each year - as churches split into more churches over interpretations.
"Would you agree there's a difference?"
I would agree that Christians read into the bible whatever they want to find in the bible.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan "So do you BELIEVE that your knowledge is correct then? Surely you do. That's belief."
No. This is a word game. When knowledge is testable and provable, "belief" is not required. I don't "believe" 2+2=4. I "know" it does. "Belief" is required for the unprovable.
"but my question was don't you think at least 1 of these 30,000 sects would practice not praying in public and only in private?"
Look into it yourself. You'll find many Christian sects interpret Matt 6: 5-6 strictly.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan "You seem to have difficulty answering my simple questions."
Not at all. As I said : look into this yourself. My answer os not opinion or belief - it's just fact. Many Christians try to follow Jesus' words literally and not play games with them.
"Again, would you agree that there is a difference between doing something in public and doing something for the purpose of being seen by others?"
Yes there is a difference. But Jesus said : "when you pray, pray in secret."
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan "the common accepted definition of "belief" in philosophical corners is "the attitude we have, whenever we take something and regard it as true (Schwitzgebel - SEP)""
A search for this brings back nothing. However, if I search for FAITH, the first hit is a wiki definition entry : "Faith is the confident belief or trust in a person, idea, or thing that is not based on proof."
I don't have to "believe" I have a head - I know I do.
And I don't play these bullshit word games.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
Schwitzgebel is a philosopher
SEP is Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
I searched: It's the first two results on google. "philosophy . alltop . com" and also "siasat . pk" - what ever that is.
The original source is plato . stanford . edu / entries / belief / - first line and a 1/4
I shortened the definition because of space. I took out the words "roughly" and "to be the case," - just a note: these words obviously don't change the definition
I'm not playin word games.
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan oh man...I totally messed up my last post. I shouldn't talk about this stuff before at least 1 coffee. If you look back, you'll see I jumped from "belief" to "faith". My bad. Lemme get back on track here...
"You chose to "regard as true" that "every self-affirming religious book is the same"
I've read through a few versions of the bible, the qur'an, most of the vedas, and a few other self-affirming "Words of Gods". They are all provably false within their own contradictions.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltageI believe that there might be some contradictions. The Bible has been copied and translated like a several million times through the last several thousand years and I don't expect that IF God himself inspired the original texts of scripture that man would have perfectly copied/translated them in the process, whether on purpose or not. I do however notice people's clear acceptance of original writings/cops that were copied later than the Bible was in relation to the events within
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan The bible claims itself (many times throughout) the infallible, absolute and unchangeable "Words of God." - yet I am somehow suppose to accept that an all-powerful, all-knowing God can't even keep his own words (that I'm suppose to believe without question) from being changed?
The bible has some good teachings in it (as do all religious books I've read) and some sickeningly sadistic ones as well. I see no reason to think it came from, or is a reflection of, any real God.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan "but does this change the full picture of God's relationality and man's need?"
Yes. If the bible is not God's infallible and unchangeable word (as it claims it is and always will be), it can't be from any real God.
I'm suppose to believe "TRUTH" is that God loves me, and wants me to love/know/serve Him - but all I get is a changing book of contradictions, an imaginary friend, and the threat that I will burn forever if I don't follow along.
That's not God. That's a man-made cult.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan To refine my position - I do not reject the bible on grammatical errors and phraseological hiccups. I reject the bible because there are 1000s of irreconcilable contradictions, and a theological premise that's insane.
Original sin, savior death, faith is required / real proof will never be given. If I accept this story at face value I'm "saved". If I question it at all, I burn forever.
I shake my head to think I use to fall for the common cult trick.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
If we consider the reliability of the Bible, do these contradictions mean that the Bible as a whole cannot be trusted or only those parts?
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
You chose to "regard as true" that "every self-affirming religious book is the same"
It would be unreasonable to not believe that you have a head.
There is enough evidence to concluded that it is true that you have a head.
Belief is only unreasonable when there are no reasons to believe it or no evidence to conclude a certain belief as true.
How would you define the word belief, personally, from the knowledge you've gained?
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan When it comes to "belief" - I reserve that word for things I do not know for sure. I "know" I have a head.
I know every self-affirming religious book (the major ones...let me refine my position on this) share easily provable errors - and therefore are not from any real God.
My assertion is stronger than belief - it's provable, reproducible knowledge. The same as I know I have a head and can prove it.
Do you believe you have a head or do you know you do?
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan "I've looked it up but I can't find what you apparently found so prevalent in sects of Christianity who only practice private prayer."
Funny how I find tons of info. Like how public vs private/secret prayer has been a long standing controversy between various Christian sects. And I can even find US websites like beliefnet, with articles from Christians against "the National Day of Prayer", specifically citing the verses we are talking about.
Do you not know how to research?
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
Also when you read the context of Matt6:5-6 it makes more sense
v1 uses the phrase "to be noticed by them"
v2 uses the phrase "so that they may be honored by men"
I believe that Jesus understands there's a difference between doing something while others are around, and doing something "to be honored" by others
He is address the intention behind doing good deeds. Is it so that you'll look good to others around you or is it for a pure purpose
Would you agree there's a difference?
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage
@TheHigherVoltage

Praying over food, how awful. These people that pray over food should be jailed for life. Now doesnt that sound utterly absurb.
1954phyllis 1 year ago 2
The first amendment is a restriction on government, not the people, as Mike says. A public school is considered a part of the state. Therefore these individuals, as school officials were acting as representatives of the government. That being said criminal charges in this case are absurd. They should be disiplined or at worse fired.
jacevicki 1 year ago
@jacevicki Fired for praying you've got to be kidding. They weren't doing anyone any harm.
1954phyllis 1 year ago
@1954phyllis I think that would be harsh as well, I meant it as an escalation of discipline, just like breaking any other rule at work. Just like if you're a teacher who smokes, they don't care if you smoke on your own time, just not at school functions. If you were to light up at a school function or in class you will get disciplined, then suspended, then eventually fired if you do not correct your behaviour.
No one says you can't pray/smoke/whatever on your own damn time.
jacevicki 1 year ago
@jacevicki Do you really think that it's such a big deal that those men prayed before they ate their meal? I dont think there was any harm done to any one. Praying to God shouldn't be a crime, I believe that if those men prayed to allah or some other god nothing would have been said about it.
1954phyllis 1 year ago
@1954phyllis I don't think it's a big deal. It's no more a big deal than a teacher telling the kids to vote republican, not wearing dress code, teaching from a book not in the approved curriculum, or anything else that teachers get disiplined for that is NEVER newsworthy. The ONLY reason this is an issue is the first amendment protects religion from the government. Therefore, to obey the constitution, government employees cannot promote religion when acting as agents of the government.
jacevicki 1 year ago
@jacevicki
Teaching from a book not in the approved curriculum is not a constitutional right. You can use bogus examples all you want, but it's a matter of our nation's constitution. That is what the point is.
DanPrinMan 1 year ago
@DanPrinMan So you support jail sentences for this, Dan?
The very reason that America has such a vibrant Christian culture is the constitution which protects religion from government interference. It boggles the mind how people think that 85% of the population is a persecuted minority whenever they're told that they have equal rights to the other 15%

Friendoflord 2 years ago
Are you thinking about the crucifixion of Jesus in the year 31 AD? This was done by the Roman power on request from the Jews, state and religion combined leads always to persecution of the minority. This is also evident in in Constantin persecution of the Christians on basis of Sunday sacredness. There is nothing racist about it it is an historical fact.

Friendoflord 2 years ago

TouchOfGreatness 2 years ago
This has to be the dumbest court order around. This was a prayer over food. Nothing else. Your telling me that I would get arrested for saying a prayer over my food if I were in public? This is a perfect reason why the ACLU should be dissolved. They waste tax payers money on the dumbest court cases. The ACLU should worry about actual civil crimes being commited, instead of what I say at a dinner table.

1. Remember this is coming from FOX.
2. If true, perhaps people are pushing back because they are sick of it being forced down their thoats everyday on TV or someone knocking at your door, back off.
3. It clearly states freedom of religion in the Constitution Bill of rights, you like reading the bible or going to church? Great! Then help the rest of us defend the Constitution! you have more to lose. like kingamin said we all are being targeted.
swanutt 2 years ago
Christians, Jews, Muslims and all other ppl with deep religous conviction must realize we all are being targeted by the patriot act and FEMA camps! All the children of Abraham (pbuh) must unite against this tyranny. Let us not be seperated because of differences of beliefs, but unite against a common enemy that is hijacking our Land of The Free!!! Im done preaching lol...
kingamin77 2 years ago 4
I do not believe a call for ecumenism for this is exactly what the ruling elite desires. For the religions to band together under Rome, the only result is that instead of one tyranny you get another one. We should protect the constitution as far as possible, freedom of religion, freedom of thought is something that is taught in the Bible, I believe the answer to this question is that we protect our families, move out of the cities and embrace the truth that the prophecies in the Bible speaks of.
Mekelsior 2 years ago

I suggest you go to another website where you can learn firsthand and not through someone elses homemade video.
painterinoil 2 years ago
Oh SpartyV8 I forgot to tell you a good place to start in assisting your learning is the Rapture Ready web site. This will answer any questions you may have and clarify your understanding of the Jewish population. As for me....I am finished after visiting your site all I can say is GET BEHIND THEE SATAN!
painterinoil 2 years ago
Honestly, I don't believe it is Christian like to pick and choose portions of the Bible to agree with. In every type of person there are both good and evil. More Jewish People are accepting Christ daily than ever before.

Yes but now we have a NEW LEADER who has stated during an interview that he did not like the bigatory that was written in the Book of Paul in the Bible. We can probably expect to see more of this in the future.

There is no proof of the ACLU wanting these guys charged with crimes. They're not making any decisions in this case, it's the judge who handling it.
Char99 2 years ago
Does that include muslim prayer? Since it is now Ramadan, maybe we can arrest all the Muslims in America, thanks to the A.C.L.U.
How about Hindu Vedic Chanting?
How about Witchcraft, incantations?
Worshiping Gaya?
Of course not, the ACLU is only against Praying to God the Father, in Christ, as a Christian.

WAKE UP!

My goodness, are these people who claim to be smart that stupid?
prostar216 2 years ago
That is absolutely ridiculous! How are you harming someone by praying? Yet along saying grace over a meal?? If asking God in public to bless a meal or do something good will get you in jail, then you may as well jail people who promote any kind of hate. And when I mean that, I mean as simple as calling someone an idiot, stupid, or any other common name when someone is upset. That has wayyy more of a hurtful effect than asking for a blessing!!!
prostar216 2 years ago 2

G-d have mercy!

They want to silence us because of their deep rooted fear.
karensera 2 years ago 2
I know...it's sad...
G-d bless!

TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
I find it interesting how every religion bashes everyone else's as false - yet cry persecution when they don't get special treatment for their own.
"That is why they feel intolerance for Christian prayer."
"The Bible Tells us they are actually praying to demons."
Your magic book says everyone else prays to demons. So does every other religion's magic books. You're cult is no different than all the others.
Get your head outta the clouds. You're all praying to nothing.

I also believe Revelations Chaptor 18 is speaking of America.
mikestheman3 2 years ago

These are the actions of a hypocrite.
karensera 2 years ago
@rayelroad "We need to trust in God's plan."
So which is it? Do we have free will? Or all we all puppets to God's plan?
It can't be both.

Man's silence has deafened the moral laws of God.Arrest me if you want I WILL PRAY wherever no matter whoever does not approve.I answer to one God and one alone, not man.
grannydeb777 2 years ago
As a citizen of America, we should have the right to pray anywhere. It's time for us Christians to stand up & let our voices be heard. We stood back & watched prayer be taken out of school. Now, let's put prayer back in school. Let us not give them room to take away the rest of our civil liberties & freedom of speech. We have to politically push them back with our votes & with our prayers. I still don't understand how we let a couple atheists take away the majority's right to pray in school.

AusDisciple 2 years ago 3
I believe, if it would have been prayer by any other religion, it would have been accepted, even welcomed. It is the Christians who are being persecuted. This only exposes people's hatred for Jesus. They hate us because they hate HIM! They hate him because subconciously, they know what their fate is going to be, & they don't want any reminders of it. They will do anything to stamp out his name, as if this can prevent their coming demise. They are deluding themselves. Their judgment will stand.

Matthew 5
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
AusDisciple 2 years ago 2
Very well said. We must perservere. Have the courage , strength favor ,and wisdom to finish the race. This is just the begining.
We are warned By Jesus that true Christians will be persecuted and even put to death. G-d bless

Our Father in heaven, may you forgive these people, for they know not what they do, instead we ask that you cast down your spirit of truth upon them, you convict their hearts to turn to you, love them Father and help us to love them also, let justice be done Father, show favour upon the faithfull and let your will be done!
Amen!
