Humans are all egoistic in somewhat way, that is true in almost all cases: You give presents to earn friendship or appreciation, you teach either for money or for respect, you may die for someone but even than it could be so other can remember you as a hero or to show how much you loved he who you saved. As for itachi he did not show it for he knew it would cause problems for others. He put a huge burden on himself making himself look like a tiran even after his death for a better world!
Inspiring, a man who died with a smile on his face, despite having to have a made a horrific choice, his Family, his clan, his pride, his happiness... his love, or the lives of loads in his village and others, to have to make that choice and die with a smile on your face is a wonderful thought.

@xXMissChampXx and to answer your other question about why the Uchiha's were killing innocent people: To recieve the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan a person must take the eyes from another person with a Sharingan. 0_o Itachi willingly gave one of his eyes to Sasuke, granting him Amaterasu.

Itachi was awesome the question is who's under the mask? I theorize its Izuna Uchiha because maybe Izuna took madara's eye instead? When sasuke was recovering and he was about to open his mask, he got amateresud if it meets Madara's sharingan because Izuna took them. As for itachi he did not show it for he knew it would cause problems for others. He put a huge burden on himself making himself look like a tiran even after his death for a better world!

its simple tobi is a shadow clone of madara that survived because he used an advanced form of izanagi at the last moment before hi death (izanagi can make thoughts reality) also madara has the rinngan which he himself stated he awoke wen fighting the 1st hokage therefor he possesed the izanagi that the sage of six paths used to make the nine tailed beasts from the ten tails useing izanagi.

If other villages hear of the civil war, they would attack the Hidden Leaf and start a World War. So Itachi saved his entire village and averted war by sacrificing himself and destroying his clan..........except for Sasuke....

Itachi wanted Sasuke to hate him so that he would get stronger and fight him, then at the last second he shows Sasuke that he is still his kind older brother and Sasuke recieves the Mangekyou Sharingan. Itachi wanted Sasuke to use his power to restore the Uchiha clan.

He didn't exactly show that he was still his kind older brother, all he did was say, sasuke this is it and transfered his ocular powers to sasuke, which finished him off. Sasuke still believed him to be evil until tobi told him the real story and then sasuke still had trouble accepting it.

@N0thinglasts1 No, if you watch the flashback episodes with the brothers, Itachi did this thing where he pokes Sasuke's head with two fingers. He did it whenever he didn't have time to spend with Sasuke. Itachi did it again right before he died to show Sasuke he was still his kind older brother and to activate Sasuke's own Mangekyou. And yes he did also give Sasuke his Amaterasu.

@dstmt2 the shows are not canon, you have to read the mangas, thats where whatever said is truth, if the manga and the anime are contradicting eachother its always the manga that is the truth, as the anime is not personaly made by the author of naruto like the mangas are. Even if he said "sasuke, I love you, all I ever did was for you", sasuke wouldn't believe him, and even if he did believe him, it still wouldn't change his feelings.

If yu did we wouldn't be having this conversation. the "MS" as you call, it is not just Itachi's occular power, it is a UNIQUE power that anyone with a sharingan can get. If Itachi gave sasuke his occular power, like you claim, Sasuke would have Itachi's exact same MS. The only thing Itachi gave to Sasuke was Amaterasu, which he set to go off when Sasuke looked a Tobi. It's not hard to understand.

But whether or not Itachi unlocked sasuke's MS isn't the point, the point is that Itachi didn't want sasuke to find out the truth about him and the clan, he wanted sasuke to believe the clan was good.

@xXMissChampXx and to answer your other question about why the Uchiha's were killing innocent people: To recieve the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan a person must take the eyes from another person with a Sharingan. 0_o Itachi willingly gave one of his eyes to Sasuke, granting him Amaterasu.

Itachi was awesome the question is who's under the mask? I theorize its Izuna Uchiha because maybe Izuna took madara's eye instead? When sasuke was recovering and he was about to open his mask, he got amateresud if it meets Madara's sharingan because Izuna took them. It could also be Madara but in separate beings too but Madara isn't complete yet and needs the 10 tails to make him complete?

@transformerXXX7 Yes, but there's one problem with that: Madara mentioned Nagato, who is only 35. We saw Izuna dead and without eyes 70 years ago, and we know that Madara was still alive not long ago, because he knows Nagato and about Nagato's abilities. Therefore, this can't work with the time frames we have. Furthermore, Madara nearly awoke the Rinnegan just before he "died", having read the secret writings, meaning that he would have had his eyes then.
