He didn't entice the elevator guy, it was meant to be coincidental. Earlier in the episode, a drunk Sterling blatantly comes onto Draper's wife and then offers a rather backhanded (non)apology for his behavior. The stair climbing scene serves not only as Sterling's comeuppance but also as a Darwinian metaphor signifying Draper's virility over Sterling's weakness. Hence the long stare Roger gives Don when he asks him if he's okay...and the smirk on Draper's lips as he turns and walks away.
As Don walk away, he casts a little glance back at the elevator boy and waves with his hat, and then we get a closeup of the boy looking a little like he just did something dishonest. It's subtle but pretty convincing to me.
@dlweiss and in addition to that if you watch the episode its the seventh, first season you can see that a couple of minutes before this scene don pays the elevator guy to do sth. so its clearly dons intention.
@Pravoizavlijesvijeta OH really? wow, maybe I shouldn't have been playing solitaire on the side while I watched this season, I missed so many little details!
Man, Roger's oyster-puke, Freddy Rumsen's urine, Guy McKendrick's bloody foot - some carpet-cleaning firm is making lotsa money servicing Sterling-Cooper!
The thing is that Roger and Don are friends. Unfaithful as you may be, your best friend's wife is a no-go area.
Perhaps even any wife, I think. Even the otherwise despicable Jimmy Barret called on Don for that on season two. "You want to step out? Fine, go to a whore. You don't screw another man's wife."
@zoeydebra - if Roger gets in the sack with Don's wife that make's Don a cuckold. No self respecting man, no matter how unfaithful, will stand for being a cuckold. Hence, Don meted out some indirect punishment to Roger for his transgression.
When of the best scenes on T.V. ever. Roger got his for hitting on Draper's wife.

I LOVE this whole episode. Revenge for hitting on his wife. I liked how Don looked when he was walking away after he vomited. The look of victory.

That puke just looked so REAL! I thought John Slattery had given us a genuine upchuck.
But it was just another special effect. Damn.

Don pulled this stunt to get even with Roger for hitting on Don's wife. It had nothing to do with showing how out of shape Roger was.
