  • This strikes me as a very effective means to attack horsemen.

  • cant beleive my grandpa gave me that when im still like 8 or somethin.

  • Yeah, there are some who claim the Urumi is more of a SHIELD than an offensive weapon; but the fact is that one man armed with an Urumi can easily kill ten other men in a matter of seconds. This has not only been rumored, but it has been demonstrated under scientifically-controlled conditions. The Urumi is a DEADLY weapon.

  • @ZeskoWhirligan a) That is not a fact- individual skill is more important than the weapon you use. No exceptions. b) You can't be serious when you say that it's been scientifically tested that a man can "easily kill" ten other men in seconds. That is the dumbest thing I've read all week.

  • @Verdandeify The pope tried to ban the crossbow, because it was so easy for a peasant to shoot a knight who had trained for yeah. The weapon outweighs individual skill on that one.

  • scary!

  • its more a whip than a sword. should work pretty well as long as there is plenty space around you and your enemy isnt wearing any armor.

  • @Iceberqe Actually, even if your opponent is wearing armour, they could still kill them. One of the first things that practitioners of Kalaripayattu learn is hitting very small points, and this continues when they learn weaponry. A real master of Kalaripayattu could slip an Urumi between the bottom of a helmet and the top of a breastplace. And it was practically never used as a whip, it was purposed to stop someone from being able to grab your sword and break it.

  • I was like "HOLY SHIT!" when I saw it wrapping around the guy. I thought he was going to be sliced in half. But then I realized the video's still up and on youtube.

  • YOU CUT OFF MY ARM!!!

Oh shit, nevermind I did that...

  • /watch?v=86ApwObomBA

Watch the sword being used in a movie fight scene...

  • noone would ever fight someone who was using this weapons

  • AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! >.<

  • indeed a great art of sword cum wip the sword styles which dont use shield like japanesse kendo or knejutsu cant stand against it well thinking about it i think most sword type martial arts use shields like in europe, gulf countries ,indian and china only japanesse katana or sword style dont use shield and yet they show themself as they r very cool with katana

  • @720ak there are styles without shields in kalari, u see it was used to train soldiers of ancient kerala, not the regular soldiers but kinda like the special forces and assassins of that time, they had to be able to fight in all scenarios. there is even a style that gives emphasis on unarmed fight against weapons which is taught towards the end of training after the student develop reflexes to his maximum.

  • @720ak the greatness of samurai sword is in the blade it is the ultimate cutting weapon, that is designed to perfection

  • @studentofthegr8art unfortunately it is not the ultimate cutting weapon, there are many other that cut exceedingly better, and retain their sharpness longer.

  • @sensangsun urumi is very effective - in one Attack swrod can harm up to 3 persons but urumi can harm and kill 9 :)

  • @PraznikSG i wasnt talking about the urumi, i was discussing the samurai sword Katana. But yes you are right the urumi is extremely effective, if placed in the hands of an extremely skilled swordman.

  • Something like this was used in an anime Rouroni Kenshin (sorry if I spell it wrong) and I though it's pure fiction! :P

  • I am nervous just watching them use this thing.

  • That's one unique weapon.

  • @Municsscareme hey,u dont think so?let me try on ya.google-indian ancient metallurgy.if ur a westerner then u will be ashame of urself!muahahahaha

  • @1992sanu no they really can't cut that well, less than an inch in flesh... only lethal if it hit an artery and useless against armour. but it's intimidation was just as much a weapon as it's edge.

  • The urumi or the Chuttuval is a close relative of the Dandpatta....

  • wow...

  • these guys are nuts holy crap... those look dangerous.

  • it was used as belts Guyz

  • they must hurt as shit!

  • my kalaripayattu gurrukal can use 2 urumi's at once!

but it scared me to death.. it looks like how kratos does it in god of war.

  • if that swords accidentally hits the ground or the shield the wrong way and you whip it back the wrong way, somethin is going to get cut off, I wouldn't want to be in a fight with this weapon

  • jesus that's a scary swoird

  • Sorry, has forgotten to write about what((

I will be very grateful to you in case of granting of any video- and graphic-information aboute sword 'urumi', disks 'chakra', sabre 'talvar' (moti-davati -sabre with metal balls in blade), sikhes (their celebration 'halsa'), radgputs..

  • Dear Indians! If who has videoclips from high quality about that ask to dump them on any portal that it was possible to download. In advance to all it is grateful!!!

  • petrohike you can use free flash download software to download this video, if that's what you are asking. feel free to message me if you need further info.

    regards.

  • Sword whip. Could cut off thousands of heads. Crazy, crazy stuff, but a good performance so long as all their limbs are still attached.

  • @TempestDust Good performance? This video was just two guys showing off, that didn't even display the art of using the weapon to kill. And that's the only part that anyone should care about.

  • yeah, you're right, they should be regularly maiming and killing people in exhibitions

    dumbass

  • I didn't say that they should be killing eachother, but that was why the weapon was invented, the more they practice it's use as a tool for entertainment, the less knowledge they will have of how to use it in combat.

I' not saying this is a bad thing, it happened to european swords around the 19th century due to killing people becoming increasingly taboo. That was when the sport of fencing came about as a result. It's just the way times are, swords are tools instead of weapons now.

  • Very cool several people could be dispatched at once if this weapon was used by a master.

  • I'd like to try that someday. I hope that I don't get big wounds...

  • Holy shit, that is fucking TERRIFYING. You'd have to truly dedicate yourself to this in order to not rip the flesh off your bones - and even then, you'd have to be careful.

If I were going up against one of these back in the day, I don't think I'd fear for my life exactly - but I'd still leave the guy alone, which I guess is the point. Looks to not be a directly killing implement, but a "horribly maim and fuck you up" weapon, which is just as useful.

  • Very cool. Those are scary and unpredictable weapons, wouldn't want to try to defend against one! Yeah,I'd probably end up killing myself before getting good with them as well lol!

  • why is it that they always have their legs ridiculously exposed?

  • Why do you consider it ridiculous for a man to have his legs bare?

  • lol can't i then, like, slash it? i don't think these ppl can continue fighting with immobile feet.

  • True... true. You have a point there.

  • a point of a beserker, which this one is, is to be unarmoured and hence light, quick and flexible in attack.

there are also psychological reasons of not using armours, a beserker has to go all out in order to be successful, you won't be doing that if you had a shield or something.

  • @fulcrum29 they do have shields...

  • true. but it's a small one that still allows them to be quick and agile.

  • It looks so ridiculously deadly, so fierce.

  • Probably one of the only weapons I would never EVER trust myself with...they're far too dangerous for my taste.

Kudos to whoever can actually use one without killing themselves, though.

  • @Ranrun1 Have to say I agree. I'm prone to injury with nunchaku as it is, this would be tantamount to adding sharp edges into that equation.

  • @Ranrun1 they can barely cut

  • Indea, a fucton of time ago "hey, can we make a long iron whip?" "ye'" "LET'S GLUE 3 TOGETHER!"

  • I heard about this sword on Discovery channel. Man when i saw the actual performance, I got totally scared O_O

  • dude....i saw these swords in my fream...never heard about them...holy shit....

  • wow. nice blocking the shots, it seems as though they would definatley die if they missed it with their small-shields.
