Of course a Vibeke combina mais com Tristania, mas ela se foi por livre e espontânea vontade e a gente nao pode discutir isso, nem atacar a Mary, Parabéns pra ela nessa música, e como fans a gente deveria apoiar essa nova fase da banda. Os que se sintam ofendido, por favor respeitem, é apenas uma opinião.

They made the same mistake that Nightwish...is a golden rule in music,the only ones who avoided the bullet were ACDC...but everytime you change the lead vocals,you lose a lot of potential,if not all of the fans...I mean,she's good,but her voice makes the gothic lose the sense of the word...it just becomes hard rock....
I wouldn't say that about Nightwish. I think Anette is doing well, even when her voice doesn't suit in all the old songs, in my personal point of view, Tarja's voice didn't suit neither in ALL the songs, I dislike Nemo with Tarja's voice in live version for example. And even so, Anette has a charisma, but this girl... well, somebody like her don't they? whatvs, what I mean is that just because you don't like it you shouldn't say this is a "mistake" I dislike so I just avoid the "new" Tristania,
her voice makes good songs sound like pop,not only in old songs,but in the new songs too...Tarja's voice is quite nice,I don't know why you said it didn't fit in "all songs"...she was one of the starters of this gender of music,but now nightwish is a complete car accident...Tarja isnt quite well with her music too...but we have to take those consequences,since we are poerless to those changes...is a shame...and yes,it is a mistake,a lot of bands dont survive this kind of changes...
I am not talking just about new songs or old songs, bur in general. I think there are songs which -in my personal point of view- sounds better in Anette or Tarja's voice [for example: Nemo]. I don't think is that bad to change their singer but the fans, I don't think it is an accident. She's amazing with the operatic stuff and I was sad to hear the new Tristania (I mean Ashes and Illumination) 'cause it wasn't the Tristania I used to know. Even when I never was a die hard fan.
If they had to change in the first place, at least they have a real rock singer now :) As you can hear Mary is great with the latter stuff, she really owns them!
classical singer is the right word...she is just a rocker, self taught singer and I'm sure that she is perfect and very very right...better than many chicks out there. If Mary attend some classical singing lessons she has amazing abilities to do things...she has all the skills be sure.

Mariangela is probably the best thing that has ever happened to Tristania. Her voice has such an unique sound, now you just can't listen to them without feeling completely hooked. I'm just speechless. Vibeke was decent, but her voice was way too common, she didn't even have a distinctive tonal quality. Mary totally pays off now.
It all depends on the tastes, dear. Lately, the bands with pseudo-classical singers have been getting more and more numerous. And I really don't admire things that don't require that great of a talent and so much work and mess around with the word "opera", which is so sacred it should be left untouched. That's also why I admire Nightwish and Tristania for having been brave enough to take a step apart of the past. And naturally, Mary is much better than many non-classical singers. Obviously.
I know that, but bands using classically trained vocalists WAS unique but now there are second rate nightwish's and tristania's for example visions of atlantis or edednbridge. Vibeke never sang opera anyway she sang in a classical way most of the time though, and I listen to alot of non-classical singers and its not "obvious" she is better than them.
And, EndlessCompassion, true is that nowadays the classical singing in metal has spread more, but, back those days, there were few who did what Vibeke did, and still today her voice and style are unique!
Mary has got force, but she'll never have the touch, spirituality nor elegance Vibeke had!
Even if she can add some new elements that, for me, anyway, aren't what got me loving Tristania.
