  • Definately September !972 wish there were more clips of Alan doing chart rundowns he was definatley the best and will never be surpassed

  • Hear Hear! Couldn't agree more. Thanks for your comment.

  • Alan Freeman was an icon as a DJ one of the very best sadly missed sadly we shall never see his like again i was so lucky to have grown up with Radio 1 from the beginning i saw Alan do a roadshow frm the sea front in south shields many years ago he had the crowd in the palm of his hand a true professional god bless you mate

  • Real DJs not the conceited smug pricks that infest Radio 1 today.

  • It's Jimmy Young he's with on the excerpt from 1970 - it was still the "JY Prog" on "Radio's 1 & 2" in September 72, so one presumes Noel was standing in for Jimmy as holiday cover.

  • Oh wow! And I want that 8-track too!!

  • Sorry, you are quite right, the first 1.28 minutes is actually a snippet of the rehearsal of the chart rundown from 1970. From that point it is as listed. Thanks for pointing that out, sorry for the confussion. Shippy555
